Been coming here for kidney stones and the doctors I've seen have been very pleasant, friendly and great bedside manners. The front desk and back of the house are horrible! The front desk ladies are very rude, curt and stuck up both in person and over the phone. If you ever come here, make sure to specify exactly what you're there for and check your bills! I got hit with huge fees twice for things and tests I didn't approve of or were informed for. Went first time for routine follow up and then got a bill on the mail for over $1000 for anesthesia that I never even received. The second time I got a bill in the mail for a UTI test that was sent to a private lab that I also wasn't notified of, approved of or notified of. I called the private lab about the bill and they told me to contact the doctor's office. When I called they told me to email the billing department and wait for about 2 weeks for a reply. Waited the 2 weeks, got no reply. Called again and they told me to email another email address and wait for a reply. Got a reply after 3 days the reply was "we sent your request to the lab". Asked for my records to be emailed to me so I can find a new urologist and they never sent them. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! read more

What does it say about our society when a doctor this cold and uncaring is still practicing medicine? I am a 7 year prostate cancer survivor NO THANKS to this poor excuse for a doctor. Unclean office. Poorly run. Some of his staff 7 years ago was mediocre at best. I had my cystoscopy and evaluation there. I was told "you have cancer but that's good news!" That was my 3rd and last visit. I fired him and found a real urologist and oncologist and that is why I am here today! Do your research, get recommendations from support groups. I was a patient of Dr. Shusterman for many years. Each year I was coming for the checkup. I picked this doctor since I was impressed by how much equipment his office had, and I thought that I am in good hands but how I was mistaken by whatever happened to me later... Dr. Shusterman likes to talk about himself, and his office/equipment, and his staff in superlatives, that you cannot find better doctor that he is, and every other urologist is simply worst, and for sure cannot help you like he does! He criticized each doctor which I went to! First red light I got when one day, just 2 days after I went to his office and did a checkup with the ultrasound, and all testing, I woke up with a huge pain on my right sight of the belly. I had to go to emergency, and they found out that I am having the stones. Dr. Shusterman did not informed me whatever he saw after all his testing, he could have prevented me from going to the hospital, and having so much pain since the other urologist there needed to put me a JJ stent. Anyway, I came back to him, he apologized that he did not read the rapport from my testing, and he offered the ESWL procedure (even he could not seen stones on the x-ray). A month later, he took out the JJ stent from my body, and I had (after the procedure) so much pain! My wife called the office, and after 2 days of unbelievable suffering, the office prescribed me some medication which helped me with my pain! Each time when I was complaining on them in their office, the staff, and doctors were angry at me, and did not even want to listen! But the biggest issues with my health, I had just recently, and I blamed this doctor the most since after coming to him for so many years for each checkup and being checked by his "professional staff" who were operating all the machines he is having in his office, they never saw growing on my right kidney, a huge tumor! Today, I am recovering after the surgery done on my right kidney, and i was diagnosed with the cancer which was growing over last 5 years. The "best machines" of Dr. Shusterman never saw the cancer growing on my kidney, even when they saw that my kidney does not work properly! Please avoid this doctor! Do not even consider going to this Doctor. He is a procedural nightmare who builds you with confidence regarding what he can do for you during that first appointment, does procedures that have zero effect on your health & bills your insurance company for all he can. After that first visit, he barely looks at you and just rattles off what he wants to do next. By the third visit, you are no longer seeing him, but one of his junior associates. It was 3 months of hell when he prescribed the next procedure and I just walked out of the office. I am still recovering form what he did to me 18 months ago. read more

Staff not friendly and very difficult to understand what the staff is saying. Took me two hours to complete a simple exam. All I wanted was to check sperm count levels and entire up getting additional unnecessary test. If entire visit is going to take more than 45 minutes staff should tell you when you are scheduling an appt. Therefore you can plan your day accordingly. read more

I showed up to the confirmed appointment and the office was closed. We wasted a week waiting for this appointment and woke up super early in the morning for it. No one called to apologize or explain what happened, I called both offices to confirm I didn't show up at the wrong location. read more

After searching for a urologist for my father, who was diagnosed with bladder cancer, I was referred to Dr. Shusterman by a close family physician/friend. After meeting the doctor with my father, I felt comfortable knowing that 1. The doctor was trained in one of the best hospitals for cancer. 2. That he was advanced in his methods. Meaning he wasn't one of these old doctors that used equipment and techniques that are out dated. I ended up trusting Shusterman to handle the surgery, and I thank G-D everyday that I did and that my dad is doing well, especially with such a complicated case. The wait is a little long, as I'm sure is the case with any top specialist in New York, but I just told myself, I'm here to see someone who obviously is known to be good (by the amount of people in his office) and not online at a deli. After meeting with the doctor, I kind of understood why such a wait. He literally spent over an hour with my father testing and discussing options. I actually appreciated the fact that he didnt rush us out, knowing his office was packed with pt. The staff may not be the friendliest at times, but we weren't there to make friends. They made sure all authorizations where done and everything was scheduled very professionally and timely. Cant ask for anything more, especially in such a high volume environment. I saw Dr. Shusterman for an STD check. I came out positive for one and I was treated well. I did have another condition that I tried to explain to Dr. Shusterman. After explaining my troubles, he told me what I was experiencing was "completely normal" and that I'm imagining everything. It turns out I have a condition called Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome/Chronic Nonbacterial Prostatitis. He told me I'm NORMAL. I felt terrible about myself when he said this to me. He completely dismissed me. He won "the most compassionate doctor" award. How he won this is beyond me because, to me, he was the most fake, close-minded "couldn't care less" doctor and I hope no one feels as awful as I did when he told me I was "NORMAL". I thankfully got a second opinion and was diagnosed properly. He may be good with some aspects of urology, but expect to be "completely normal" in a condition he's not aware of. If he had said "You know I'm sorry, there may be something going on but I'm just not familiar with the condition" I would have been perfectly satisfied. But he didn't - he dismissed me. I will NEVER return to David Shusterman. I recommend the PA, Marina - she listened well and actually cares. Also, while I was in his office talking about my STD, he decided to take a 20 minute business phone call WITH ME IN THE OFFICE WITH HIM. Compassionate?? He could CARE LESS. read more
