Absolutely disgusting business using charity as a way to get you to spend money on their terrible photos. I applied for a Facebook ad looking for senior dogs - Your Best Friend' Senior Edition" e-book to raise funds for DFW Humane Society. I thought this is great, i love my dog, i love this charity i want to do this.. HA! boy did I get suckered into this sham of a business. I then got chosen to take part and I am almost certain everyone gets chosen but regardless... i was asked to schedule a call for more info. Then after a long phone call which mind you they read off a script - nothing genuine about it nor do they actually care about your dog they pretend, you can hear it in their voice...the poor girl who i spoke to sounded desperate to do well at her job so i felt bad hence why I decided to go ahead with it.... REGRETTED THAT DECISION... *******Now this is why I am scared to give my real name because the owner of the business is rude, abrupt, passive aggressive and down right borderline "a bully". I have been looking at what other victims have experienced and she has this standard response of "there is no record of you in our system" and makes it out like you have never been there and that you are a nut job when really... she is.******* Renae will manipulate you and twist you to make you feel so bad if you don't buy the images and that they get deleted if you don't buy them... I was pretty much ready to cry but held it together to save my dignity. I kept myself together because i know there is no winning against this vile woman. You dont get anything for free, it is your typical bait and switch, you cant just go in have a portrait session and be in the book, no you get pressured to buy and her terrible photography and artwork costs around $2000+. I decided the hell with this i'm not going to spend anything and put myself in a situation where i will hate the portrait of my baby becuase of how i was left feeling. Save yourself and don't even bother applying for this. They don't honor anything in the advertisement, they use it to get you in their door so that Renae can manipulate you to purchase their images and use the old spiel of "its your baby they don't live long and we will delete the images if you don't buy them" I'll just go to a proper photographer and get this done - down with ya'll hope DFW turns their back on this scum of a business read more

Such a fun afternoon taking portraits with my furkid!! David and Renae made the experience fun and easy and comfortable. The photos turned out wonderfully. I mean, I knew my dog was photogenic, but I didn't realize I was too! They are truly a talented couple that love what they do. Before our session with David and Renae Stiff we had no portraits of our family in our house anywhere. We had a few school photos of the kiddos over the years but no professional photos of our family. Our session not only provided our home with incredibly beautiful and breathtaking portraits of our family but also our sweet dogs! David and Renae are kind, gracious, incredibly gifted and talented with family members, human or not! After our photo session we headed back to the studio with Renae to view all the photos and choose our favorites. She was patient and very helpful while we asked for adjustments and to flip back and forth. She was clear and informative about why they only do prints and don't save digital photos (which at first was surprising but why would I wait to buy pics? I am not going to want several years old pictures, we will want new ones!). These photos are an investment and she helped us get every picture we wanted for the best price! read more

They'll stiff you, alright. Responded to Facebook ad looking for senior dogs for "'Your Best Friend' Senior Edition" e-book to raise funds for DFW Humane Society. Great cause! We were "shortlisted" for the project and asked to schedule a call for more info. A 20+ minute phone call with a LONG spiel and "info gathering on our furbabies". Very elaborate, scripted conversation on their part. We'd already decided we'd like good quality portraits of our dogs, and this seemed to go for a good cause, so win-win. During the call, was told we'd need to put down a $199 "temporary retainer" that would be refunded after the shoot. That was assuming we're going to buy expensive prints, which we would almost certainly would have. We've set aside a fairly big budget for portraits since we have two senior dogs of which we want good images. AFTER CHARGING MY CREDIT CARD, they inform me that $199 (plus tax = $215.42) is non-refundable if we cancel. That should have been stated right up front BEFORE they ever got to asking for my credit card info. Very shady, very "bait-and-switch". Shameful. Not at all the good deal it appeared to be. Shame on me for falling for their tactics. I canceled the appointment I'd made before hanging up and held on while my credit card was refunded and receipt texted. They did refund the charge, but had they been honest and not deceitful at the beginning of the call, I would have saved myself and their employee a half hour, and saved my credit card info being put into the hands of shady people by never scheduling a sitting. Why can't businesses just be honest up front? read more

Buyer beware! No digital photographs offered! Only prints! Very very pushy sales to get you in the door only to be let down. My husband bought this package at a charity auction not fully understanding their process. They are located in Ennis which for us was a long drive on a Friday. We arrived had our pictures taken and even had head shots taken (which should have been her first clue we didn't understand their no digital rule) Unfortunately, bad experience which could've been avoided. read more

David Stiff is a great photographer. But Renae is a hyper-aggressive salesperson who only cares about how much money she can extort out of you immediately after your photo shoot. She starts by baking some mediocre chocolate chip cookies, but this doesn't soften the blow of what comes next. She then threatens to delete all unpurchased photos once you leave their studio. She then goes on to vehemently insist that digital images cannot be lifelong memories because "things happen" to them.... Ya think? Like.. deleting them on purpose? In their e-mail they state "we do not deal in any raw digital media in any way". This is a blatant lie because Mr. Stiff uses a digital camera to take the pictures and all of them were on an SD card Renae used to extort us with, and your printed photos come from these digital images. She then proceeds to torture you for over an hour in choosing which photos to DELETE FOREVER while ironically trying to sell you printed versions of whatever photos are left for thousands of dollars EACH. In lieu of the fact that I had already paid good money for the photo shoot itself, I digressed because I didn't want to leave without even one photo as that would have been a huge disappointment to my family who just spent an hour posing for photos. But I digress again because what I got for $540 was an 8x11 inkjet quality matte photo glued to a piece of cardboard WITHOUT A FRAME that took 4 months for them to ship to us. That is literal highway robbery and borderline fraud. I would have easily paid $1000 for a copy of the photos Mr. Stiff took with his digital camera. His photography is, in fact, excellent. However, starting price is $400 for ONE PHOTO (Not including the cost of the photo shoot). Their web site claims prices start at $89 but beware the only thing you are getting for $89 is a single wallet sized print. Due to the unethical sales tactic of threatening to delete photos if not purchased immediately for a minimum of $500+ each for 8x11 prints (there was nothing smaller offered between wallet size and 8x11) this was one of the most horrible experiences I've ever had with a photographer. I've never been threatened by a photographer that my photos would be deleted if I didn't buy them immediately. At the very least you should keep them and allow people to buy more in the future. Not everyone is made of money. David and Renae: Your reputation for doing this will precede you in the long run. Because of this I can never recommend David Stiff photography to ANYONE. read more

We received an engagement package with our purchase from Bachendorf's. We were initially very pleased with the free 8x10 portrait but after the session we learned that we couldn't receive any of the photos digitally (hi-res) - even if we were willing to pay for them. In addition to that, the only low-res digital copies that they allowed us to receive were of the portraits that we purchased. The portraits were extremely expensive. For example, a 26x18 was ~$1,000. As nice as the owners were, they should allow customers to purchase digital copies of the photos. I would have easily paid the $1,000 for my digital copies over my ONE 26x18 photo. read more
