We had an initial consultation with David over Zoom when we were looking for legal help for a prenuptial agreement. The Zoom call was a pretty bad experience. The sound quality was awful. But we were mostly shocked by the estimated cost. Our case is really simple. Neither of us has been married before or has kids. We just wanted our prenup to keep our properties separate and to waive spousal support. David's estimate of the total cost was 10.000$. That is insane! I had read that prenups can be expensive, but this went beyond any estimate I'd seen before. His hourly rate is also pretty high. It's $680/h whereas another attorney I spoke to only asked $400/h. Furthermore, he didn't even tell us to get a second lawyer. We heard later from other attorneys that a prenup must always be drawn up with independent legal counsel for each side. David didn't mention that. I would hope the 10000$ included the whole process and that we wouldn't need another lawyer on top of that! read more

I had a very unfortunate experience with David Sutton Mediation Services and would not recommend his firm. Many of my friends had the exact same experiences and are still paying the consequences of his recommendations- advice they took from him that will effect their lives forever. I did not find David Sutton to be an impartial mediator. He spent a lot of billable time talking about himself and his world views, and this added considerable cost with no valuable information being imparted. I had to stop my services with him and go to an attorney who managed to help me in less than an hour, with services that he may have spent hours on due to his lack of focus. He did not hold my spouse to the task of providing required documents in any timely manner and he held back legal documents that I presented and never addressed them. In short, I do not in any way recommend David Sutton. Please do yourself a favor and do not engage services with him, he is incredibly expensive and wastes a lot of time talking about himself instead of addressing the matters at hand. He issues advice when he should be issuing legal options. The best thing I did was to leave his service and seek a Family Law Attorney. read more

Divorce is not an easy or pleasant process and I am sorry to see some people take their pain out on their mediator. David Sutton mediated my divorce after 12 years of marriage. He was professional, thorough and insightful. He helped us solve problems that would have otherwise resulted in an impasse. David proceeded with our case in a very practical and unbiased manner. When there were more contentious points brought up he was good at pointing out what the court would respond to, what the law required and what might be actually fair to both parties. He also gave practical advice on how to proceed on certain points after the mediation. David also shared perspectives from other cases he worked on (never giving away confidentiality but using examples of what worked/didn't work.) He never gave his personal opinions on behaviors, actions or the character of either party. We were both treated with respect. Unfortunately, my experience/sentiments echo that of Eddie B. below. He was not well-equipped to deal with my somewhat complex case involving co-mingling, intricately entwined moving parts and an overly aggressive, manipulative husband. He actually used me as a buffer to calm husband down by negotiating and giving away my rights. Although I finally relinquished his services, the harm was done with his slanted MSA full of loopholes. Mediation failed and litigation prevailed. I, ultimately, paid a great price emotionally and financially. In retrospect, it was a dire mistake to enter into this mediation unaccompanied by independent legal counsel. read more
