Founded in 1812 by the Methodist Conference for the education of the sons of ministers, The Grove now welcomes pupils and staff of all denominations and none. It is a school that values it roots and traditions but it is constantly changing to meet the demands of modern education. In recent years the school has grown (now 700 in the senior school from age 11) but it is still small enough for all pupils to be known well and to make their mark. Academically this school has a great reputation with glowing OFSTED reports and strong A-Level and GCSE results. The school gives pupils tremendous scope to explore all areas of academic life as well as to try out a wide range of sporting & musical activities. It has some amazing modern sports facilities which are admired in the area. Their indoor training facilities are even used by the Bradford Bulls (who are a super league rugby league team). The school has a great sporting record in both Rugby and Cricket & in Netball and Tennis amongst many other sports. On the arts side they have recently had a new theatre and a new music department built to house some wonderful facilities. The school has a very lively Arts community with a wide range of musical, theatrical and art activities running throughout the year. I personally benefited greatly from the excellent music tuition I received at the school. I would not hesitate to recommend this school to anyone in the area looking for a private Day school, but also for anyone looking for a good boarding school as the school has excellent boarding facilities for both girls and boys. It was wonderful to live in such a friendly and supportive community and when you leave the school that continues through the Old Grovians association which is run enthusiastically by a committee of past pupils (old grovians). The area surrounding the school is really nice and its fitting that the school itself, which backs onto the church, complies with that. There would be around 220 kids attending here and the school continues to evolve for the better. Education standards have always been great as OFSTED reports will show. The teahers are of a great standard and the facilities live up to that too. On leaving this school you can be sure that the standard of education you have received is of the highest quality.

And a Sure Start building where many of their pre-school events are held. The school has a mix range of children from age three to 11. There is a very strong emphasis on behaviour and showing respect to each other. The children enjoy a varied range of after school clubs.

She always comes home having made things and telling us all about lessons, her teachers, and what she's been doing. She enjoys school but as I said she seems to be learning lots as well. I have removed my previous review here…read more There's no question the standard of teaching at Gateways is excellent in many areas, the 6th form in particular. The issue is that there are gaps in a lot of what the school does. My children attended Gateways but all came away with very negative feelings and vowed never to send their children here should the opportunity appear. All of them suffered bullying - an issue which wasn't uncommon - about which little was done. In one instance the school had full knowledge of what was going on and took little action towards the perpetrators. In addition to this should any criticism be directed towards any member of staff the school is quick to protect whoever it is. Some staff members behaved in poor fashion towards one of my children during an incident on a school trip but at a meeting with senior teachers to discuss this it was denied that any problem took place so no action was taken. After my children left I arranged to meet the head of the school governors to address the issues my children suffered. He appeared responsive to the issues but after our meeting and an email from me thanking him for his time I heard absolutely nothing. That was my last contact with the school. That's poor on any level. The headmistress at the time of writing was also very unresponsive to issues I raised during my children's time at Gateways. So I'm left with very mixed feelings concerning the school. On reflection I wouldn't have selected Gateways as there are many other good options in the area.

I've had chatty calls from the school, just to check how she is getting on from my point of view! Fantastic!
