The pre-screen nurse was friendly, empathetic and personable. My consult was with Frank Caruso, PA. I cannot sing this man's praises enough. He thorough explained what he saw on my X-rays. He then offered several options for treatment. Frank was personable and obviously very knowledgeable. He was easy to talk with and even more importantly, a good listener. I highly recommend Frank and this hospital unit (Orthopedics, Davie) for those specific healthcare needs. He was great to deal with and I will certainly contact him again should the need arise. Nobody likes going to the doctor but the entire staff at Davie made it a bearable experience.

She contacted me each day with a detailed update. She coordinated beautifully with both Cardiology and Oncology to ensure all disciplines coordinated efforts. The new cardiologist contacted me prior to performing a procedure to ensure I had clarity. By the end of the week I was able to navigate around the hospital without getting lost but there were always helpful staff members who went above and beyond to help guide me. Parking here is horrible. One more I drove around the parking deck for 20 minutes before finally parking in a no parking spot. Because I was on the 5th level I assume they don't monitor it closely. Fortunately I didn't get a ticket or towed. Parking on Saturday and Sunday was easy. Week days are tough. I paid $3 to $4 for parking each day. Someone said that you can purchase a pass which allows unlimited in and outs for the day. I didn't look into that option. Another plus is the food. I ate in the cafeteria. Many food options on the weekdays and limited options on weekends. I didn't get the best chicken Alfredo ever earlier in the week. My husband enjoyed his food as well. All in all, if you have to be hospitalized, Forsyth may be a good option.

Unfortunately, the level of care and attentiveness I have witnessed during two recent visits with my aunt has been extremely disappointing. During the first visit, my aunt needed assistance getting to the bathroom, so I pressed the call button. No one responded. I pressed it a second time and then a third time. Eventually, the clerk responded over the intercom and said someone would come. Her room was directly across from the nursing station, where I could see several staff members sitting and talking, yet no one came to assist her. I ultimately had to find a bedpan myself and assist my aunt. By the time the nurse finally came into the room, I was already cleaning my aunt up. The nurse then asked me to help pull my aunt up in the bed. As a family member, I was there to support my aunt--not to perform patient care or assist staff with repositioning a patient. What concerned me even more was seeing another patient later during that visit who was halfway out of the bed and appeared to be at risk of falling. I had to yell toward the nursing station to alert staff that the patient was about to fall. Unfortunately, my aunt returned to the ER today, and the same issue happened again. This time my mother was with her. My mother pressed the call button because my aunt needed assistance getting to the bathroom. No one came, and my aunt ultimately urinated on herself in the bed. During this visit, my aunt was also repeatedly pulling off her monitoring equipment. From what my mother observed, there did not appear to be an immediate response from staff to address the situation or ensure that she remained appropriately monitored. As an experienced ER nurse, I understand how busy and unpredictable emergency departments can be. I understand that staff can become overwhelmed and that not every call can be answered immediately. However, what I have witnessed goes beyond simply being a busy department. Repeated failures to respond when a patient needs assistance with basic needs, a patient being allowed to remain soiled after an unanswered call, and concerns regarding patient monitoring and fall safety are extremely troubling. It is particularly disappointing to see this in the ER where I started my nursing career. I remember a different level of attentiveness and accountability. I sincerely hope hospital leadership takes this feedback seriously and evaluates staffing, responsiveness to call lights, fall prevention, patient monitoring, and overall patient safety. Patients deserve to be treated with dignity, and families should not have to step into the role of the care team simply because no one responds to a call button.

My wife had a post-surgical wound that would not completely heal, despite dozens of office visits…read morebetween May and December of 2018. She was finally referred to The Wake Forest Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center. Dr. Vlad and his staff at the clinic were EXCELLENT! Dr. Vlad found the tiny non-dissolving stitch tie that was missed by whomever closed the wound after my wife's surgery (and subsequently missed it / did not look for it as a cause of the wound not healing and draining multiple times a week for the following 8 months ... to be fair, the tied end of the stitch was in a bent "+" shape with a knot at the center and small - probably under a mm in thickness. BUT I could see the length of each piece and would guess it was at least a mm or two. ). So, Dr. Vlad had this suction pump setup that is used over the wound and uses vacuum pressure (not electric to remove any excess fluids/etc. from the wound. It is something that the Clinic uses a lot of and it is BRILLIANT. (And it deserves all caps. My wife has had a lot of surgeries and this process of healing the wound was the best and easiest. It was so nice to finally find a doctor who had a solution to slow/non healing wounds that worked. Five Stars! To Dr. Luc Vlad and ALL of his staff. You all are great. One final note ... and this is NOT to take away from the above review, but make sure that your insurance will cover the aforementioned non-electric wound pump / any medical supplies. We forgot to check and it was not covered. HOWEVER, it was worth it. It took a couple of months to completely heal the damage done from the suture left in my wife's body.

Instead, we spent over 6 hours sitting in uncertainty with little to no communication about what was going on. To make matters worse, after the ultrasound was performed, we were told that because this is an emergency clinic, we were not allowed to see the ultrasound. We were left with more questions than answers and no clear explanation of what was happening. Every time we asked for an update, we felt like we were being brushed aside rather than informed. No family should have to spend hour after hour worrying and wondering about such an important situation while receiving virtually no information. The lack of communication, transparency, and concern for patients made an already stressful experience even more frustrating. What should have been a joyful day turned into a long, exhausting, and emotionally draining ordeal. I cannot recommend this facility based on our experience.

She really made the experience there so wonderful. (Give her a raise, NOVANT... she's representing you VERY WELL!) The anesthesiologist and nurses were all very thorough in explaining what to expect, timeframes and such. Due to my daughter's low blood sugar, they made sure to raise it with meds before taking her back. They were very reassuring. The nurse who tended to my daughter in recovery was great. She was so polite and thoughtful, making sure to explain the discharge instructions to both my daughter and myself. Great experience!

Endoscopy seemed to be conforming well with plague protocols through good scheduling and processing practices: I was attended individually at check in, then in the relative privacy of a curtained ward, the exam room, and finally back to the ward for recovery. members of staff were always properly attired, and aside from the ubiquitous face masks and gloves I think it is actually typical of medical offices and not indicative of any special effort on their part. I can't swear to it but I would like to believe that there was no breach of convention while I was sedated. ...my lovely bride / designated driver remained in the central waiting area during my visit and was not forthcoming with any significant complaint so I guess that all went well, we've been at this for most of the year and folks are pretty good about keeping their distances socially or otherwise... afterwards I was escorted to the car and sent on my way with a small stack of papers and my dignity intact. all the staff for intake to were top notch professional, poised, and polite. despite being "just another patient" I never felt like I was just another patient. so if you gotta go you gotta go and this seems a good place for it.

I called ahead of time, and they confirmed that in my situation they would call an oral surgeon…read more Instead, they relabeled an exposed bone as "dental pain" to avoid EMPLA liability and discharged me without care. Now I'm dealing with possible heart failure because the infection from the exposed bone likely spread to my heart and has already caused an infarction -- exactly what I was actively trying to prevent. I did not know my bone was exposed. My medical condition -- the one I'm on disability for -- includes loss of feeling in certain areas. My last dental exam was good except for medically necessary orthodontic treatment I was working through administrative barriers to get. The affected area was not visible during normal dental care. I could not figure out why I had been sick for months off and on. When I investigated further, I found that a tooth had broken through the jawbone, leaving the bone and the root exposed. The infection was already systemic. I called Wakefield immediately and explained the situation. They told me they would call in an oral surgeon and address the infection promptly. So I made the hour‑and‑a‑half drive. I showed the triage nurse, who confirmed it was serious and checked me in. Then I was placed in a makeshift curtain room, and they decided they did not want to call the surgeon after all. To avoid EMPLA liability, the staff changed "systemic infection with exposed bone" to "dental pain." Keep in mind I do not have feeling in that area -- I told them that -- so this was not even a possible mistake. They brought me discharge papers without further evaluation, treatment, labs, or anything. They handed me discharge papers with the problem relabeled to mischaracterize my situation. When I tried to show them the discrepancy, I was reframed as hostile. I was discharged in a dangerous and untreated medical state. Now I've had a recent infarction (heart attack) because the exposed bone remained untreated longer and the infection was ignored longer. I finally received antibiotics and had the area cleaned and covered by another hospital, but the infection is now in my heart and my life is in danger while another hospital tries to sort this out.
