I was admitted over the past couple days. The emergency room was fantastic. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My nurse, Stephen, was amazing. He was super caring and extremely comical.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My floor crew was also exceptional as were transport. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Thanks to Darious and James in transport.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Martha, Brittany, Sabrina, Miranda, and Anne on the 3rd floor and Jessica in discharge for taking such good care of me and making my stay as comfortable as can be.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

NOPE USED to be a better hospital than this. Rang the bell they answered but had no eagerness to come to the room and this is after a motorcycle accident. the room was dirty, blood on the floor, trash full, floor full of trash. I cleaned off the chairs with paper towel and sanitizer to sit down while my husband sit in pain. He wasn't yelling or loud enough I guess because he called out twice on the remote and it took over 45 mins. i do want to say the emergency room was not crowded packed or busy - nurses station was full of laughter and conversation. I called hospitality and to complain just about the room alone and for some reason they don't take calls on the weekends . Unsanitary and very contaminating , where the inspector at

She was finally referred to The Wake Forest Wound Care and Hyperbaric Center. Dr. Vlad and his staff at the clinic were EXCELLENT! Dr. Vlad found the tiny non-dissolving stitch tie that was missed by whomever closed the wound after my wife's surgery (and subsequently missed it / did not look for it as a cause of the wound not healing and draining multiple times a week for the following 8 months ... to be fair, the tied end of the stitch was in a bent "+" shape with a knot at the center and small - probably under a mm in thickness. BUT I could see the length of each piece and would guess it was at least a mm or two. ). So, Dr. Vlad had this suction pump setup that is used over the wound and uses vacuum pressure (not electric to remove any excess fluids/etc. from the wound. It is something that the Clinic uses a lot of and it is BRILLIANT. (And it deserves all caps. My wife has had a lot of surgeries and this process of healing the wound was the best and easiest. It was so nice to finally find a doctor who had a solution to slow/non healing wounds that worked. Five Stars! To Dr. Luc Vlad and ALL of his staff. You all are great. One final note ... and this is NOT to take away from the above review, but make sure that your insurance will cover the aforementioned non-electric wound pump / any medical supplies. We forgot to check and it was not covered. HOWEVER, it was worth it. It took a couple of months to completely heal the damage done from the suture left in my wife's body.

Now I'm dealing with possible heart failure because the infection from the exposed bone likely spread to my heart and has already caused an infarction -- exactly what I was actively trying to prevent. I did not know my bone was exposed. My medical condition -- the one I'm on disability for -- includes loss of feeling in certain areas. My last dental exam was good except for medically necessary orthodontic treatment I was working through administrative barriers to get. The affected area was not visible during normal dental care. I could not figure out why I had been sick for months off and on. When I investigated further, I found that a tooth had broken through the jawbone, leaving the bone and the root exposed. The infection was already systemic. I called Wakefield immediately and explained the situation. They told me they would call in an oral surgeon and address the infection promptly. So I made the hour‑and‑a‑half drive. I showed the triage nurse, who confirmed it was serious and checked me in. Then I was placed in a makeshift curtain room, and they decided they did not want to call the surgeon after all. To avoid EMPLA liability, the staff changed "systemic infection with exposed bone" to "dental pain." Keep in mind I do not have feeling in that area -- I told them that -- so this was not even a possible mistake. They brought me discharge papers without further evaluation, treatment, labs, or anything. They handed me discharge papers with the problem relabeled to mischaracterize my situation. When I tried to show them the discrepancy, I was reframed as hostile. I was discharged in a dangerous and untreated medical state. Now I've had a recent infarction (heart attack) because the exposed bone remained untreated longer and the infection was ignored longer. I finally received antibiotics and had the area cleaned and covered by another hospital, but the infection is now in my heart and my life is in danger while another hospital tries to sort this out.

On a scale of 1 to 10, it was a 100!! They ordered a CT scan, and when the female ER attending physician came back into the exam room, she informed us that the CT scan showed nothing, no fractures, NOTHING!! She gave us the "choice" that either my mother could go HOME OR to a NURSING HOME!! The so- called "doctor" left the room and NEVER came back. So, in comes another male "doctor" or "PA" and he told us the same thing. Obviously, he had already read the first doctor's notes and only parroted what she said. The attending RN helped advocate for my mother and they FINALLY agreed to admit my mother to the hospital. If it had not been for that nurse, we would have been essentially "kicked out." Fast forward to that afternoon, the hospitalist on my mother's floor ordered an MRI, and guess what? My mother had a COMPRESSION FRACTURE IN HER LOWER BACK!!! She had to have surgical procedure on Thursday, August 6th!! Amazing how it could go from NOTHING to a 5-DAY STAY in the hospital and having to have a surgical procedure. If the MRI had been done in the ER to begin with, it would have made more sense BEFORE THEY STARTED TELLING US WE HAD TO BE DISCHARGED. I resent the fact that my mother was not treated the way she should have been. We were very scared and so worried. These medical providers swear to the Hippocratic Oath, but they do not seem to abide by it. I am sure that no one will say a word to these people and how they treated us and they will get to keep right on treating others this way. They sure don't hesitate to take your money though.

In January, I woke up in the middle of the night with a fever and scheduled an 8 a.m. appointment. While driving to the office, I received a call informing me that no Nurse Practitioner was available at that location and I would need to go to another facility. So, with a fever, I made the drive to the University Parkway location. Today, I scheduled an appointment for a sudden, sharp headache. Unbeknownst to me, the receptionist left a voicemail while I was en route. Upon arrival, she questioned whether I had received her message, but I hadn't even realized my phone rang. My call history showed the call came in just thirteen minutes before my appointment. Once again, the office was unstaffed--this time because the Nurse Practitioner had a family emergency. This repeated experience of last-minute cancellations due to lack of staff or poor communication is unacceptable, especially when patients are in urgent need of care. It suggests either chronic understaffing or a disregard for patients' time and well-being.
