I didn't expect a longer wait time when I had an appointment so be prepared for that.

Public libraries are a gem in our society. Where else could you borrow tons of books and leave with…read morethem for free! The library is a place for more than just books! Events, classes, and more can be found here for free as well. Not into books? You can check out Blu-ray or DVD movies as well! The kids side of the library can be loud (it's on the left as you walk in). If you want quiet you should head off to the right. You don't need to wander far to find a quiet desk or table. The only thing I wish our Library had more of was parking. During events or busy days the parking lot fills up very quickly and you can find yourself circling for a while. The street parking is limited as well. I'd definitely walk, but we live to far away.

This library is open everyday, so that's nice b/c none of the Sac Public Libraries is open on Sundays or Mondays. I can't believe this one is open even on Sundays, great for kids to hang out on a lazy Sunday afternoon. As I entered, there's the kids' area on the left side, it's like a separate wing altogether and it's nice and colorful in there. It's really big too, so kids must really enjoy that space and I saw quite a few kids there on a late weekday afternoon, maybe cuz it's summer time. Lots of kids books on shorter shelves and several kids' computers w/preloaded software for them. Back towards the entrance of the library you'll find the info/front desk where the librarians and assistants are available to help you find books etc. Then there's shelves of books and towards the back of the library, but still in the middle as you look in, there's a friends of the library book sale and an area where you can eat and there are a couple of vending machines so you can buy a snack and drink. There's even a charging stand with multiple cords for different phones if you need to recharge your phone. The right side of the library is where teens and adults sections are and there's a dedicated teens room, and a couple of study rooms as well as a huge and really nice study room named after some lady who's a local person of importance and the room is filled with old books and is pretty amazing to study in although it was kind of hot and stuffy in there so I just peeked in and didn't stay. Finally, towards the far right side of the library are all the circulating movie and TV DVDs and there were a ton compared to other libraries I've seen as well as CDs which interesting, is still popular here. And lots of seating and reading loungers, but mostly desk and chairs for studying. All in all this is a pretty nice and big library, older, but well-kept.

Judge Samuel McAdams unjustly thwarted the reversal of Judge Fall's erroneous rulings by staying Ms. Zhou's "motion to vacate" for 87 days without a valid reason, resulting in the motion being excluded from the mandatory 75-day ruling window. 3. Judge Stephen Mock, without considering the merits of the case or the pending motions, unjustly ordered Ms. Zhou to pay $45,000 in attorney's fees within 2 months, disregarding the fact that the defendant cited an outdated agreement to obtain the fees. Judge Mock then disqualified himself pursuant to CCP section 170.1 after refusing to allow the first amended complaint to stand. 4. When Ms. Zhou challenged Judge Mock's unjust attorney's fee ruling, Judge McAdams disregarded the case's merits and stayed the case "for all purposes," halting the proceedings against all other defendants. Video evidence shows Judge McAdams improperly removing Ms. Zhou from the Zoom hearing when she raised the issue of the defendants citing an outdated agreement to obtain attorney's fees, but he denied this occurrence when he disqualified himself using the excuse of making the recusal decision after the ruling window closed. It appears that delaying hearings and using the "ruling window" as an excuse to avoid facing the real issues is a common loophole exploited by some individuals within the legal system. 5. The defendant filed a frivolous complaint based on a concocted lie that could not sustain a demurrer. However, Judge Maguire stayed the demurrer motion to await the appeal result, citing the norm that demurrers are generally overruled. In fact, frivolous complaints cannot sustain a demurrer, but Judge Maguire refused to read and rule on Ms. Zhou's motion. When Ms.Zhou filed a motion to lift the stay, Judge Maguire acknowledged the complaint was unrelated to the appeal but nonetheless refused to rule on the demurrer. 6. The Yolo Superior Court clerk incorrectly invalidated Ms. Zhou's fee waiver, using an "automatic invalidation" rule. When Ms. Zhou searched online and challenged which rule they followed to invalidate the fee waiver, the court stated that it was an old rule, which had been outdated by a new rule about 1-2 years ago. However, the rule governing fee waivers, Cal. Gov. Code § 68639, has been in effect since 2009 and has never been outdated or updated. When questioned about the exact code of the rule that had expired and that the court used to invalidate Ms. Zhou's fee waiver, the court refused to provide an answer, citing "privacy issues." This demonstrates a clear misapplication of the law by the court clerk and a lack of transparency in the court's decision-making process. 7. Billionaire defendants' attorney, Ravinder Mehta, argued in the respondent's brief that the self-represented plaintiff should be treated as if represented by an attorney. TLDR: You are required to set up appointments for all visits now…read more After attempting to apply online (which didn't work) I happened to be in the area for the DMV so I figured I'd walk over as it's not stated anywhere online that you must have an appointment. When you get there the loud speaker announcement states they have appointments available within 5 days. I almost laughed because it's wildly inaccurate. I'd booked an appointment a few days before for the first one available - almost 3 weeks out. Even if you go by business days, it's not close to being accurate. Currently they'll let you sign in, get a number, wait for 30 minutes, then call your number, and at your window you'll be told to make an appointment and they'll refuse to help you further. It's absolutely bonkers and I've never seen anything like it. After I was told I could wait an additional 3-4 hours for the possibility of speaking with someone, I asked if like the DMV they could text me when someone can speak with me. No. No, they don't do that either. I left. I will say I ended up googling and found a great thread that talked about the different processes people have used to get into their non-working SSA accounts. I tried a few of them and was finally able to log in via IDme on an incognito window so I could download a statement of my account, which solved about half of what I needed. Overall, it was a pretty awful and extremely inefficient experience all around. Definitely would not recommend.

I have lived in Davis since I was very little and have grown up here. I have dealt with police in…read moremany places on many occasions and this police department is the best I have ever encountered. They are incredibly professional and respond pretty quickly considering their numbers. I do not have police in my family and I am a very pro 2nd Amendment, small government, and individual freedom. These things would usually conflict with love for police departments but Davis PD is very open and they do not abuse their power, at least in my opinion. This contrasts greatly with our Sheriff and our neighboring UC Police (both of which I have had bad experiences with). In Jr. High I was held at gunpoint by Carl's Jr. by several Davis PD and the Sheriff's Department. Someone thought I had a gun (I didn't) so of course, the police had to respond. Despite the felony stop and the unpleasant experience, I felt that they did their job and did not go beyond their power. No, the cuffs were not comfortable and being on the pavement sucked too, but compliance kept my mom and me alive and well. I have been unlawfully detained many times by UC Davis police and I think to have that many officers that do not know the law and to have such unprofessional officers on the force, is a disgrace. They seem more like a bunch of "bros" than professional peace officers. To be fair, I am judging these experiences from 4+ years ago; they have not bothered me since. Chief Black was an awesome Chief for many years and now we have Chief Pytel who is doing a great job as well. Davis PD also offers a free Citizen's Police Academy where you learn about your rights and about the different departments in the police department. I highly recommend people to take this course to learn about your rights. All police departments deal with scumbags and the people that we do not want to have to deal with. I judge the police on how they deal with these encounters and then how they treat the law-abiding citizens who request help. If they're constantly an a-hole, they probably should not be a police officer. Davis PD is not perfect by any means. The police should not be solving all of our problems anyways. However, these guys and gals do their jobs very well and I hope they keep up the good work they do for our community.

It even had a sign on Richards Blvd off I-80 going into town about Davis being the bicycle capital of the world (I'm paraphrasing, but, something to that effect) Road Traffic in Davis was minimal. It was always a fun place to grab some food. I will always give David credit for the variety of restaurants here! Fast forward to 2023...I absolutely adore Davis! I drop in from time to time to eat or stop by Trader Joe's for pure nostalgia. LOL. I remember getting around most of Davis pretty well without GPS. Absolutely hate the road traffic! I had a very unpleasant experience at this Social Security office due solely to the conduct of the…read moresecurity guard at the entrance. I approached the building during active rain and attempted to open the door, as one would normally do at any public building. The male security guard stationed at the main entrance, who was shorter in height, stocky in build, with black hair, dark eyes, and dark skin, abruptly stepped outside, physically blocked the door, and addressed me in a hostile, authoritarian manner. There was no visible signage or clear instruction indicating that visitors were required to wait for the guard to open the door, and I had no way of knowing this beforehand. Rather than showing basic courtesy or calmly explaining the procedure--especially given the weather--the guard chose to be confrontational and dismissive. The interaction felt like an unnecessary power trip and was completely inappropriate for a public-facing federal office. I am giving one star due to the lack of professionalism, courtesy, and basic human consideration shown by the security staff. This experience was avoidable and left a very negative impression.
