I had a gum graft done with Dr. Corwin and did not have a good experience. My consultation went…read morewell, but the day of the procedure, neither Dr. Corwin or the nurse, Regina, went over what exactly would happen. I had to ask specific questions to find out the process and what the recovery would be like, which was fine, but I would have appreciated a bit of explanation upfront. During the procedure, my mouth was numb but the numbing wore off towards the end and I could feel one of the stitches being put in. It brought me to tears and was painful. As a word of caution, the procedure is uncomfortable in general, where you can sense the cutting, there is a lot of pressure and stitches are flopped onto your face while they are being put in. If I were to have this procedure done again, I would opt for the anesthesia. I am not one to mind dental cleanings or procedures but this is an uncomfortable one. After the procedure, the nurse offered to bring me Advil, but because I was numb, I wasn't able to swallow the water to take it. The nurse laughed about the situation which really upset me, especially in the state I was in. When it came time for payment, the office staff did not have record of which payment option I had selected, even though I had called after my consultation to schedule my procedure and let them know my payment selection. So I had a bit of scrambling trying to recall what my husband and I had decided on payment wise, as I thought it would be on file and wouldn't be something I needed to worry about the day of the procedure. The doctor and staff were friendly and tried to make the best of the situation, but I will not be returning to Charlotte Perio for the second round of gum grafting, given the experience I had.

Instead of recommending an…read moreexpensive surgery right away, he recommended a stepped up cleaning program and monitoring program that has been ongoing for a few years now. That program has definitely mitigated the progress of the gum recession. Every interaction with Dr. Ficca indicates that he has the best interests of his patients in mind.

Appointment On Short Notice…read more I reached out to Dr. Haines who is my general dentist on short notice after I felt some sort of infection after having a wisdom tooth pulled at another office. Apparently, I was traveling a few days after my wisdom tooth was extracted and on the 5th day my mouth started to feel irritated and inflamed. Once I returned home, it was time to call and make an appointment for an oral evaluation, which was on the same day I called. After taking antibiotics and thoughly cleaning my teeth, the discomfort subsided, but I still attended to my scheduled appointment with Dr Haines. The wait time was minimal, which is usual at this office, and Cassidy took me to the examination room, listened to my concerns and took some x-rays for review. Dr. Haines took a good look, gently tapped a tooth or two to ensure I was not in any pain. He reassured me that my remaining teeth were in good shape. Most likely I had failed to keep the area clean, which was still healing from the pulled tooth. The antibiotics helped, but I made doubly sure to clean the area after every meal, and so far so good. Thank you Dr. Haines and Staff! I really appreciate the care and attention I have received.
