I was juggling time zones, continents, five cities, four airports, and a train station. Jenni composed a travel plan that had layovers with enough time to make connections, but still not too long that they would take up too much of my vacation! To say Joel Davis is incompetent at travel planning is just the beginning to a long list of grievances with his ability to travel plan for a group going to Japan. Airfare he quoted me was $700 more than what I managed to book myself AND it would've had me arrive in Japan 10 hours later the next day losing most of a full days worth in plans. Group came up with a list of locations in Japan we all liked to be for the hotel. Essentially near any rail station of Akihabara, Kanda, or Tokyo since all three right in a row and close to a lot of entertainment. Joel gave not a single option in the desired are and instead listed hotels 30 mins south by train near Shinagawa (trains in Japan are quick and efficient, this is a big distance). Joel essentially wasted heaps of our groups time constantly avoiding inquiries into hotels and caused delay after delay to hotel bookings. At this point I wanted to abandon using Joel Davis but group kept with him and let Joel eventually book the Shinagawa Prince Hotel at what he assured would be $205/night before tax. Group so fed up with hotel planning, we didn't notice Joel snuck in higher hotel rates into the booking as it was all listed in JPY and group was behind on planning. Wasn't caught until hotel charged each room. Final price came out to $295/night after tax, a value beyond premium for hotels in that area, ANY website individually booked would have saved us over $100/night. Don't know what Joel's job even is other than to exorbitantly rip off clients. On top of that, every room booked was charged a $30 agent fee just to rip us off even more. Group had an even simpler request for staying in Kyoto where group just wanted to at Kyoto station or as close as possible to. Once again Joel gave options at area not close to the groups request or completely failed to give options meeting the groups requirements which were rooms with 2 beds. Group once again used Joel to book a hotel 1 station away from Kyoto, but to our surprise Joel booked multiple pairs of people into triple bed rooms that have a much higher rate. The amount of money wasted by Joel completely screwing up simple hotel bookings is staggering. Group asked several planning questions that Joel failed to answer in any meaningful manner and usually left group on our own to figure out logistics. read more

I used Kyra Lee at Davisville Travel. Most of everything went well, besides the transportation that was included because they left me at the airport. I was waiting for my bags. I had to catch a taxi in Cancun, Mexico, and they wrote me a receipt for $40 dollars however, charged my card $230.47. Kyra Lee said I would get reimbursed and I never did for the $40 dollars. I am still handling the overcharged with my bank. This was in September 2023. Smh!!! Why tell me that and you didn't resolved what happened to me!! read more

I used davisville travel to fly from San Jose to Tokyo-Narita (through LAX) and then back. The experience of working with davisville was relatively painless, and the flights to Tokyo (SJ, LAX, NRT) went fine, but the flight back to SJ was when things went wrong. When I got to Tokyo-Narita, I realized that the time between my arrival from NRT to LAX only gave me about 20 minutes to get through customs (45 minutes), transfer my bag from customs (15 minutes), go through TSA (30 minutes), then sprint to my flight in the domestic terminal. Obviously, by the time I reached the gate, my flight from LAX to San José had already departed. I had to call Delta to get transferred to a different flight (costing time and money) and deal with ensuring that my luggage was transferred to my new flight. This process was long, stressful, and extremely frustrating. All of this could've been avoided, had davisville accounted for the fact that I was changing from an international flight and would have to go through customs and immigration, when they scheduled my flight. I don't travel internationally very much, but this should be obvious. In the end, Delta was surprisingly helpful in resolving davisville's scheduling mistakes. This error was unfortunate, as up until that problem, davisville had been entirely pleasant to deal with, and the hassle of getting tickets was made easier. They also charge a flat fee instead of a commission, so they aren't plagued with the ethical problems of other travel agencies. Ultimately though, because of the obvious and frustrating scheduling error, I will not use this travel agency again. When I pay people to schedule my flights, I expect them to know more about the travel than I do. Unfortunely, this was not the case in my experience with davisville travel. read more

I had to plan a trip during Covid as I needed to travel to the East Coast and I have to say that Jenni was absolutely amazing. She assisted me every step of the way. She was so detailed and asked all the right questions and really helped me with my fears of flying during this pandemic on what to do and not to do. She spent the time explaining the steps on how to handle this. I would recommend Jenni and Davisville Travel to everyone that has to plan a trip. Jenni has helped me and my family on previous trips to Europe and Asia for personal vacations. She even planned a fantastic family reunion on a cruise several years ago. Highly recommend! Went in to explore the idea of doing a cruise with my mother, talked to Patti. She was not very helpful and seemed annoyed with us because we wanted to talk about options in general instead of having a specific destination ready for her to write the ticket. Finally got some good ideas from her but it was like pulling teeth. My mother is 91 years old and was a travel agent for 30 years, and after we left she was devastated (as was I) about the way we were treated. read more

I'm planning a trip to Spain and Portugal a year from now. I reached out several times to Michelle B., the Office Manager of Davisville Travel, seemed a little put-off. I dismissed her vibe as a lot of people are void of a phone personality. She is listed as a specialist on Spain. I'm traveling with 3 other adults for a stay of 10-12 days. I sent her the particular details of the trip as to provide a crystal-clear picture of our intensions, our interest and why we were traveling together. The email was directed to her specifically. I received an email from her employee saying she would assist me because Michelle Bates was swamped with work. The email went on to say, she (the employee) could not give due diligence to the lowest cost because it would be "time consuming". She said Davisville Travel do not use Online Travel Agents (OTA's ie. Expedia) Really, that is why they are considered OVery condescending! I could book through Expedia or any other OTA. I mention that our plans were to book a home during our stay on an island not far from our destination 10/28/2019 AAA booked a lovely trip for us for the price of their Roadside membership. Didn't use it because they did not book Ibiza and in-country flights. We went on the trip to Barcelona, Ibiza and Madrid Spain, Lisbon, Portugal and London UK. I booked the trip myself for 3 ladies flying in at different times. All airlines, accommodations and excursions. Even a private tour of London. One month long trip. see Trip Advisor "Girls Trip" and I used Secret Escapes....best OTA. Booked some hotels direct and the hotels honored the prices online. Booked a trip to Disneyland for my first time with davisville with Kathryn. It was the greatest experience ever. I recently booked a trip thru Davisville Travel with Michele Bates. While on the runway sitting on the plane to depart for Vegas the airport shut down due to bad weather. We were flying Spirit and it was impossible to get an answer from them when our flight would be re-scheduled. It took literally 16 hrs to get thru to Spirit and be able to speak with someone about our flight. Our flight ended up being cancelled with nothing else available until two days later. My wife and I were at a loss as to what we were going to do, as we had not purchased any insurance for our trip. We could have literally been out $2000 with no fault of our own because of bad weather. We contacted Michelle and she went above and beyond what anyone could ask. She was able to get everything refunded and re-scheduled our entire trip for the next month. My wife and I were ecstatic. Michelle is someone who regards her position as more than just a job, she really cares about who she is working with. In today's day and age that is breath of fresh air!
