Best Indian food in Mex City. Incredible takeout. Every dish was carefully prepared and flawlessly spiced.

NOT QUITE LIKE INDIA BUT STILL GOOD - So it's hard to find good authentic Indian in Mexico City for…read moresome reason and often that means you need to sacrifice. But Tandoor near Polanco is a nicely decorated, open, spacious, and well serviced option. The staff is friendly and attentive, and the dishes while slightly expensive are still a reasonable value for the quality. Purists will not appreciate the beef dishes or the Pakistani dishes sprinkled into the menu, and the dishes are notably lighter in ghee so less rich than true India cooking, but the flavors are solid and the variety is good. They also serve free mint and classic raitas and some mango pickle with your meal, which each are excellent. Overall while you can find reasons to nitpick on authenticity, if you can get over that you can have a genuinely nice meal in a lovely place. All that said the naan was just meh, so maybe explore the other breads. Overall worth a visit so happy eating from John Seeto!

Tandor: The Perfect Curry Fix in Mexico City…read more After days of indulging in all the tacos I could find--because how could you not?--a late-night craving for curry struck. As one does, I set out with Google Maps in hand (and maybe a quick peek at Yelp for good measure) and walked until I found Tandor, a cozy spot that promised to satisfy my longing for something rich, spicy, and comforting. The restaurant exuded a warm, inviting vibe, the kind of place that makes you want to linger over a pint of Kingfisher while your meal is being prepared. Which is exactly what I did. Sitting with my beer, I watched the staff expertly craft the dishes I'd soon be taking back to my hotel room. Once home, I unwrapped my takeaway, and Tandor delivered exactly what I was hoping for: a good, solid curry. The flavors were bold yet balanced, the portions generous, and every bite hit that familiar, comforting note that makes curry such a universal favorite. If you find yourself in Mexico City with a craving for Indian food, look no further. Tandor will take care of you, no fuss, no frills--just great curry and a satisfying experience.

My wife, daughter, and I were looking for a taste of home during our Mexico City visit, and Chef Dharam delivered beyond anything we hoped for. This isn't fancy restaurant food. It's the kind of cooking that tastes like someone's mom or grandmother made it just for you. And that, for our family, is the highest compliment possible. Chef Dharam is the real deal. You can tell he genuinely loves what he does. The Palak Paneer was creamy, well-spiced, and comforting in the best way. The Aloo Parantha was stuffed so generously (not the skimpy kind you sometimes get) and paired perfectly with a side of yogurt. We also had Chhole Bhature and regular parantha, and every single thing on the table was finished. My daughter, who can be quite the food critic, cleaned her plate without a word of complaint. That says it all. Here's the moment that really got us though. We asked about Bhindi Masala and Chef Dharam told us okra was out of season. Instead of just shrugging it off, he offered to personally get some in the next day and told us to check with him before coming back. We honestly didn't think much of it, but sure enough, he came through. The Bhindi Masala was ready and it was fantastic. My wife was thrilled! That kind of thoughtfulness is rare anywhere in the world, let alone in a small neighborhood restaurant. Our whole family is already planning our next Mexico City trip around coming back here. Chef Dharam, thank you so much. You made our visit truly special.

We started with samosas and then had a shrimp dish, mussels, and a chicken dish. The shrimp was my favorite. A unique flavor. The chicken was perfectly cooked and the accompying sauce was rich and flavorful. Ambiance was nice but the music was a bit too loud at times. Overall an excellent restaurant. Glad we were able to come here during our visit of CDMX.

I visited Masala Y Maiz on a Monday night with a party of four. We struggled to get reservations…read moreover a two week period but we were able to get one at 5:15. The restaurant supposedly closes at 6 PM. We arrived, and I immediately felt very rushed to order. All the wines on the menu are priced by the bottle and by the glass I tried to order a glass of wine and I was told that they didn't have that bottle open so I could not get it. This is a Michelin star restaurant....... I was brought two other options that they had open to choose from and never provide provided prices.. I chose one of the two but did not like it. When the table was ready to order a bottle of wine, I wanted the original bottle that I had chosen but unfortunately, was brought the wrong bottle. Again something that shouldn't happen at a Michelin star restaurant. The food was OK, people rave about the samosas, but they tasted very overcooked to me. This was the third Michelin star restaurant I visited in Mexico City and by far the least impressive. The flavors of the food did have a lot of depth, but by no means were they exceptional in any way. I was not able to take pictures of the food because it was so dark in the restaurant where we were seated and I did not want to use the flash on my camera. Will not return.
