Jason has been amazing to work with so far! We are on a vacation and it dog started acting up at the vet to the point where the vet staff couldn't handle him. I called Jason and he went above and beyond and said he would be able to pick him up from boarding at the vet and take him right into his training program. He even went out of his way to get our dog the food he eats since the vet didn't have any to give him. I will update this once the training is over but so far he has been very responsive and willing to help us in our emergency to try and find someone to get our dog and help train him so this doesn't happen again. read more

I hired Jason for the evaluation of my 6 month old puppy. His "calling card" is that he comes to your house to evaluate and then train. I wanted to learn how to prevent my rapidly growing big dog from lunging and pulling while leash walking. Jason showed me his training "skills" by walking my puppy with a choker chain collar. He FORCEFULLY yanked the choker to the point of lifting my pup off the ground. My neighbors who saw this, as well as myself, were outraged. When I told Jason he was finished, he tried to convince me to board my dog with him for 2 weeks. After the display of his training "skills" there was no way my pup would be anywhere near him. I literally paid his "evaluation fee" to force him to leave because I wanted nothing to do with him or his "training." Be aware he tells lots of stories about his past trainings and experiences and one has no way to validate anything he says. read more

He supposedly "trained" their dog for three weeks and the dog still had continuous issues after leaving his place and did not act like he had ANY training, AND they paid $250 for an E collar and still have not received it after months of trying to get it. DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER HIM!! We hired him a few years ago to help with our females that were not getting along. We scheduled our 2 weeks with him and were told just before we dropped them off that we were not scheduled for another 2 weeks and that he was full at the time. We waited and dropped them off. He would not let us go anywhere near the kennels or past the driveway. We gave him meds for our one dog who has seizures and asked him to let us know when she ran out. He never contacted us and I knew she was due to have more meds. He didn't contact me until a few days later to drop the meds off. We set a time for me to drop them off and on my way there, he messaged me that he was leaving and wouldn't be home. I had to leave the meds with his 10ish year old son. When we went to pick them up on a Sunday, he acted like he was pissed at us because we were about 10 minutes late. He said we were supposed to be there earlier for a training session. I told him we were never informed of this. He said it was in the contract. I still have the contract and it says he will schedule a training session on Saturday and inform us of our time. All he kept saying to any question or complaint was that "it's in the contract." I asked him to show me as I didn't have the contract with me and he refused. We regret terribly that we paid him for a service he never did and was a complete arrogant jerk about. Our dogs still have to be separated and take turns in and out of a cage. read more

Jason at Dayton Dog Trainer is a great salesman and will come in your home and give you a wonderful pitch but that is what it is. He sold my elderly parents on a 3 week $2000 boarding/training in his home. You bring the dogs food, crate and bedding he provides nothing. When I took my mother and her 5 MONTH OLD Australian shepherd PUPPY to drop off for this training I voiced my concerns that the cost was a bit much she is a puppy and just needed basic training ie leash walking, breaking of nipping, and a little potty she never went in her cage but did like to find spots in the house occasionally, this was not boot camp. I asked to see where she would be kept and he said " I am going to keep her in the house and that is my home you are not coming in". Wait a minute?? it is also your business isn't it??? Red flag #1. I told him I would be driving by to check up on her, not interrupting training, not coming on his property just driving by on the country road making sure she wasn't chained up outside or in the small chainlink pen he has on his property ( btw it does not appear that he has any fencing around his property like he told my dad he had). This irritated him immensely did not like my accusatory attitude, What? Red flag #2. I explained I was not trying to be accusatory but I didn't know him, I thought $2000 was alot for training(it's not service dog or K9 training for petes sake) and I was just looking out for my elderly parents he calmed a bit. My mom was very upset about leaving her puppy and I told him they thought maybe they had made a mistake signing up for this he offered to reschedule or do in home training in the spring ( 6 months later??, she would have been trained by then) but stated no refunds my contract is iron clad (make sure you read every word before signing) My mother did not want to loose her money (they had paid cash for a large discount Red flag #3) so we left the dog Just an fyi they don't use names with the dogs so if you call to check on your pet you'll have to describe the dog to him... how can you not use the dogs name to train them???? Week 1 mom calls to check on her dog " She's great doing well". I drove by several times different times of the day past his home down the road 30 minutes turned around drove by second time on the way back each time, never once saw him outside with her but maybe just timing right. 2nd week mom calls to check on her dog " which one is she we have 2 that look alike????" Mon describes her "Oh ya she's the one with anxiety, shaking and diarrhea.... " WHAT????!! Mom is extremely upset about her dog and discusses with dad about picking her up a week early. They decide to go get her She calls him back wants to pick her up but asks about the 3 classes that are suppose to take place after for them to learn what he has taught her. "I am not going to waste my time or yours she hasn't completed the training, you know some dogs just get that way, they just don't want to listen" um she's been there 2 full weeks what have you been doing? They get there to pick her up my dad asks about the lack of training the dog received. Jason states " 2 weeks isn't enough time she didn't complete the course". My dad states " you had her for 2/3s the time what have you been doing?" "Well the first week is getting them comfortable with us" but you tell my mom 2 weeks later she has anxiety,shaking, and diarrhea? Sounds like she wasn't comfortable with you, Why? Please keep in mind this is a puppy and an Australian shepherd, a smart dog, though a bit hyper. Puppies are happy and love people they learn quickly if you really work with them, I admit my parents did not try to leash train her before, they are older and are dealing with some major medical issues that is why my dad sought outside help ( I wish he had talked to me first) but she was learning the things quickly that they worked on like playing fetch and we know how hard it is to get a dog to give you the ball back. When my dad asks if she were left another week would she be trained? Jason tells him she probably would have required more training because she was a difficult dog, but is is an experienced trainer with 23 years experience????? She learned to sit and walk on a leash that's $140 at Petsmart, 1 hour classes for 6-8 weeks. He had her 24/7 for 13 days we dropped her off at 6 pm on a Sunday and picked her up at 330pm on a Saturday 2 weeks later. What the hell have you been doing? 2 things! When pressed about the handler classes Jason did back peddle telling my parents they could come out for those but he didn't see the point but said they did pay for them so they could come but stated he didn't think it would do much good the dog isn't trained. The dog was outside on a chain when they got there they get their dog. Jason says "you didn't bring a crate right". BEWARE!!! First of all, I will tell you to check the BBB, this business has 2 previous complaints that mirror the problems that I have, so now a total of 3 families that have had their dogs returned to them with UTIs! That is not common for dogs, that is a sign of pure neglect (dehydration)!!! Not only are my dogs not better behaviorally, they both now have more anxiety from being poorly treated, including separation anxiety from each other and nervousness around strangers...that only happens when they have not been treated properly! They were also returned in poor health (BOTH dogs had UTIs, one had lost significant weight-some weight is normal due to stress, but lots is concerning), I have two large dogs, the one drank 3 bowls of water as soon as I got him home and the other wouldn't eat until I got him to the vet to get his UTI treated-and at no time was I notified that my dogs were ill!! That is a pattern with this company!!!!!!! Please, please do not let your dogs end up in this awful situation! On top of not getting the services I paid for, I was treated horribly by this business owner, constantly belittled and chastised---I'm paying money for help! In summary, this dog training service was a huge mistake for us. We reached out in May after our dog starting having fights with his friends. Jason evaluated the behavior and said that he could do "behavior modification" training to stop this. We were desperate for a solution so a high rate felt worth while. It took two full months to get him scheduled. We drove out dog over an hour to Jason's house and were sent away for an additional two weeks due to a "scheduling error." Within a week of our dog, Kirby, being at Jason's, we were called to pick him up with a horrible cough. Suspected kennel cough by out vet, our dog was vaccinated... we were told most likely there was other dogs at the facility not vaccinated. No proof of vet care was required prior to drop off. Kirby was feeling better by the end of the week. We spent a full month with multiple contact attempts to reschedule. Phone calls were ignored. Jason refuses to stand behind his services. We will not be sending our dog back the facility with no reliability in communication. After thorough attempts to describe our poor experience by both my husband and I, we were refused a refund and hung up on. Payment for services is prior to scheduling and required on a non-secured online method. I was unable to report a claim for no services. read more

We utilized Jason's services in the fall of 2014 and we are still dealing with the negative fallout of his training. We planned to go out of town during the training period (told 10 days), and when we called to arrange drop off, he told us that he was too busy to take our German Shepherd that day and we could bring her next week. When we told him that we had no other arrangements for her, he said we could bring her, but he didn't know when he could start with her. For perspective, we had been planning this time period for nearly a month. We did not receive any calls back, any texts or any other updates for the 10 days. We tried over and over again to get in touch with Jason. When we called on the 10th day to arrange pickup, he didn't know which dog I was referencing. When he remembered, he said she was doing fine, but should probably stay another two weeks - for an additional $2,000. Needless to say, my husband went out to pick her up that day. She came back fearful, with tracheal damage that the vet discovered a few months later, most likely due to rough handling with a collar. She smelled, had lost weight and Jason never replied to any of my calls asking about his training methods and how she had behaved while she was there. SAVE YOUR MONEY!!! We found this place online and called, and he told us about his services. He came to our home to do an assessment of our dog. I was skeptical about the price ($2000, but we received a $500 discount), but he ensured us,our dog would receive the best training. We took our dog to his residence for two weeks of training. I called to check on my dog on day 2 of training, just to hear of his progress, and the trainer, Jason, didn't know which dog I was talking about. He wasn't sure if he was fed or what time he ate because he didn't do the feeding. WTH?! Okay... For $1,500 HE SHOULD know about the dogs in his care and he should know if they've been fed on time (and if they are eating). After that, I was wondering if my dog was truly getting the training we paid for. I made a few more calls over the two weeks naturally, to check on my dog and his status. Most calls (I think he answered 2 calls of mine in total during 2 weeks), he ignored and didn't respond to my texts as he always claimed I texted to the wrong phone. Really??? Overall, on a scale of 1-10, he gets a 5 for his training prowess and a 3 for his professionalism and courtesy towards my husband and I as Pet Parents. He was very condescending and aloof to my concerns and I thought that was wrong since I'm paying $1,500 plus food and crate, for services which in the end, we did NOT receive. Our dog a German Shepard may have faired better elsewhere for the money. We see minor changes in our dog but we are still trying to instill the training (albeit very little) Jason showed us the day we picked him up. We are a military family and we are highly disappointed in his professionalism (we are non-smokers and he smoked during his training and our dog's crate still smells like smoke even after cleaning) and service overall. Oh my word! I have had the exact same issues as everyone else when it came to him. This is a legit scam and I even have texts messages to prove that he told me he only had 7 complaints in 20 years. I have read over 10 bad reviews that people have had in the last 4 years up to the last few months. I couldn't trust him with my money so no way in hell I'm going to trust him with my dog. I paid, 1,624 upfront and he was certain my lab would start in 2 weeks. The evening before I was to take my dog out, i messaged to tell him i would be out the next day for drop off. He messaged back and said he had to push back 2 weeks. Keep in mind he never did message me ahead of time until 24 hours before I was to drop my dog off. 2nd time, my dog got sick so that was on my end. 3rd time now its may 1st when my dog was to go for 2 weeks on February 20th. Wants to tell me because of weather and their lake where they train is flooded, Google his address where is the lake bro? I would not trust Jason with a goldfish! I recently adopted a one year old German Shepherd/Hound mix from our local dog shelter. She is fearful of strangers and we also wanted to get guidance on how to walk her on the leash without her pulling. Jason came out to our house to evaluate our dog. He told us she was a German Shepherd/Pit Bull mix without even knowing her DNA. He told us we would have to pay $50.00 for the evaluation unless we signed up for classes with him that night. He told us she was fearful aggressive and that was bad. He told us the shelter should never have allowed us to adopt her and should have had her euthanized instead. He told us he could help us for $2,100 dollars. She would have to be boarded with him for a few weeks. He told us he was new at this when after reading his reviews I found that he has been doing this for 4 years! The way he frightened me about our dog's future without his training was very upsetting to the point where I couldn't speak about the incident to my son until I calmed down. I didn't read these Yelp reviews before hiring Jason the "dog trainer". Here I am in 2021 with the same issue as someone else in 2015, 1017. He throws red flags in your face when you talk to him don't let yourself buy in to his version of a terrible way to do business. At his place my dog got sick and he called to have him picked up. We wanted to take care of our ill dog anyway. He told us we could bring him back to continue training and the interruption would not harm his two weeks of training so far. It seems my dog was sick because he was kept in a cage in a barn with no climate control. He is a long hair breed. We tried for two weeks to call him with no answer. I made it a project to get through so one day I made a project to call until he answered. He yelled and hung up. Don't pay cash up front. Do check his facilitie. DONT DO IT!!! WAY over priced. Charged $2500 (supposedly this was a 2-dog discount) for 2 weeks of training in HIS home... While they were there, he had no idea who I was when I called to check on the dogs. He had no idea if our dogs had been fed or what stage of training they were in. When we picked them up, the only difference we saw in them was the weight loss... they were both terrified. How do I know if he did any training at all, or if my dogs just sat in cages for the 2 weeks - no way to know because there was absolutely no training evident. In addition to the astronomical price I paid for the 2-weeks, I also paid an additional $450 for 3 in-house training sessions (supposedly so he can teach us how to apply the dogs new "skills" in our home). He never came to the house, never returned phone calls, never responded to texts.... We are currently trying to get a refund for the additional $450 but arent holding our breath..... read more

I hired Jason to potty train my german shepard. he was purchase at a pet store (i Know!!) so he thought his kennel was the restroom. He could already sit, stay, walk on a leash. he had zero disobedient issues. a very loving sweet GS. just needed potty training. after two weeks of in-home training at his house we called and he said he needed another week. total of three weeks. i will never forgive myself for leaving my dog there. I kept asking for pics or facetiem which he offers and it never happened. when we picked him up he was covered in urine and feces. i asked jason immediate WTF and he said that my dog was a filthy animal and quite frankly he was tired of giving him a bath. the smelled was so bad we had to roll the windows down going home. he was under weight and had swollen paws. we took him to the vet and he had infection in his paws and the vet said he was 8 lbs under weight and had lost 12 pounds since his last visit. I hired him because he said he was a K9 police officer, had created and started the K9 program in his distrinct, prior miltary and was certified. I have never sued anyone in my life but i took him to court. during the court trail it was discovered he was never a police officer but a park ranger, for less than a year. It was implied he was going to be let go but he moved on before that happen. he had an other than honorable discharge from the service and he has zero license to do what he does. I know he has plenty of wonderful reviews and how that is i do not know. but this is a honest review and my dog was abused, sat in his own waste and had to go on medications. i sued him in kettering ohio courts so by all means look it up, it is public records. i did not do it for money but for justice for my dog.for three weeks my dog suffered. he is a scam artist, he is charming and knows how to sell you anything. for your pets, please do not go to him. what if you are one of the unlucky ones, do you want to chance it with you beloved pet. Do not let what happened to my family happen to yours ! The trainer came to our home for a "demonstration" of their services. He demonstrated and outlined his many qualifications and then like bamboozled SUCKERS we paid him $750 up front as requested. I know! I know! This was VERY unwise and being 40+ years old I cannot believe that we did that. Because after one "in-home" session, the trainer did not return. He had excuses (wife's car broke down, his car in garage, we called him to "skip" a week) and then he missed a session with no call. When I called him, intending to get the thing back on track, he ended up hanging up, not picking up when I called back ?? And we haven't been able to get ahold of him since. I agree with the other review. SAVE YOUR MONEY!! We got a similar "offer", $1500 for the first week, then $500 a week for each additional but he "gave" us the third week "free". Jason is extremely unprofessional. I also agree that he is aloof and condescending. His responses to our letters and the complaint to the BBB are snotty, curt and immature. Our dog did NOT receive any of the training he stated she would. He states she was there for a "board and rehab" not a "board and train" yet, when we went to pick her up he was teaching us how to walk her on a leash then stated that was a "bi-product" of the training! Our dog had resource guarding over food and he stated in a letter to us that he had her eating out of other dogs bowls!! He accused us of not listening to his advice because he told us to feed her separately from the other dogs and we did not. WE DID, in fact, feed them separately. He assumed he knew this information . She attacked our other dog (on the couch, no food involved) the day after she came home from "training". Jason refers to his "18 years" of training as if that makes up for his lack of ability to train. He has literally lied about everything he told us. Things that we KNOW he stated to us, he is denying. I would encourage people to read the complaints on the BBB website. He accused me of being an "emotional wreck" because I was teary when we left her there. I had a bad feeling from the beginning about him but, my partner felt like he was "ok". He always makes it a point to say that you have to call/text before you head his way. If he didn't have anything to hide, that wouldn't be necessary. I am glad the other reviewer was able to see "minor changes" in their dog. We saw NONE! PLEASE do your research. Make sure that the trainer you are using is certified. You can find a list on the The Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers. Please do your research.
