In mid-summer as many as seven to nine "taxis" meet incoming trains from NYC, ALL with varying rates. As if anyone with wheels can run a taxi! There is no fare consistency. This summer competitor Carlos was $15 for one mile. then S18. Then $20. Now wants $24. For one mile! And is very snippy. Not Ted! They will lie to you about their fare rates per person over the phone and once they have you in the car, in the dark, away from your pick up or drop off location they will tell you how much you NOW have to pay in order to go any further. If you refuse the boss on the end of the walkie talkie suggests that the ladies be dropped off in the dark on the side of the road. Very wonderful manners. They will not offer to take you back to your pickup location. You are literally being held hostage or put in a potentially dangerous situation if you do not pay them what they ask. They are especially guilty of raising their rates to astronomical levels on holidays, and weekends. This place is run by a bunch of goons. I had initially called a cab company I had found on yelp with much higher reviews but when they were unable to meet our request they gave me the number to East East. They claimed they would give us a good rate. They did not! When I let them know we required a van for 5 people (6 bodies with the driver) they said they had one and would send it. We were given a regular sedan, lucky for them we were all tiny girls and could make it work, but not everyone had a seatbelt and this was HIGHLY ILLEGAL.
