I booked a trip with Main Street Drivers. I gave them my credit card which was not suppose to be charged ( just hold my reservation) but they charged the entire amount on my card the next day. I had a death in the family and needed to cancel the trip I called days before the actual trip to cancel and get a refund, they said they would call me back. They never did. Since the region is pretty rural, you can't rely on Ubers or taxis when trying to get around, so it was great knowing we had our own designated driver that allowed us the freedom to make our own itinerary (he also offered great suggestions!) We were camping in Watkins Glen State Park over Labor Day weekend and Main St. Drivers came directly to our campsite. Our driver Frank was amazing! He was very knowledgeable about the area, he gave suggestions, had a map of the area with all the spots, and was very open to what we thought we wanted to do. He brought snacks, water, and a book and hung out while we went into each winery/brewery, and after a bit, he came inside and offered to take a picture of our group. I was looking for winery tour companies that were dog friendly and came up short. Main Street Drivers saved the day since they were driving my car. Have you been to therapy? I would suggest doing so before hiring this service because if something goes awry, as it did with me, you'll be equipped with the tools to converse with, in my view, the emotionally immature owner of this company. Basically customers pay this company and they provide a driver to drive your personal vehicle. When we arrived at our hotel, I messaged our driver that we were waiting in the lobby. This seemingly teenaged or early-twenties kid rolls out of his car wearing sloppy sweatpants and carrying two water bottles of propel water. Instead of meeting us in the lobby, he texts me that he's waiting by the bench outside the lobby ( where I could see him, and he could see me?) I stepped outside and asked, "are you our driver?" he says 'yes' and asks which is our car. Not only did he not introduce himself to us, but he wouldn't even make eye contact with me. Hm, won't make eye contact, sweatpants, propel water (aka electrolyte water)... I thought to myself, "is this person high??" We decided, after this incredibly strange interaction that we neither wanted this kid driving our car nor did we want to be in a car with him for 5 hours. The owner of the company called me a few minutes later and asked what happened. While explaining what went down, he interrupts me and tells me that I sound "very angry." If you are a woman existing on planet earth, you can understand how incredibly insulting something like that is. He asked me what happened, and now I'm "angry" for answering? I went on to explain this kid's weird, anti-social behavior, and how he didn't even introduce himself to us. The owner defended this kid saying, "he's one of my best drivers," and that my expectation that he introduces himself to us and not look like, I don't know, a total slob kebab was "expecting too much." The owner also went on to say that this kid worked for him for two years. From my perspective, everything I was being told in this conversation lacked credibility. When booking our reso, the owner was so overwhelmed, it took him 3 days to get back to me. I assess that he didn't really have a driver for us and this was someone's kid he hired on the fly for the job. The other reviewers for this company talk about how knowledgeable the drivers are about not only the vineyards, but their respective wines. This kid couldn't even tell me on my list of wineries I researched where they were located and told me he didn't drink. PEANUT GALLERY OF THE INTERNET, please, let me know if this is expecting too much. While I'm here, I'd be remiss to not mention that, when the owner was charging my credit card over the phone, I asked for the total and he replied, "I don't know, $240 or something like that." In case you're wondering, the "something like that" was a 4% credit card fee he's going to charge you and dodge confirming. I mean, it's a $10 charge; who cares? Just let people know? I'll take the rest of my complaints up with the better business bureau, but I would recommend steering clear of this business. read more

I highly recommend this service to anyone who is in the Watkins Glen/Seneca Lake area. We had such a great experience with our driver. She was very knowledgeable, professional and made the trip awesome! She even told us about a beautiful winery that we didn't know about called Miles that had gorgeous lake views and it had tasty frozen wine drinks right on the water! The prices are very reasonable. It came out to a little over $200 for a 5 hour trip including gratuity. Definitely worth it! This is the best way to see the wineries of Seneca Lake. Our driver was great. He had similar interests as us and we liked talking to him. He was a great guy! Setting up the trip however, was not great. I booked the trip on June 9th and was expecting an email with the confirmation and some winery recommendations. There was a "glitch" in their website and they could not send us the confirmation after I provided my credit card info. Stuff happens and I understand that it was beyond their control but after a week of not hearing back days I had to reach out. I wish they had reached out to me and informed me of this. They were not able to email me my confirmation until 13 days after I booked. They also charged me for 5 hours initially and not 4. They did not provide winery suggestions until the day of the trip. I also tipped our driver in cash but then they later charged my card with the standard tip rate so I basically tipped our driver twice. We also went 15 minutes over so they rounded up to the nearest half hour (which is in their policies) I just thought they might let that go since the booking process did not go well. There was only 3 of us going on the trip so maybe we were not priority but my experience with them was not great. read more

We had an amazing experience with MSD and Steve, our driver!!! We were on Seneca Lake for my 40th girls birthday weekend and it couldn't have went any better with our driver. He was very personable, professional, but fun, very sweet and attentive, he dropped us off at the door and picked us up the same, he recommended how to maximize our time and had some great suggestions on some wineries that we didn't know about, he took pictures and also carried our stuff to the car without even asking. Our driver was Steve and he was great! He reached out about a week before our wine trip to get to know us and types of wineries we like. He showed up early on our day and was a great tour guide! He had great places to recommend and knew a lot about the area and each individual winery. SO THIS IS A STORY ALL ABOUT HOW STEVE FLIPPED OUR LIVES UPSIDE DOWN. just kidding but not really. we booked a girls' weekend for feb21-23 and decided to use Main Street's services for our full day of wine touring. Steve did not disappoint. He picked us up promptly in our hotel lobby at our designated time with a smile and we were off. We let him take the lead on the wineries since he knows best based on our wine preferences. At every winery we each had at least 2 wines that we absolutely loved. Some of them even waived our tasting fee because we were with the OG of the FLX. Conversation was awesome. Stories were better. Safe driving and gave great suggestions for dinner and drinks around the lake. Will 10000% book with Steve again when we are back. AND WE WILL BE BACK, BABY. Cost wise it was absolutely the most affordable option. You're driven around in the comfort of your own vehicle and just need a full tank to start it off. This driving service was the best thing to come across for a small girls trip weekend. James was very helpful with booking the service and responding to questions. Contacted them a few days before needing the transportation. Talked to James the owner. Had set everything up, pick up time, location, drop off. He took my credit card info and everything. Had confirmed the reservation. Day of our event comes, and tried to contact them again as he said the driver would contact me the day of. James would not answer the phone and ignored multiple phone calls. At the time of pick up, no one arrived. Our special occasion was ruined because of their terrible service. In the finger lakes where Uber is not readily available, this was terrible. I received a phone call from him an hour after our pick up time, and he left a voicemail, saying that they were over booked "And these things just happen sometimes" and then called back again saying that two drivers became available and they could "make something happen" as we were already at our event. His continuous calls while we were at our event after the fact that he had already stood us up we're unacceptable and incredibly unprofessional. Do not recommend trying to use this service. He also worked as a chef at several of the restaurants in town so he had the inside scoop on which restaurants were hot and which were fading. Will was both prompt and polite. Tried to use Main Street Drivers, referred by a friend who used last summer for a vineyard tour. I am going for the same reason and wanted to be safe/not drink and drive. The website reservation would not go through so I sent as a quote. E-mail quote for 4 hours (3 hour minimum) was $168 which included 20% gratuity ($35/hour). I called to confirm booking and was told that the quote was wrong, the website says $40/hour for weekends, which was nowhere to be found. Long story short, one of the folks traveling with me was on speakerphone with me and asked if (James I assume??) would honor the quote, he told us no he would not - the rate was higher and that was that. I reminded him we were coming based on a referral from last year where the rate was $35/hour on the weekend, he told me he's been charging $40/hour for weekends for over 4 years so I was wrong. My friend asked again why he wouldn't honor the rate and he told us if you want to yell, find someone else to yell at and hung up on us. Very unprofessional...and hey buddy, have you looked at your website or email confirmations you are sending out?? The funny thing is do I really care about $5 more per hour? No. It's the principal about it, we will find another transportation company but wanted to share the unpleasant experience with fellow yelpers on the bate and switch tactics they seem to use.. read more
