Our grass overgrew, the dead leaves from our palm trees piled up, and we had yards and yards of vines growing along our fence and yard. We found Polyscapes after doing some light searching on Home Advisor.
We decided to call the company for an estimate to get our yards back in order, and to also cut down the 4 palm trees in our back yard that we preferred not to have (trees were planted by the previous owner of our house). Poly was quick to schedule an appointment to come out to our house for an estimate just a day or two after we reached out to him. He was very knowledgeable about the types of plants and grass we have at our house, and was on the same page with what we were trying to do with the yards. His estimate to remove all 4 palm trees came in just over $400 total, which was a great deal compared to some of the other tree services in the area that charge $500+ for a single tree removal. After discussing the effort involved, he sounded very confident that the tree removal and yard "rehabilitation" could be accomplished with a single day's work with himself and his crew, so we scheduled the service for the upcoming weekend.
The weekend arrived, and unfortunately it was one where rains were heavy and non-stop. At the time, I felt the appointment was in jeopardy since I couldn't see how it would make sense to have the yard work done. I texted Poly asking if we should reschedule, and he called me back to say we can proceed as planned with the tree cutting, but he and his crew will need to come back another day for the grass and yard cleanup. I reconfirmed if he was sure about working in the rain, and he assured me it was fine. He arrived at our house as scheduled, and went straight to work on the trees. Within about 10 minutes, all 4 trees were cut down. I was honestly in awe at how much he made the work look so effortless, which included having to climb up two of the trees to cut them down so they would not fall onto a tent we have in our back yard. Mind you, this was also in the rain, and he didn't complain once about it. The rest of the time he spent cutting the trees up into pieces to haul away to the dump, which took around an additional hour and a half total. Overall, he was at my property for less than 2 hours. He also talked to me about cutting down a couple of larger plants I have growing in our front yard, which I had mentioned a desire to cut down at our estimate appointment a few days prior. Because he had some extra room in his truck from cutting down the palm trees, he proceeded to cut down the additional 2 plants, free of charge. After the work was completed, he worked with us on setting up another appointment for his crew to come back and complete the yard work. He was able to accommodate us on the following Wednesday.
That Wednesday, he and his crew arrived and went straight to work on the yard. At the time, I was working from home, and they made it a point to try not to disturb me as much as possible, which I really appreciated. Aside from a break for lunch, they worked non-stop to complete the job as quickly as possible, and I was more than satisfied with the end result. Because our grass had been so overgrown, the grass appeared on the dry/dead side once it was cut. Poly assured me that they took the necessary steps to spread the mulch and that with regular watering, the grass would grow in nicely and become green over a period of time. It's been about 3 weeks since he serviced our lawn, and we are definitely seeing the grass turn to a nice shade of green. It still needs some time to grow in thicker, but we can see the improvement at this stage already.
I highly recommend Poly and Polyscapes. I was more than satisfied with the work they performed, and very pleased with the cost of their services. My wife and I already expect to have him return for routine yard maintenance on a monthly basis, as the price he quoted for us was very reasonable.
