Some backstory...Imagix/Michelle has done our yearly photos for our son from ages 1 to now 5. (See my past reviews). From somehow capturing a perfect moment from our perpetually moving blur of a son (ages 1-3) to patiently instructing four 70/80 year olds on how to hold their aforementioned 4 year old Tasmanian Devil grandson last year, Michelle is a magician/artist...I always leave the photoshoot stressed from the chaos Hurricane Daniel (our son) leaves in his wake....But every year we come back to look at the proofs and are amazed at Michelle ability to capture "lighting in a bottle" . This year was no different. Fortunately we survived the terrible 2's (...3's....4's....) and thanks to time, maturity, and the opposite of gentle parenting, our little Daniel, though far from perfect, is manageable. But we didn't want to make it too easy for Michelle, so we threw in another variable. After a recent canine cancer scare, and recently learning from Google that all dogs, however loyal and cute, unfortunately have an inescapable life, span, I somehow convinced my beautiful but camera shy wife that this is the year we do a family photo with our dog. Some more backstory, if you read this far, our Yorkie, Libby, loves us but HATES the rest of the world. She spent the entire hour photoshoot in perpetual scowl and Volume 11 non stop bark. One week later as she always does, lighting in a bottle perfection. I looked at the proofs with amazement. Our son, we expected....she's done it every year, but how she made a loud perpetual yapping bark into a impossibly cute smile is above my skill set. But I think her greatest feat is how she lessened the "he must be rich" looks gap between my wife and I. My wife is easy, even me with my amateur Android skills, it's hard for her to take a bad picture. Michelle mastery came with how she elevated me to "he must be funny" looks gap level. So why the tear? We loved one of the pics so much we purchased a large framed canvas print to hang on our living room wall. My 85 year old happened to be in town for his grandsons 5th bday so I asked him for an helping hand hanging the picture. I figured he has these family portrait hanging at my childhood home. My brother and I with our full head of hair and my mom shoulder pads captured the 90's to a tee...but what I always remember is the "proud" look my dad had on his face. A look of accomplishment shouting "look at me world and all that I love and created". Watching my aging dad struggle, listing to my aging dog bark in a locked room to protect my dad's ankles, I was suddenly reminded that time, as much as you want to hit pause, always moves forward. It's a good idea to stop and smell the roses, or in this case, look at the snapshot/memories/moments and take it all in. After my dad handed me the leveler and I put away the hammer, and I looked up....and yeah....I had that "Dad" look

Jessica gave me plenty of photo sites for my daughter's pictures and advice prior to the quince. I chose to take pictures the day of the event but given the chaos on my end, maybe I should have booked the picture session in advance. Time gets ahead of you no matter how much you prepare. Also, your makeup and hair stays fresher the day of. So yeah. I should have done the photoshoot booking ahead of time. The day of the event, Jessica and company were on time and we're waiting on me. They were so patient with everyone taking pictures that day and she knew where to take the best picture. At the venue itself, she made sure I did not miss any pictures with guests and everyone loved the photo booth. He had us visualizing what our pictures would be like. We didn't even consider videography until we met him, and saw it wouldn't take us completely out of budget. He kept us reassured throughout the 1.5 year engagement, which at times was very hectic. Not to his fault, but I wish we could have had more settings in our pictures, but lack of time prevented it. Keep this in mind! The day of, he was timely and took his job seriously. As a non-photogenic couple, he had us pose and instructed our families for some of the best photos our family has ever taken. The only downfall was the issue of receiving the edited photos and the timeline was unclear. I am not sure how much time was spent editing all the photos. However, when we did receive them, we were satisfied. To our surprise, the video was a lot better than we expected. If he didn't spend a lot of time editing, you could tell a lot of time was spent on the video. It was almost an hour long! This review is about 1 year late but I wanted to share my experience…read more My daughter's 1st birthday had just passed and I wanted to get a cute photo shoot done to commemorate the milestone. My sister saw some of Karina's prior work from a friend who uses her services regularly to photograph her kids and recommended I look at her website. What really caught my eye with Karina's work was the cute themes in the pictures. It wasn't easy to find someone who did shoots like this so I contacted her and set up an appointment. Now this will probably be my only criticism but I will add a caveat to it--I did find at times that the communication with Karina was not always as prompt as I would have liked. There were times where it took her a few days to respond to my emails (which she told me was her preferred method of communication). But she did always respond eventually so that's what counts. The caveat is that at that time we were going back and forth with emails she was having construction done on her home which is also her studio so it made sense there were some delays. As for the quality of her work and the effort she puts into creating the right look--definitely superior. I told her I wanted a very girly theme and loved the attention to detail she put in making the backdrop just that. She even had super cute accessories we used for my daughter's shoot and the pictures came out so cute. Everybody always asks me who I used for them. She also is very good with babies. My daughter can be quite shy around strangers but Karina knew just what to do to get her to do what she needed for the differing poses she was looking to get. She even got her to laugh and smile...this was a baby whose aunt called her 'Mona Lisa' because it's a huge feat to get her to smile on command. Setting the shoot up, agreeing to a time, and sending her the deposit and final payment was easy. She sent my proofs to review and select the photos I wanted. She sends you only a few photos to choose from. My guess is she chooses the best shots and lets you choose from those. I was surprised I guess because I was expecting to see every shot but that probably helped to make the decision process of choosing the photos I wanted easier. Sometimes too much choice isn't productive. Overall I would totally recommend her. I have captured a precious moment in my daughter's life through Karina's vision and passion and will definitely look to use her again for future projects.
