The hotel is very conveniently located just across the square from the train station. I did not see…read moremuch else of Roosendaal but it is very easy to get to the hotel from the train station. The hotel is a bit old and has probably not been refurbished in the past 20 years or so. The room has a bit of tired feeling but it was clean. There was a desk with a decent work space and free wireless Internet (you have to get the access code from the reception) and the TV was probably the newest thing in the room. There was also a water kettle which I really appreciate - often it is nice to be able to make a cup of tea or coffee in the room. The bathroom was pretty small but still sufficient. There was room enough to fit a bath tub in there. A small mistake had probably occurred since the container with shower gel and shampoo had been put on the wrong wall (as far away from the shower as possible). It was no major problem as soap, shower gel and shampoo was also provided separately. The restaurant at the hotel was pretty decent. Nothing special but the service was consistently friendly. The same was true for everyone at the front desk as well. The breakfast was no really hit, it had the standard things but I would have wanted a bit more variety.

We got a text msg on our check in date from the hotel saying we can check in starting 2pm…read more We arrived at the hotel around 4:40pm, everything took forever - as if they were buying time (later we found out why-the rooms weren't ready). After we signed one of the forms they said that the rooms are not available, and will be ready only in 30 mins. We were amazed to hear an explanation that "the hotel was full the night before so the rooms aren't ready, there are 80 rooms". With all do respect, much bigger hotels handle cleaning rooms in time. Checkout is at 12, the hotel should hire enough maids to get the rooms ready in 2 hours. It's not the customer's problem and that's not an answer that should be given to a customer. The entire attitude was unapologetic and was "It is what it is". We explained we had passover dinner that night, and need to get ready fast (grab a bite to eat as the kids were starving) and then miraculously somehow after couple of mins they suddenly did find 2 rooms available (!!). We were about to head to the rooms when they suddenly remembered that the elevator wasn't working and that they should help us with the luggage. Helping with the luggage is all nice and good but my mom is 70 years old with back pains and can't go up and down 5 floors!! They said they called a repair person but we weren't going to take a chance of having my mom in a hotel for 4 nights with no elevator working. This is also dishonest that they didn't say it upfront (that there's a BIG problem, it's not like getting a room on the 5th floor with no elevator working is a small matter). Since they couldn't check us in (which they later resolved, again, miraculously) and no elevator working, that was too much and we asked to cancel and be refunded. The team wasn't willing to do anything besides offering us free drinks (c'mon, seriously?) and played a naive look of "we're doing whatever we can" as if they don't admit there's a problem and don't take any responsibility for it. Like zero customer service. We were very angry by the attitude and the customer service and left the hotel. We came back a day after while the elevator was working, yet no one reached out to us in order to resolve the problem the night before, they just ignored it. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!

The outdoor seating area is pleasant with well-trimmed hedges, fine, white tablecloths and pavilions, and rich, green grass. As you would expect, the food was artfully presented, and I particularly enjoyed the flavors in the lamb and scallops dishes. I would highly recommend Inter Scaldes for your fine-dining, Netherlands experience.

Top 1,000 places to visit before you die..well, according to some article a co-worker of mine read…read more I've never been to such a fancy resturant before, but hey there's a first for everything, right? To start off, you pull up to this resturant and the lady sprints out of the resturant and follows your car until you park just so she can open the door for you (quite funny actually). You walk in and it's the usual greetings and can I take your coat , but then they take you over to this little waiting area and serve you beer, wine or champagne...real champange, from France! Best bubbly I've had thus far! The resturant isn't that big, but with menu prices like theirs you don't need much service. Also, the menu seems small, but my oh my do they serve a great deal of courses....plate after plate (small portions, but don't worry you'll leave stuffed). The best dish of the night was a tie between the wagyu and the souffle ...not to say the other dishes weren't delicious because they most definitely were, but the wagyu and souffle were hands down one of the best things I've ever tasted. The overall ambiance of the resturant is what gives it five stars for me. The waiting staff dressed in matching outfits with matching haircuts/styles, whenever you got up someone was waiting behind you to pull out your seat, constant flow of beverages (never an empty glass), a cheese course to "cleanse your palate"...I mean they even went as far as to get me a chair for my purse! A wooden stool nonetheless, but still! Overall great experience and I'm glad we went :) P.S. Pictures to follow!
