While the Grote Markt is completely dead on Saturday night for some reason, it sure is poppin' on Sunday night, so I was glad when my friends and I decided to give Sint-Truiden another go:
Star 1: How was the service and atmosphere?
Fantastic. Outdoor seating on a beautiful evening combined with a brilliantly friendly waiter who was quick and helpful. Amazing atmosphere. Star Granted.
Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost?
Devoid of my coveted Schnitzel options, I've really been on a pasta kick while living in Belgium, and while the wide selection of mussels at De Klok was tempting, I opted to go for the Spaghetti Carbonara for €12. All in all, great choice:

Star Granted.
Stars 3 and 4: How was the food?
It's hard to mess up spaghetti carbonara, but it's also really hard to nail it. That having been said, this was brilliant. Great big lean pieces of ham, creamy white sauce, and perfectly cooked pasta. Additionally, the buckets of mussels that those in my party got were amazing, and all in all this was a fantastic evening. Dual Stars Granted.
Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could?
This is tough. While I truly loved my experience at De Klok, I soon after realized that it's not really that unique in that the Sint-Truiden Grote Markt is stacked on great options. That being said, I reluctantly can't say I'd come here daily if I lived in Sint-Truiden permanently. No Star Granted. read more
