You'll find a simple looking, inelegant, restaurant that you would probably just walk past if unaware of its celebrated kitchen. Indoors is equally unimpressive, with the kitchen the first thing you'll notice as you wait to be seated. The food is the real reason why you'll come here - unsophisticated, big portions of food that will satisfy the hungriest of visitors. We had mussels, as you should on a fist visit, and were thoroughly delighted. The fries are not exceptional, but with that amount of mussels you may not even need more than a handful of fries. Open everyday until late, I would definitely recommend Kombuis to anyone who is in Oostende. Mussels, fries and a drink will cost you around 25€.

We had the "regular" grilled steak and boy, was it good! At 25EUR not cheap, but it was a big one. Paying extra for potato sides isn't usual either, but it didn't bother us. The steak was very tender and very tasteful. Rochefort sauce was awesome. And the housewine (red) was to die for! Oh, don't forget to order a plate of ham as apetizer. The small one is big enough for two and oh so good. Service is high average. I understand personal is not in it's top game on a Sunday at 21h. Interior feels small, but cosy. Nice atmosphere. I also expected that they would have a big fish market inside, but they had limited selection. It's a very nice place to visit.
