The last lawyer I went to charged an obscene amount of money to set up a trust when all we really needed was a VERY SIMPLE WILL!!! She didn't tell hubby and I about trusts, didn't tell us what it meant or how to use it... she didn't tell us anything. She just took our money, drew up a trust and said that's it. Neither my husband nor I remember anything being notarized or anything - just a, "We'll take care of that part later." I was able to apply what I learned and use that knowledge in my case. I was able to take what I learned and apply it by myself. If needing an attorney you're better off with another law firm or representing yourself. This was more of a waste of time and money than anything else. Don't be afraid to pursue what you want in the courts even if it sounds beyond reach. I was able to represent myself after time and get what I wanted. Took guts and a lot of determination to say I can do it better and on my own.
