Thankfully, Rainarai is exactly as I remembered it. The service was kind & friendly, the chicken plate I ordered was heaped with all kinds of delicious veggies, flavorful chicken & couscous. At 24 euros, the plates are a little pricey, but they are generously portioned. The dining area is small, but serviceable and homey. I enjoyed coming back here so much, and my friend did too. I've walked by this place 1000's of times since it's at the end of the block of my Amsterdam apartment. Since the pandemic, it has been closed to indoor dining more than it has been open. I regret not popping in there for dinner when I had the chance. It's a vast space for Amsterdam. The front door is blocked with a table, candles and menus. Technically masks are not required outside, so if you're inclined to go maskless, this is more convenient. It's a very busy sidewalk during the day, but at night, not so bad. My friends were very satisfied with it too. They are smaller portions (by the sight) but they fill you up in a hurry! It was superlekker. I was staying at Hotel Not Hotel for a few nights when we figured we would grab a quick breakfast before exploring the city some more. The seating here can be shared with the hotel lobby so you'll always be able to find a place to sit, and all you have to do to order is ring the bell and an employee will come help you right away. Since it was pretty early and I wasn't starving I just ordered a croissant and it was brought out to me very quickly. This wasn't the first croissant I've eaten on this trip but it certainly did taste the best, being fluffy but having a nice crisp shell around it. Overall, Kevin Bacon Bar is not only hilarious because of its name, but it's also a pretty nice place to just hang out. I can definitely see myself back here in future for that famous pad Thai.

They were very friendly and helpful. They don't fool around with the spices. This is like an Indonesian mama's cooking. Some dishes were quite spicy, which is the authentic way. There is a tiny table if you want to sit there and eat, but it's really a take out place. When I came around 5:30 pm, there was a line out the door with the local after-work crowd. I can see why: solid Indonesian food at great prices.
