Best bar in chapel hill by far!! Everyone who comes in is so kind and the vibes are great. Perfect place to come for a cocktail/beer and listen to music or catch up with friends :) Also the bartenders/food staff are lovely and just what you would expect of a small town bar!

Fun place to catch a drink and watch a game. Bartender was nice. A good time all around. We ordered some apps for the table and pretty good.

Since I was staying at The Franklin Hotel next door, I couldn't help but mosey on over to this little establishment that is tucked away. You might mistake it for someone's house if you didn't know what you were looking for. It was a rainy night before my graduation and I was in need of a celebratory drink with my wife! We stopped in, had a few, played Operation, chatted with the friendly bartender, and had a chill time. We learned that drinking establishments in Chapel Hill (and I'm guessing the whole state) must be classified as a club so we were asked to put our names on a sign-in sheet. Weird. Either way, the bar was quaint, intimate, there's awesome wall decor, and there were board games to pass the time. The bartender had mentioned that it's not really where the young college students go, but older (more refined) folks. Great place for a drink as you hobble along Franklin St.!

Sunday Brunch at the Dead Mule is really good. Poached eggs to perfection, a real biscuits and gravy, all looked and tasted like the best fine dining restaurants. But it's not a stuffy fine dining restaurant it's a cool bar right in the middle of Chapel Hill. There so much love and history in the bar, and despite the chain restaurants and apartment building that have sprung up around it, it's retained it's home town character. The bar and wait staff are friendly and laid back but very professional and efficient. This little house bar in the middle of Chapel Hill is a treasure, I knew that, but it's a pretty good restaurant sometimes, too. I definitely recommend the Sunday brunch.

This is one of my favorite bars in Chapel Hill. The bar staff is amazing and all of their cocktails are great. My group got Moscow Mules and a few of the blood Orange ciders on draft. Definitely recommend for anyone who wants to get away from the college bar lines.

Oh wow. What a fantastic atmosphere. This place is a winner. Wonderful staff. Friendly locals here. We will definitely be back. We ate their pork & collard egg rolls, a Bbq chicken burger and the most delicious home-made Madelyn's peach cobbler. Great food. Well priced. Drinks well priced. Nice deck to sit out front plus parking what a bonus.

Cute, cozy and great drinks. Was in town visiting and was happy to find this place! Went during the day and it was quiet which was perfect.

Very friendly atmosphere and friendly employees. Food was pretty good too. Had a pulled pork sandwich that was delicious. Reasonable prices.

The place is pretty tucked away and didn't know it existed until I was invited. First thoughts were uh this is a bit shady walking up stairs and the building itself was not super well kept (not their fault). The bathroom looks so outdated and wasn't super comfortable that the bathroom is a shared one (two stalls, a urinal and it's just open to all) so wouldn't feel comfortable drinking alcohol and then possibly being alone in a bathroom where men are peeing right next to me. That's just my opinion and comfort. Regardless the place was cute- the bar had a lot of options for tap, they had MEAD! Extremely exciting as I LOVE Starrlight mead. The music was kinda all over the place from like 70s music and then the next was like a Fern Gully song -would just stick to one genre. The employees were also pretty nice (they ?Meredith? helped me over the phone as well). Notes: DO NOT PARK IN THE GRAVEL PARKING LOT- it's not theirs They seem to automatically tip, not sure how much, I wasn't given a receipt and didn't have the price of my drink so I can't deduct from my charge. They seem to have a pretty big card charge as well so maybe cash is better? They have a ton of events so check when you want to go during the week! I've added a photo.

Also the bathroom was disgusting and I threw all my clothes in the wash. It's near the college which I guess explains the sounds coming out of the speakers. Actually they were more like a series of constant screams accompanied by the unplugging and re-plugging in of instruments. Major cons: *limited parking *pee * about 10 tables * no one asked me about board games or cared. Pro: that brief period when the music stopped. Thankfully there were plenty of edgy hairstyles Do places like this care about money or is it just a front for the magic the gathering store?

I loved the music-themed menu concept, it fits the atmosphere so well. It is a little dark and moody. I ordered the Punk Rock Riot (a vodka drink), and my partner got a whiskey drink. Both were excellent. The Friday night vibes were great, and we had a fantastic time sitting at the bar and soaking it all in. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was welcoming, and it felt like a place where you could easily spend a few hours enjoying good drinks, music, and company. As a bonus, I found out they sell cake too! I didn't try it this time, but it's definitely on my list for the next visit. A patron recommended the strawberry cake. If you're looking for classic or unique craft cocktails, look no further. Atlas Bar rotates their menu seasonally (and then some). I've had summer cocktails, tea inspired cocktails, and recently fall (or Thanksgiving) themed cocktails. There are sweet and not so sweet and even savory choices. Don't be scared away from the more unique cocktails such as the "hot chicken"or the "cornbread." The cornbread cocktail was honey-butter fat-washed mellowcorn, nixta corn liqueur, honey-nixta foam and a quick favorite. The decor is funky and classy at the same time. The bartenders are chill and nice. You can park behind the building or in the lot next to Armadillo Grill (not Carr Mill Mall!). You can order small bites from ACME and all options are delicious.
