My 5 year old did great but I imagine younger than 4 would have a hard time and even wearing a kid in a carrier would be difficult. If you can't do a cave tour at any of the other spots nearby, this is a great alternative! Or if you have kids that want to do the other activities the park has to offer, this would be a great option while you wait for them.

I found one after we had gone that would have given us a free pony ride with the purchase of a children's entry. BUT save your receipt as you can enter again within three days. The farm itself is very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. Our kiddos LOVED this place! You do pay extra for feed, pony rides (four/five laps around the arena) , or train rides. The pig race was fun to watch. They even encourage kids to guess which will win. Our kids loved watching and cheering for their pick to win. We spent some time around the playground as well. They had covered shelters around the playground so you can supervise your kids in the shade. There are restrooms on the grounds as well as in the gift shop. We didn't use the ones on the grounds, but the ones in the soft shop were very clean. We would visit again! All the animals were super friendly as well. (LOTS OF CUTE BABIES!) You can tell the staff cares and works hard to keep things clean.

I am from North Dakota, so this isn't too far from home for me, but even if I lived across the country I would make a trip here at least once a year! Plus, how can you resist free range baby goats and sheep? The absolute best, and an instant mood lifter. We took our daughter, who is 18 months old, and it was the perfect first family trip we could have taken. It's fun for both children of all ages and adults! The price is even reasonable at roughly $19 per person and you can even buy a cup with feed for the animals at only $6. If you don't want to buy a cup for $6 they also have multiple feed dispensers that are 25¢ for a small handful. Once you walk out the door you are immersed into a whole farm experience. There are multiple animals that roam free -- such as chickens, goats, sheep, and even turkeys! You can feed them and even pet them (which I think is the best part) They have bathrooms available for people to use if needed, even pavilions for you to have a picnic. Most of the animals are in pens (excluding the few free-roaming ones) and some of the pens you can even go in and really get the whole petting zoo experience by being with the animals. They have pig races, baby goats with their mamas, and even baby bottle-fed cows, as well as baby chicks you can pet! The day I went the alpine slide and chairlift were "closed" but since they promised they would refund that portion of it wasn't up and running by the end of the day I went ahead and purchased the Ultimate Pass. After 4 hours in the park we were ready to leave and slide and chairlift were still closed. Went back for refund only to find sales person was gone and current "manager" would not honor what they were saying earlier. I was staying across the street from this location and noticed after they had closed at 6pm, conveniently the chairlift started moving as employees sat at the bottom hanging out. We only wanted to do the slide and climbing attractions which would have been $70 but like I said we purchased the Ultimate pass for $90. We did have a good time and it was a vacation so I'm not gonna complain too much. The staff here at each attraction was really the only reason I'm adding an extra star. What is that, say you? And why should you go? Well, I am happy to tell you! Sturgis is the world's largest rally of motorcycle riders. It takes place annually in Sturgis, South Dakota, near the Black Hills. This now 10-day event started back in 1938. At that time, it was a place for motorcycle enthusiasts to come and do stunts and races. But it's much more than that now. Sturgis is like a counter-cultural rallying cry for the maverick, the one who likes to go his or her own way, and if at all possible, on a motorcycle! Now, you do not have to have a motorcycle (nor drive one) to enjoy Sturgis. I did enjoy Sturgis last summer without one in my brief visit to the town during its annual convergence of riders as I was traveling cross-country. You just need to appreciate the sights and sounds of the magnificent machine--as well as, the sights and sounds of many folks who have never quite managed to color "between the lines," but who love a good time, good company, and their country. American Patriotism is in full and florid display at the rally. Motorcyclist veterans will be well-treated here. If you do ride, you could hardly ride better anywhere than at Sturgis (with your bike, or renting one). Some of the best motorcycle rides in the world are in the Black Hills: Needles Highway, Iron Mountain Road, Spearfish Canyon, not to mention, Mount Rushmore, the Crazy Horse Memorial, Bear Mountain (Devil's Tower), Bear Butte Park (with breathtaking geological formations), the Badlands (stunning park of natural rock formations), Custer Park (where you are almost guaranteed to see bison), and more. Winding, beautiful, clear roads with fresh mountain air. You can't ask for more than that. And yet, you get more than that! (More on that below). Sturgis is now a national phenomenon. 500,000 people attended last year! Those are post-pandemic numbers. (As many as roughly 700,000 people attended the annual rally in prior years, particularly at its 75th anniversary). In the words of the CEO last year, this event is about "music, motorcycles, freedom, and friends." The rally features concerts of all kinds of music--rock, rap, and country. And big names! Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr., aka, Snoop Dogg (yes, "gin and juice" himself) performed at the rally last year. He was joined by legendary American rock band, Buckcherry, classic rock band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bush (British grunge rock band), Rob Zombie, Lita Ford, country music star, Travis Tritt, Aaron Lewis and the Stateliners, Pop Evil, and Puddle of Mud. All at the same rally, guys. Yes, that's what I'm talking about. And that is in the midst of hundreds of other events you will find nowhere else (such as a literal wall of fire and beer-smashing with homemade battering rams mounted on a bike with a motorized coach--yeah, that happened!), a really cool, legitimate motorcycle museum in the middle of town, unique street vendors of everything from trendy t-shirts to Harley-Davidsons, and fabulous fairgrounds-style food of all kinds. (Can you say, "giant Turkey leg?" YUM). All in the midst of raucous behavior, anthropological attire (full leather ensembles, spurs, "homemade bikinis," a few topless women, and a couple of nearly bottomless ones, not to be overlooked). And of course, the constant hum of the rides. Motorcycle rides, that is. I am a person who usually does not like the sound of a motorcycle, but in Sturgis, in unison with others, in the open South Dakota air, it all starts to blend into the background. And eventually becomes soothing. It sounds like...well, freedom. Despite the fact that you find yourself in the midst of what looks like a massive motorcycle gang, the people are generally polite and respectful. South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem even did a charity ride at Sturgis last summer. Sturgis occurs each year for approximately 10 days starting the first week of August. This coming year it will be from August 4-13, 2023. Get registered, get your tickets for events, and your accommodations for the area, (they book fast). Life is short. Live a little!

Hotdogs $20 plus more for condiments. Talk about making money off a captive audience. I suggest you bring a water bottle and big purse full of snacks because eating here will bust your budget.

Sturgis motorcycle 2022 tees or Sturgis old Camaro's 2022.... Plenty of ball caps and many other things to catch your eye..... The lady at the check stand was friendly & courteous.... We bought our tee shirts and hats and we're on our way... No problem with parking this time of the year....
