We think Media is a great town! Deals has some original content especially for children! Their tools are made of metal and wood, which is so much better than plastic for children! We went in to copy a key for $1.99 and then bought some seeds for the start of our garden. We purchased organic radish seeds, green bell peppers, red Roman tomatoes, and a carrots! We had a wonderful experience and didn't spend too much money! Service was excellent and the store is clean and organized. No debit or credit card use unless you spend $5 or more. They are handicapped accessible but parking is a problem. If you live in the neighborhood it is much better to walk or jogging around! read more

"This must've originally been a Woolworth's," I said to my daughter. And I was right! Debatable as to when it dates back. One gentleman said the 1920s, with a cashier commenting about the behemoth furnace dated 1911, which long since stopped working. Fast forward to the 21st century, and the store is still stocked with five-and-ten items, surprisingly reasonably priced. (We bought an LED flashlight, cocktail napkins and thread.) Media is a lovely town with a number of cute non-chain restaurants and artsy stores. Deals Variety adds to the charm. read more

Deals is an old country store located in a city. It's stocked with items that are hard to find elsewhere. It's my go to store.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Me and my friend s walked into to this store wanting to buy some gum. We instantly felt judged as the lady running the store was giving us a look. We looked pasted it and decided to keep shopping. My friend picked out a toy that he thought was funny and wanted to show me. It came to an abrupt stop when the lady working there called out my friend for shoplifting. We were very caught off guard as we did not think that anyone would do this, we were just shopping in a store and got accused of a serious crime. The friend was African American and wasn't even trying to shoplift. Everyone had something in their hand and she decided to only call out him for it. Me and my friend instantly stood up for him because this accusation was absolutely unacceptable, she then said that we had to all leave the store for sticking up for our African American friend. I've been to deals many many times and never thought that this would happen. I'm never going to this store again and I am gravely disappointed in this customer service. read more

Today's experience deserves zero stars but I'll give it two since it's my first bad experience ever at Deals in more than 20 years. I used to love Deals, it's in my home town and since it's a small locally owned business I went out of my way to buy a padded envelope for something my elderly mother wanted to mail. I got there at opening time, and I wasn't fussed when the doors weren't yet open at 9:00 a.m. I found what I needed right away and took it to the register. The woman working there (Blonde-ish hair, 40s-60s, hard to tell with her pink floral mask on) ignored me and swept the floor for at least another 5 minutes while I waited at the register. I finally asked her if she'd ring me up and got a "I'll be there in a minute." When she did arrive at the register she acted like my dollar bill had COVID-19 and the transaction wasn't worth giving up her floor sweeping. When she didn't immediately hand me a shopping bag I asked for one and said I was headed down to the other Deals location so I needed a bag. She rudely responded "they don't sell them." Huh? They don't sell what? I explained I didn't want to be accused of shoplifting so I needed a bag. She said "They don't sell them" again, and rudely explained they other location doesn't sell envelopes. I then said "What's the matter with you, you're being miserable" to which she replied with a mocking "AWWWWWWWW!" What is the matter with this woman, why is she still working at Deals and why would I want to do business there? I'm not sure I'll ever return. read more

Yes, not to be confused with the Deals Stationary Store, but this one carries just about everything. Dry goods, electrical supplies, candies, auto, convenience, gardening, pet, in short, you name it. You need to devote a few hours to peruse through the crowded aisles and get a feeling for a slice of Americana that is gone by in small towns, by-and-large. Trolley accessible, no less. This place is probably the worst business in Media. Everyone that works there is incredibly rude, especially the older woman at the register. How can you have a limit for debit card transaction. No one carries cash anymore. Then I get a rude huff and puff because I asked cancel my purchase because i didn't have cash. You just lost my business. Deals is like an old fashioned five-and-dime store. It's so cute and has pretty much anything you could ever need (need tiny loaf pans? They have them!). Stop here around the holidays for all your gift wrapping needs. Closer to the holidays will have less of a selection, but a better bargain. They also have an awesome array of Melissa and Doug toys, which was surprising but perfect for me since my niece loves that stuff. read more

An old-fashined five 'n dime style "everything" store - stationary, household goods, kid stuff, party goods, wrapping paper, tools, socks. A vast variety that is as close as Media, PA gets to the "Vermont COuntry Store". A note of nostalgia and fun shopping here and a sweet lady at the cashier in the evening time on weekdays. Really like this place and want to support local, but unfortunately the hygiene of one of the staff members really put me off. Went up to the register and the cashier was finishing up eating her meal and proceeded to lick her fingers then reached out for my card. When I said no she picked up the card with the other hand and then handled my products and my card with the licked hand anyway. Regardless of a pandemic that is completely unacceptable. Will not be returning as if this is acceptable behavior for this instance who knows how hygienic the stray of the store is. read more

I was in deals with some friends just looking around for something to buy. This worker with dark colored hair kind of short said we had to leave. Keep in mind that we're were 12. We did not do anything wrong. She said we were "running." I have never seen service this bad. I would never ever recommend this store to anyone. read more

I enjoy going to Deals because it brings me back to what a neighborhood store should be. It's fun to peruse isle by isle and find things you didn't think you needed, but is also great for the things you do i.e. hardware, keys, quick costume. I do like this store and the wide variety of different themed items that can be found there. The reason I give it only 2 stars is because of 2 very bad customers service experienced I have had there. Once I stopped in about 7 minutes before they were scheduled to close and the women worker that was near the door literally said to me and I quote" I don't understand why people wait until close time to shop in stores. She looked so aggravated that I was entering the store. I asked her if she would like me to take my business elsewhere and she literally ignored me. I really needed to buy a bottle of glue so I did not leave, I should have. When I got to the register I made sure to ask her what time it was, so she would realize they had 5 minutes until close. She did not even thank me, she just handed me my receipt and turned away headed back to the door. Today I called there to ask if they sold an item so I could try to avoid the 15 minute drive to the store. A women answered and her response was, we might, you can come in and look. I explained to her that I was calling so I could avoid the drive in case they did not have it. Then she said to me, "Ok then I'm going to say no we do not have it. I decided to go to another store and found my item. I hate when stores have miserable service like that.
