I've really gotten into stationary goods lately and am always on the lookout for fun stationary stores. Omoi was close to where we were coming to / heading to, so I bookmarked it and we managed to stop by before they closed. It was actually really poppin when we got there, despite the fact that it was about 30 minutes to closing time. I wasn't really on the market for anything, just wanted to browse. I ended up picking up some cute notepads for a friend and some washi tape for myself. I love that they sold matchbooks here! I am an avid matchbook collector, despite not smoking a day in my life. Honestly, I found this store to be "eh". I was in the neighborhood and wanted to find a cute stationary store. TikTok suggested Omoi Life Goods but I was pretty disappointed. They did have some stationary like cards, stickers, washi tape, journals, and more but everything was very expensive. There wasn't a large range of any of those items I mentioned, just a handful of journals, maybe five stickers, etc. The store also sold some home goods, purses, and other gift items but nothing that made me say "wow". Overall, the selection was very expensive. I felt let down by the recommendation of this store and won't be back. read more

Located in Old City, Omoi Goods is an exceptional shop for not only stationary supplies like inks, stamps, journals, and pens, but also beautiful greeting cards, BAGGUs, stickers!!, and more! The employees were soooooo lovely and polite when I went and I must highlight that they created their own totally free (!!) pamphlet guide to Philly!! What a cute little shop in Old City!! I love walking around and looking at everything it gives me seratonin hahaha. This is a great shop for gifts for anyone that likes to journal, write letters, craft, organize, and more! Or buy gifts for yourself. There is a small premium on some of the items but it is worth it to buy because it's hard to get these items elsewhere! Staff are super friendly and helpful. What a cute shop! I love visiting stationery shops when I travel. Omoi is unique in that it's a Traveler's Company Official Partner Shop (see photo of stamp)! True to that designation, they are well stocked with Traveler's gear. They're also pretty well-stocked with Plotter, which is something that I don't see too often at stationery shops. Weirdly enough, they also have 35mm film and ROKR sets, which I absolutely love! They have a lot of other home goods stuff too, books, fountain pens, and a small selection of inks. Pretty well stocked! I asked one of the people working there for gift suggestions and she showed me some things around the shop I would not have otherwise noticed. We also chatted a bit about Stationery Store Day, which is coming up, and some other things as well. Very friendly. I ended up dropping a bit more money here than I anticipated because of all of the other unique things this shop has to offer. Defintitely worth a visit! read more

Cutest stationery store in PHL. There was so much to love. I spent too much on such little things - so it goes! The *real* bread lamps (baguettes, croissants!) are amazing. Omoi fills the Kinukuniya shaped hole in my heart after moving to Philly. Small but solid selection of stationary, notebooks, pens, and small goods. I have to restrict how often I come here because it is impossible for me to leave empty handed. I do wish they had a larger selection of affordable pens but that's my only qualm. read more

I have had this shop on my 'want to go' list for FOREVER. If you are a stationery lover (or should I say addicted?), you definitely need to come here. I spent $60 here. Oops. To be fair, when the hell am I going to come back to Philly in the future? I don't know but I went ham. Got a notebook, stickers, and incense. The notebook and incense were the priciest and might actually be overpriced because the notebook I got was $25 and online at another store was $14. Scammed :( I guess I'll take it as supporting a local shop in this inflated expensive world that we rent in LOL. What I was also really excited about is that they have a special stamp that you can stamp into your notebook so I'm happy I got to do that! Also, I did in the past order notebooks from them and have it shipped to my home in NY before. It was fast shipping too. Not sure if they still do that but FYI. read more

I love little shops like this one. Highly curated, high quality goods, adorable little things that you didn't know you needed. I definitely picked up some holiday gifts for friends and fam here (of which I cannot reveal before the holidays). I will say, I picked up a couple of things for myself as well, cause I couldn't help myself. One: I picked up this little glass pitcher whose shape I just fell in love with. I've been using it recently as I practice making tamagoyaki. I use it for the eggs and it's working perfectly. So this pitcher was on the shelf and it looked to be a display model, and I asked one of the workers there if she had one in a box. And she said, that that was the last one but she believed she had the box for it. She went downstairs, upstairs, looked high and low for the box and could not find it. I assured her that it was ok as I wasn't getting on a plane or anything. I had driven to Philly from D.C., so just wrapping it in some paper would be great. She ended up putting it in an adorable gift box wrapped in paper. But just the lengths she went to to try and find the original box for the pitcher... I mean. You could tell she really cared about customer service. Also, I was at the register and looked over and saw these little miniature Japanese furniture boxes. The cashier told me all about the company, the designer, and what they were all about. Again, I couldn't help myself, and ended up buying a few. I opened my first one after decorating my home for the holiday a bit, and it's this adorable little black modern style chair. It's completely plastic, but it's like... imagine modern doll furniture. And you're like... Mike B.... why in G-d's green earth would you want or need that. Don't worry, I got plans ;). Solid place to pick up little unique gifts. I'm not one who's into stationary, but if you are, this is totally your spot too. The store is not HUGE, but I went around a few times honestly because they pack SO much into that smaller space, and you surely miss something on your first browse. read more

I adore Omoi Zakka! They have a wonderful selection of greeting cards that changes every month or two. If I see one I like, I buy it so I don't lose the opportunity! They also carry a lot of great pins for your bags and jackets. If you like stationary, this is the place for you! They have a wide array of stationary and writing utensils from Japan. They also carry calendars, journals, stickers, and day planners. Their Japanese teaware collection is lovely, as are their jewelry, sunglasses, and bags. They carry Baggu bags. Love! This is their Old City location, which is right on 3rd Street. The original Omoi Zakka (which I have yet to visit) is still in Rittenhouse. read more

I'm so mad my boyfriend took me here! Surprise--it's a fantastic stationery shop! All I wanted was to shop and buy it all. It's located on a street adjacent to the museums in Philly and by cozy restaurants to check out or stroll by on a late summer walk. The Asian products here were so fun and quirky. I loved seeing all sorts of washi tape and cool prints, fine pens and fun stickers. I was very intrigued by a croissant lamp, some recycled backpacks and the Studio Ghibli book I found! Really cool and eclectic pieces for those who like cuter but functional everyday stationery and decor. The place is well lit and the staff kind, so many customers milling about. 10/10 will return for more to add to my collection! read more

Quickly becoming one of my favorite Old City shops for gifts that are not Philly-themed. They have a selection of beautiful gifts for yourself or someone else, including jewelry, watches, sunglasses, kitchen gadgets, fountain pens and ink, paper products, reusable shopping bags (and other Baggu products), books and other random things. There's definitely a Japanese aesthetic to some of their products but also an emphasis on simple style and sustainability. The selection changes pretty quickly so go often! read more

This is such a great place to buy gifts, books, pens and jewelry items. The staff is very welcoming and warm, the store is beautiful with plenty of items to choose from, which is a gold mine for me! This tiny little specialty shop is perfect if you are a mad fiend for stationary. If you are like me and you like to look and touch or test a specific pen on paper, you might be disappointed because they don't have that many samples you can test out a pen on - I think that's the only difference I found between this shop and other high end stationary stores. My favorite shop in Philly to visit. I come every time I'm in the city and always find something to bring home with me. There are plenty of writing accessories, planners, journals, calendars, prints, greeting cards to fill your heart's desire. On top of that, you'll find the most thoughtful desk items - a cat phone stand, paper clips, trays, rulers, etc. Everything is so nicely curated from Japan and they have quite a few rare items such as magazines/books that catch your eye! In the back of the shop, there's a lot of kitchenware items that I wish I could keep in my house! You'll definitely have fun browsing through! Omoi Zakka has a lot of "sleek cool but totally unnecessary stuff" Those paper clips that are 20x the price of regular paper clips? They're in the shape of a DOG. Stuff like that. However, the quality of the items are pretty good. I really like the look and feel of many of their mugs. It's not a place you would go to daily unless if you're mr/ms. moneybags but it's a good place to get a gift especially for someone with a office job. read more

I absolutely love Omoi Zakka - this is my go-to spot when I want to get something cute and memorable as a gift for someone. They sell a wide range of products that are mostly imported from Japan / have a Japanese influenced aesthetic. It's a stationary store that has great Japanese branded journals, notebooks, stickers, washi tape, calendars, and more, and then on top of that they sell keychains, stuffed animals, bags, jewelry, fragrances, body products, house goods, and the list truly goes on and on. The store associates are always friendly, and the store smells so, so good. It's such a cozy store as well. I will say it's not going to be the cheapest store, but it's well worth it. The products they carry are high quality and really unique - there truly isn't a gift store like this one in the city. For local Philadelphians, they have an online store where if you buy something there, you have the option to pick it up in store. They also have an Old City location that is bigger than the Rittenhouse one, but they carry more or less the same merchandise. You gotta come in here! Their card selection is unique and way better than a drug store card. Honestly, treat yourself too - even just window shopping picks my mood up when I stop by. read more

I really enjoyed the back room with more small homegoods, books, etc. Between soaps, teas and incense, it smelled amazing. I picked out a greeting card and went up to the counter to find a box of cards that were the last of their kind all for $1! I'm not sure how it happened. We always wanted the kids to be a little more cultured, when it comes to their entertainment choices. We subjected them to PBS over the Disney channel , WXPN over top 40 pop hitand Harry Potter over teen magazines. When it came to movies, we had all the Disney flicks like everybody else, but we wanted to also expose them to the wonderful stories and animation of Hayao Miyazaki. Films like " My Neighbor Totoro" and " Kikis Delivery Service" were staples in our house. On her 5th Halloween, my daughter Sarah wanted to be the delivery witch, Kiki. My wife did a fantastic job on the costume, however the character wasn't exactly a household name and many people asked who she was and nodded in fake recognition when we told them. This love of Japanime has stayed with Sarah ever since and at 12 , she is the household expert. From drawing and reading Manga to eating macaroni with chopsticks, she is hooked on the entire culture. When the Japanese festival came to philly, our presence was required. It was a cool event, and both children spent the majority of their time at the Omoi booth. They were both itching to spend their dough on the cool Japanese baubles, but it was hard to decide on one thing. When I found out that they ran a shop in Philly, I promised Sarah I would take her there for another look. This week, I made good on the promise. We made a special trip into the city to see the Omoi mothership. It was a small but charming little shop, just enough room for our party of 4 to maneuver. Sarah was thrilled and loved looking at all the Japanese lunchboxes and toys. The owner was friendly and accommodating , often apologizing for the clutter, explaining that they were cleaning and reorganizing. I think I speak for all of us, that it only added to its charm. When all was said and done, we all found something that caught our eye and needed to come home with us. The most disturbing to me was a book of Japanese culture and ettiquette which Sarah had to have, as she plans on visiting the land of the rising sun, in the near future. I'm not sure I'm ready for that yet so its good to know that I can give her a taste of Japan, on Pine St in Philly. Thanks Omoi. read more

I ran into this shop by chance on a sunny day and absolutely loved it. Everything is tasty, or original, and it is the perfect place to find a gift for friends or more selfishly for you (hé why not treat yourself). I found the cutest 2014 diary, of Japanese inspiration. Many things in the store have a Japanese touch, but it is not the only focus of the store. There is a large choice of stationery, little notebooks, diary, etc. and also tons of little cute or funny objects of all types. There are some scarves, hats as well, that seemed to be of a very nice fabric, both soft and beautiful, I almost bought one. Also some nice jewelry. Unique merchandise to browse through but after seeing an Instagram story where they mentioned a customer visibly and audibly price checking items on Amazon... it just didn't sit right with me. I am all for supporting small businesses and I understand their reasoning for doing it but to blast a customer (even though anonymous) this way felt wrong? What I thought was an isolated incident is sadly apparently the norm. I wasn't going to write this interview at first but after reading some of the other reviews calling out racist and rude behaviour, it's evident that there needs to be a warning to consumers. When my partner (Black) and I (East Asian) visited this store, the white woman with green dyed hair working the cashier racially profiled us and followed us with her unwelcome gaze the entire time we were shopping. I didn't notice at first because I was happily browsing but when my partner pointed it out, it was so obvious that she was leaving all of the customers alone except for us. The worst part was, it was clear we were targeted because my partner is Black--another customer group of East Asian women was no cause for alarm, yet we were scrutinized. When I asked her questions for help, her tone was also extremely rude and off-putting. My biggest regret was buying anything at all because a business like this does not deserve my hard-earned money. Such a shame because I specifically came out of my way to visit this shop when I was visiting from out of town. It's freaking 2022--do better!!! read more

They sold really cool Japanese things like Bento boxes, plastic shopping bags that folded up, and other things. I bought the Vanilla rose Cocoa, which was $10 for 3.5 oz - I thought it would be this wonderful cocoa from the high price and the fact that it was 100% organic. I don't know if it's just me but I've made the drink twice and it tastes really watered down, even though I followed the directions. I don't taste a lot of of cocoa - just this floral taste that might as well be tea and leaves a chalky aftertaste. I give the place 3 stars - the products are cute, the cocoa just isn't that great. Might just be me though - maybe it's supposed to just taste like flowery tea. Try for yourself. read more
