It also has a very busy pharmacy that serves a lot of the local community. The staff are helpful and informative, but pre-ordering a prescription seems at some points to be a lottery, as to whether it will be ready or not, which kind of defeats the purpose.

Wide aisles make browsing a painless process and this store has an impressive range of items. All the usual staples are here: common medicines, bathroom items, cosmetics, dental items and good range of perfumes/aftershaves. For my services which are not teeth related, I use the multiple places in Boots. Boots (as you will already know) is a chain pharmacy and beauty store - available in train stations, city centres and most places where you may need to grab a pack of paracetamol or some plasters. This boots, however, offers a whole host of other services you may need for a range of health needs. Upstairs are your beauty counters, hygiene products and gifts (the discount on gifts after christmas is particularly good - offering 50% - 70% off), but on the lower floor are it's other services. If you pop on the escalators and head downstairs you'll find an optician, an NHS walk-in, a doctors surgery, Birmingham Uni dentists and a sexual health clinic. With the doctors surgery and dentist, you will need an appointment. The optician will see walk-ins (depending on how busy they are) and the sexual health clinic and NHS centre are totally walk-in led. This, obviously, can lead to long waiting times - but if you desperately need a doctor and can't get an appointment at your local clinic, this place is a lifesaver (probably quite literally). As well as the various medical services I have mentioned, Boots offers a "stop smoking" clinic and other health led initiatives. When I first moved into Birmingham City Centre I had no idea where my local health services would be (I was dreading having to catch a bus out of town), so for all of those who work or live in the City - this place is your one stop shop for when you're feeling off or need some supplies.

There's also the more seasonal items. Currently there are sunglasses and lotions located towards the back of the store. It's never been overly busy when i've been there even at 5pm on a weekday which is perfect if you want to spend a bit more time browsing. The meal deal is a good price (£3.49 at last check) and it includes a sandwich/wrap, a drink and a snack (up to the value of £1.25 so go for the larger ones!). The service is always quick as there's never really a queue which is great if you're in a rush.

There is a much larger Boots store over two floors in the lower precinct which has everything you could need, but these are very handy. The staff are always extremely friendly and the pharmacists are very knowledgeable, more so than my own GPs I think.

Despite being located in a fairly small town, the pharmacy itself is rather large with plenty of staff around to help out if needed. I've never once had to queue to pay for products or hand in prescriptions & the longest I've ever had to wait for medicine is a few minutes.

As…read moresuch you can hand in your repeat prescriptions to the doctor's and arrange to have the completed order ready to pick up fromthe chemist. As a pharmacy it is very efficient and the staff are polite and helpful. They have a very handy delivery service which is free thouh you do need the cash on hand to pay the delivery person if you pay for your prescriptions. Still if you are ill this is a great help. In terms of over the counter medicines they are well stocked and gain the staff are very happy to help and advise. There are other items available such as toiletries, medical acessories and baby accessories. They no longer carry cosmetics. There is a small selection fo perfumes and any gift sections ebb and flow. The shelves are often bare in places which make the place look as if its closing down when it isn't! There is a photo print machine on site. It is also a helpful place for pet owners with their vet medic service - you can buy and order in a wide selection of animal medicines and specialist foods often cheaper than at vet surgeries.
