I was referred to Matt by a friend that used him and I couldn't be happier with the results. As with any attorney he needed a retainer fee and when that was sent he got with me right away to discuss my case and how we were going to go about defending me. His staff kept me up to date on things and were constantly in touch. I also knew that if I didn't hear back immediately from him, that his staff would let me know what's going on as I am not his only client. I've seen some of the 1 star reviews and just don't get it, Matt is up front and knows what he's doing and will remind you of that if you start to let your emotions get involved like I did. **Do Not Hire** Anyone reading this please take my advice and learn from my experience hiring this firm and wasting over $12K for my custody battle. I am not one to usually take the time to write negative reviews but I felt compelled to do so to save others from wasting money & time. I hired this firm as a recommendation from a friend almost 18 months ago. As with hiring most attorneys/firms everything was great when you pay their retainer fees (which I did with eagerness). However, put simply the way they do business is a shit show. They are extremely unorganized and extremely hard to get ahold of. They showed up to court late and these last few months never responded to my calls to speak with them. I spent the last 3 months trying to get ahold of someone to discuss my case which is set in court here in the next few weeks....unacceptable. And I get the whole COVID issues with running a business but as for how much I was paying and spent there is absolutely no excuse to do business that way. Due to their lack of contact, I hired a new attorney and I am still having issues with this firm in transferring my case to my new attorney. When I called to ask them to transfer my case and why they hadn't done so in the 10 days since the request, I was told to call back and ask their receptionist despite speaking with the person who was in charge of handling my case management. Charged me over $40,000 came to court unprepared every single time did not have the proper documentation that I provided to him months in advance. Take copies of your own documents to court if you decide you want to hire him. The only thing he did, that was good, was the deposition, but he was not able to use it in court, because he forgets things and he's very rude. This firm came highly recommended. So I met with Matt and hired them to handle two cases. Unfortunately the lawyer that states he will represent you will not, your case will be handed over to another lawyer. In my case it was Sandy, the lack of communication became an issue. Ignoring my emails, my phone calls and ignoring opposing counsel created alot of problems. I was not made aware of certain hearings or what was being requested at the hearings, nothing I asked for was being requested at hearings. Instead I get an email days later with the outcome of the hearing. The handling attorney never spoke up for me or defended me, instead made me feel as if she was on the opposing counsels side. I had to ask over and over and even towards the very end never got responses, they don't care about your case, you or your children. I released the firm from one of my least complicated cases and asked they handle the more complicated as trial date was set with witnesses set to attend. I hired Matt based on the recommendation of a peer at work who was going through a nasty divorce. Matt took a personal interest in his case, fought hard and obtained a great outcome for his client. Unfortunately I was not so lucky. I had one initial five minute call with Matt, paid my retainer and then tried several times to make a follow-up appointment to talk in person (his office people canceled twice). On the critical day in court, I was pawned off to another attorney who gave me no guidance. I settled for a terrible deal that has financially ruined me. If you're reading this, you're doing your due diligence to find the right Attorney. If you have a family law issue, do not hire Mr. Dearmy if you seek qualified representation. Mr. DeArmey was always unprepared and rude to me as a client. He came to the hearing, but wasn't even present for any proceedings because he was in another court case. He would ghost me on phone calls, and never prepared me properly for my day in court. I could be wrong but I was told by another attorney that Mr. DeArmey isn't even an FMLA Attorney. On top of all of that, I was never refunded the left over money from my retainer like he said he was going to do. When I asked him not to file my judgment he went ahead and did it anyways. Now I have to unwind the need he made. If you want adequate family law representation I would suggest a firm called Brown and Dahon. I had them before Mr. DeArmey but they had to accuse themselves because of a legal technicality. They will take care of you. Run from this firm. read more

Wow!!! Matt DeArmey was so awesome for me and my case. Right off the bat he seemed very knowledgeable and confident. Even during then initial meeting with him, he made some phone calls on the spot to get some more information about my case--information that I probably wouldn't have known yet at that time. But he got the job done. He eventually worked out a deal with the D.A. where my case was dismissed. I'm on parole and the original D.A. seemed to have it out for me. But somehow he got it to another D.A. and worked out the deal where the case would be dismissed. This guy is MAGIC and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND his services. He also went out of his way for me and spoke to my parole officer to explain some things to him. My PO was threatening to violate me when I tried explaining the terms of the agreement for this case. I'm not one to complain but unfortunately I feel taken advantage of due to my lack of understanding the divorce process and this is one of the reason why I hired Milo F. Dearmey. I explained my situation and trusted him to do what was best for me and my kids. When my court date came up, I was told his son would show up and a couple days before I had called because I still haven't heard from them. I was told not to worry and that they would be there. A day before court I get a call back stating another attorney would show up and that she would be prepared for the day. The day of court. Carol showed carol Schweibinz and as I figured she was so unprepared it was ridiculous, she had no idea how many kids I had , what was going on even lost her brain of thought during court while judge was asking her a question. Pathetic. I brought this to Milo F. Dearmey attention the next day and he asked me to come in. I set up an appointment and a day before my appointment they canceled my appointment due to supposedly an emergency he had. If you are going through or about to go through a divorce, do yourself the favor of meeting with Matt DeArmey and immediately retain him as your counsel. I had originally retained another Attorney, but he quickly realized that my case was more than he could handle so he arranged a meeting between Matt and I. Right away, you can tell that he is a highly intelligent and talented individual with a lot of charisma. He is ethical, moral, professional, and caring and he has a reputation of handling high conflict cases that require special skills. After speaking for a few minutes, Matt began to explain to me exactly what the opposing counsel was going to do, and exactly what the other Parent was going to do. This is not an exaggeration, Matt told me EXACTLY what was going to happen and it all did. I pray (and you should also) that you are not in a situation similar to mine, but if you are, you NEED Matt that much more. I have spent no less than 30 days in court in the last year and a half facing every ridiculous accusation that you could think of that would land me in prison and permanently remove me from my children's lives, but because of Matt I am enjoying my time raising my children as an equal parent. It is important to explain that the opposing party in my situation comes from an extremely wealthy family that has no qualms wasting literally hundreds of thousands of dollars without batting an eye. They went to the BIG NEWPORT BEACH firm and had a primary counsel, a secondary counsel and an entire team of staff against Matt. They have literally had two attorneys at every court appearance against Matt, and more recently, they hired another special counsel raising that number to 3. Seriously, in the last 3 court appearances the other side consisted of 3 attorneys against Matt. If my situation wasn't so serious, this would almost be comical at this point. Almost. Don't get me wrong, Matt has wonderful paralegal support also, but I just want to emphasize to not be fooled into going to/or intimidated by teams of attorneys, big buildings in Fashion Island, or Newport Beach zip codes when you have Matt in your corner. Believe me, I could continue on and on for days about all of this craziness that still continues today, but it would be a waste of time because I have minimal worries due to having Matt on my side. I accept the fact that I am not smart enough or savvy enough to have gotten where I am today without Mr. DeArmey. Without his direction and counsel I would have been out maneuvered and fallen in to at least one of their many ambushes. I feel like I have been living a real life bad sequel to the movie gone girl. There is zero doubt in my mind that if I did not have Matt that I would be forever removed from my children's lives. Even though I have to continue to endure harassing subpoenas, phone calls, emails and letters sent to my employers, PIs and who knows else following me, cyberbullying and a myriad of other annoyances, I am not in the least concerned or even bothered by it because my children and I have Matt to protect us. All I have to do is call Matt or his office and they handle it. There is literally no situation that Matt cannot handle. No one wins in a divorce case, so if you can act like an adult and save your children the drama and yourself the money you should, but if you are forced into the court system you need Matt DeArmey on your side. Again, I pray that you are not in a situation anything close to mine, but either way, do not waste your time with anyone else.
