Historical artifacts populate comprehensive and very well done exhibits that chronicle the history of the RCMP and its key figures. We were especially interested in the history of the RCMP units in various wars, where RCMP Mounties converted to soldiers, and back again to police after their service commitments were met. Interactive exhibits cover modern policing methods and science, such as forensics and anti-terrorism missions. And the tram tour that is included with admission gives insight into the training and commitment required of a flexible, modern, multi-threat policing agency. We spent about 3 hours here - much longer than we had anticipated. That's the level of quality and presentation here. Take a a guided tour of Depot it is so informative and the respect I gained for what our officers go through to serve and protect is commendable to say the least. The gift shop is loaded with RCMP themed gifts, clothes and trinkets. The children "had to" get a tshirt! Our children are aged 4 to 18yrs and we all had a great afternoon at the Heritage Centre.

It really would have been helpful if my workplace gave me a pamphlet on what Tourism Regina doesn't tell you. My theory is that most people spend lazy Sundays at home with their families building stuff (seems like everyone's building something here) or there's a Riders game on. Well, we were two starving Vancouverites looking for food before the game and couldn't find any but chain restaurants open on that fateful Sunday. So hotdogs and beer it was at Mosaic. We were pretty impressed with how efficient these guys are. Massive lines of people moved like some precise, Swiss-made watch and we never had to wait more than 10 minutes at the beer or loo line. Just for context, there was an estimated 37,000 people there for the Riders/Tigercats game. Compare this to 40 minute beer lineups at Rogers Arena, and well, you get the picture. For idiots like me, it's also an open stadium where you can experience pretty extreme weather. See, I didn't know football was played in an open air arena. For some reason, I kept thinking it would be like a Canucks game at Rogers. High up on the bleachers, one minute the sun was searing my skin and the next, cold wind blasting my face. So layer appropriately. Also be prepared to have random children fall asleep on you. It's all communal seating here. Once the game gets going, the energy is phenomenal, especially for a first-time football watcher like me. However, I have come to the conclusion that if I ever watch football again, it's infinitely more comfortable parking your ass on the couch than those hard bleachers. Otherwise, this is a must experience in this town!
