I am only posting this because Debbie has been hounding me, since my escrow closed a month ago, to review her. So, okay. I don't want anyone else to rely on all her positive Yelp reviews, and make the mistake I made. I chose Debbie Gates to represent me in the sale of my house, based on her multiple excellent Yelp reviews. A friend subsequently asked me "why would anyone choose a realtor from Yelp?!?" So, be forewarned. Maybe go somewhere else. Human referrals, perhaps. I don't know if Debbie felt that her commission on my "starter house" was simply too small for her to concern herself with my questions, or if the fact that my stress over my international move caused me to be too "needy" for her deal with, or whether she is simply bad at her job, but I have never, in four home purchases/sales, felt so abandoned by my realtor. Amongst the many issues I have with her representation, Debbie submitted a counter-offer without ever showing it to me. (She sent me an email: "Did you see our counter-offer?" WHAT counter offer?) The counter was entirely vague as to what I would agree to repair. (Many of the buyer's requested repairs involved a third bedroom, which a prior owner had built without permits, and which I disclosed. Debbie advised me to drop the price $25,000, and call it a two bedroom. She is the professional; I agreed.) I could go on, at length, about the costs Debbie "recommended" that I agree to, or the two hour notice I received about things I needed to repair for the buyer's appraiser, but Yelp has a character limit. read more
