I have had the pleasure of working with Joe, owner of DeBorba Events for the past 5 years as I am the owner of Events by Rebecca! I've been a wedding planner even longer than that. Quite frankly it was a no brainer to hire him for my very own wedding this January. Joe consistently blows me away wedding after wedding... successfully DJing an event is SOOOOO much more than running a playlist. It's guiding the client in the planning process making sure they don't miss a single moment to have a special song play - joe did this beyond my expectation. Even as a professional I forgot so many things that he was totally on top of!! It's the quality of the sound system., mics, lighting, etc. Joe has top notch everything - zero glitches. It's being a great MC! Yep - your DJ is the guy who navigates your guests through the entirety of the event. Trust me when I say a bad MC can ruin your event. Joe is the best of the best! Right amount of enthusiasm, never makes it about it, and reads the room!! He's fantastic. It's most importantly knowing the right song to play and WHEN to play it. Like I mentioned in the beginning - it's SO much more than running a playlist. Joe flawless reads the room and vibe and plays the perfect next jam to please the crowd and keep the party going. I distinctly remember almost being frustrated (LOL) that I couldn't leave on "the next song" to run to the bathroom because he kept playing the BEST SONGS and I couldn't tear myself off the dance floor and risk missing it!!! If you want a fully sweaty, hair ruined, dance your A** off time - Joe is the MAN!!! I can't say enough good things about this man and his company. He's 100% worth the investment and then some. Please oh please don't risk your entire vibe, dance party, guest experience for a craigslist bargain or an iPod playlist. PLEASE. You will regret it. OH! OMG!! This was BY FAR the best day of my life, everything went perfectly and was absolutely gorgeous! Deborba Events could not have done a better job with the lighting at my venue, it was breathtaking! Our venue was a large open Art Gallery called Beatnik Studios in Sacramento, CA. As soon as I met with Joe at Deborba Events I knew that he was the DJ for me. He knew exactly what I wanted without having to explain my wants and needs. He has a very user-friendly site and Online Wedding Planner that made our lives a whole lot easier! We were able to log into the system and add the music that we wanted to use for our wedding. We met with Joe the week leading up to our wedding to confirm everything for the wedding. He put my fiancé and I at ease and was very reassuring about the event. The day of the event was even more spectacular then I could have ever imagined, and went perfectly! Everyone kept telling me that they had never seen a more BEAUTIFUL wedding, thanks to the lighting that DeBorba Events provided for us. We had custom patterns for the wedding and they were displayed on the dance floor and also on the wall the entire evening. Completely transformed the room!!! He kept the dance floor alive and full for HOURS! Music was very important to us, and we had quite an eclectic and extensive music list which he arranged together beautifully! From Journey to Pitbull, to Country music. it all fit together so well. WE could have danced all night!! We had to pivot locations from Sonoma to Aptos and Joe was more than willing to make the trip down for our special day. We were 100% satisfied with the DJ services provided by Ruben at our wedding this past weekend! Joe at DeBorba Events was easy to communicate with and was very personable, he seemed to understand our taste in music and was excited for the day. He even allowed us to share our Spotify playlists we had curated for each part of the day, instead of inputting each song into the software the company utilizes. Joe succeeded in getting all of our songs right and coordinated the day with a few hiccups I want to mention just for any future couples who work with Deborba Events. A piece of feedback I received was guests centered on that they couldn't hear announcements very well so a lot of guests missed the cake cutting or didn't know it happened. The main disappointment of the wedding for me was that the music we selected for the reception portion was not played. We had spent so much time curating our music taste and found that "your general generic wedding top hits" were played instead. No guests noticed this, and we of course still had a great time, it was just a disappointment in knowing how much time we had put into the playlist for it to seemingly not be played at all. I'd still recommend working with DeBorba Events, but would just recommend more thorough meetings and conversations with your DJ to make sure the music that is played is what you want. read more

Joe with DeBorba Events was the first wedding vendor we talked to and he gave us so many tips during the planning of our wedding. We had Joe DJ our wedding reception and WOW! We had so many complements on the music throughout the entire reception. Not only did he nail the music, but he also did all of the lighting for our reception, and it totally set the mood! We weren't sure exactly how it would turn out, but when we saw the room for the first time, we were blown away! There were amber leaves on the ceiling and warm uplighting all around the room. A month before my wedding, my previous dj went cold turkey. Didn't respond to my text, voice mails, & calls.. I was freaken out because he was a family friend's suggestion & I had no one to run to make my wedding day that much more memorable. Luckily, my friend Van D. saw Joe from an event a few months prior to my wedding & I saw the review she wrote from him. Since Van goes to many events, I took her advice and contacted Joe right away because I was in desperate need too. To my surprise he was available on my wedding date ( thank goodness it was on a Sunday!! ) & he offered me a deal too! He took me in with open arms & met up with me within two days after we spoke to give me documents that helped me plan my special day. He has the perfect website to help organize everything from first dance to garter toss, even a library of songs to choose from. I loved, loved, loved how he was so on top of planning our songs and having the site to organize our vision because without it, I don't think I would've done it. It was nice to have an extra person to be on our planning since we didn't have a wedding planner. Well, with me & my bridal party being active party people, I asked Joe to make a mix for us to do a last minute choreographed dance at our reception. He was able to send me 3-4 versions to best fit our expectations. Without a doubt the mix & choreographed dance was a hit.. Made our wedding reception so much fun & got our party started!! He was there for the entire 6 hours as my party was over until the allotted time for the venue. About a week before my wedding, Joe met up with my husband & I to make final touches to our special day. He was a true trooper because I asked him to Emcee some complicated names to introduce. My reception went well from beginning to end. With Joe communicating with my venue and him being flexible, things went so smoothly. I'm so glad I was able to work with Joe. I would definitely recommend him to anyone, but book fast because he wasn't able to dj for my brother's wedding :( read more

Currently serving as a photo booth vendor for a sweet 16 party at the university plaza hotel, and after all the events we do, I must say that this music and entertainment stands out. The most important thing is finding the right mix of songs for the audience, properly guiding the party's program, and keeping the crowd entertained. He was very polite, respectful, friendly and professional. Joe was very interested in how we wanted to do our wedding. He was also so much more than a DJ. He was a great host and worked very well with our family and friends. He took our music requests, played them and also added his own artistic touch to add to the rest of the night. I would also highly recommend using his up lighting as they added so much to our banquet and dance room. He saw us through two venue changes and when the last change came 48 hours before our big day he swooped in with our planner to come to the rescue. I don't usually give 5 stars to anyone, but DeBorba Events is the most helpful vendor I've ever had. Not only did Joe stand in as the most amazing DJ, he helped me coordinate our timeline so that we would not have a thing to worry about. He was also the one that helped recommend my Photographer. They worked so well together as a team. Throughout the wedding, he checked on us to see what activities we wanted and how much time we had and reminded us to have fun and take moments in. For any other important stuff, he helped to to my maid of honor so we didn't have to worry about a thing. He gave me a sense of security and I was not worried once at my wedding (and that's huge when you're the bride). He's incredibly organized and plays the best music! I had so many friends come to me after the wedding raving about how amazing the DJ was. I HIGHLY recommend him. Even if you aren't sure, write him an email or shoot him a call just to meet him. Start with that and I guarantee after your first encounter with him, you'll be sure. That's how easy it was for my husband and I. Ask away with questions, he's very experienced and helped answered all of ours even if it had nothing to do with being a DJ. Our wedding venue had their own planner for our big day. Joe took it upon himself to be that extra hand (without overstepping). Wedding flow went great, Joe has a web based application that he goes over with his client that provides a timeline/music selection playlist/payment method for his services. Joe met with us multiple times to run through out the planning stages of our big day. I was so surprised how great he runs his business that I had to give him a shoutout during my Groom speech. We had the normal song requests that Joe accommodated from our guests, but he also provided lighting at our reception that looked awesome! On his business web application, you can select songs from a vast list of music (I mean everything was on the list of music or he would accommodate adding anything not listed). We had trouble picking out songs for different parts of the wedding and he even recommended a iPhone app that provided ideas for each part. We did use Joe for the ceremony, he mic'd up my wife and my self before our reception. All in all, I feel like a gained a new friend in Joe. He did a lot more than what you'd expect from a DJ and offered great ideas for our big day. He got people on the dance floor I never thought would be on there(including my mother who just recovered from a stroke). He was our best vendor at the wedding (and we had pretty awesome vendors). He comes highly recommended by my wife and myself. We will recommend Joe to all our friends getting married. I cannot stress what a great experience he provided, I wish I through many parties to keep hiring him. He's on top of his business and it shows by the service he provides. I know that it's difficult to figure out what the best option is when it comes to the entertainment for your wedding, because I've been there! Our DJ was brought to us from our amazing wedding planner, Kate Whelan. Joe Deborba is the BEST, and I would recommend him to absolutely anyone, without hesitation. The minute we started working with Joe, it seemed like every piece of the wedding started falling into place. From our initial meeting, we knew how much he cared about making our wedding day the best it could be. He agreed to meet us over coffee, and made us feel like we were hanging out with an old friend. We talked about what kind of music we liked, and he immediately understood what kind of vibe we were going for. A week before our big day, we went over all the special song requests. We had a LOT. Joe was patient, and by the end of our meeting, he made us feel confident that he would help us throw the party of our dreams. The day of our wedding, he delivered!!!!! Deborba Events was one of the many many many DJs I contacted for my wedding which was this last September 2014. I was actually really stressing about not finding the perfect Dj. Music of corse is a big thing, but also we were really looking for someone that had the "It factor" for us. Someone that had a personality and could guide the guest throughout the evening and not be corny, obnoxious or trying to steel the spotlight. Along with these requirements we were looking for someone that could play a large variety of music from county, hip hop, oldies all the way to Portuguese music. Well after calling probably 15 different company's all around the bay area and officially starting to really stress, I got a hold of Joe. Owner of Deborba Events. Before calling I checked out his website. I loved it! You can tell A LOT about a business on how they present their web page and seeing the details they have put into it. This coming from someone that runs their own successful business and pays attention to the little things.. Deborba Events website had a very elegant look to it. My style!! Well once talking to Joe we were able to set a date to meet. He met us mid way being that we weren't from his area and we were able to meet at a Starbucks. When we met, he presented himself with a well groomed appearance and guess what a personality that we actually clicked with!!! Some weight had finally been lifted off my shoulder!! As we began to talk, the whole wedding planning felt completely real and sunk in that we were actually getting married. Joe had an amazing packet filled with questions from music to timeline layouts and along side was explanations of what was what and what was traditional vs not. Things I would have never even thought about. And trust me I had my wedding binder/books. So not only was he going to be there to DJ, he had the knowledge and was willing to help coordinate the timeline of our special day with all our vendors. So leading up to the day, Joe had got us set up with an online account on his site which was where we could log in and out of as we pleased to jot down songs that came to mind. This was also a place we could put info as far as timeline and names of other vendors so he could be in contact If needed. It was a great way to help us all stay on the same page without playing telephone tag with our busy schedules. The day of the wedding Joe made it a point to come in where I was getting ready to see if anyone needed anything or help with anything. I thought that was pretty sweet of him. He also was able to round up our Photographer, videographer, officiant, venue owner, photo booth company and confirm everyone was on the same page and aware of the timeline. Which by the way he had emailed the previous day to each one of our vendors on his own time. Lets just say our wedding was perfect. If it wasn't for Joe helping as much as he did it wouldn't have laid out so perfectly. The crowed loved him and he guided the guests without steeling the show or being obnoxious. O and I can't forget how it started to rain while everyone was out on the dance floor (outdoor venue). So instead of shutting down, he whipped out a pop up tent to cover his equipment and kept the party going without missing a beat. Meanwhile everyone else just danced in the rain. So fun!! . I am so glad We found him. Thank you So so so much Deborba events. I promise you as a busy hairdresser in silicone valley, I will always mention Deborba Events to the brides in my chair that are beginning the wedding planning. Joe was the absolute best wedding DJ ever. From the moment we spoke I felt so comfortable with him and knew we'd be in good hands for our big day in Carmel, CA. He made sure to walk me through every detail, allowed me to ask as many questions as I needed and he was so kind and communicative along the way (which is key for a bride!). We received SO many compliments on him from our guests, and even had a few people ask for his contact info for their upcoming nuptials.
