Roll the dice. With this Decatur taxi service, it's a crap shoot. I've had good drivers and I've had ones who had to hot wire their own taxi just to get me someplace (true story). Customer service can be iffy, be prepared to wait about 30 mins. no matter what the situation or time of the year. On the one hand, it's all we got, on the other, more professional services like Checker Cab Atlanta really stand out. You also can't count on service outside of Decatur. It seems hard to get a Decatur's Best taxi when you are anywhere other than Decatur. The last couple of times I've had to use them, I probably could start a blog about the weird cabbies I've gotten. We needed a taxi to the Marta station to catch a ride to the airport. I called an hour in advance for a taxi at high noon. The dispacther told me that there was no problem. 12:05 rolled around and the taxi arrived as promised. A clean cab and gentleman driver. He helped us with our bags, and off we went. We arrived on time to the Marta station without a hitch. Reasonable rate as well. No complaints here!!! read more

I definitely agree with Hannah's review. These people should not be in business. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!! My family took a trip to Miami last week, and we were going to use Decatur's Best Taxi to take us to the Marta station in the morning. I called the night before and scheduled a pick-up at 4:35 the next morning. We all got up and were ready to go a little early. So, I gave them a call and reminded them of the scheduled pick-up, and let them know we were all set and waiting out front. The dispatcher said, "I've got you down". Good enough for me . . . Forward 15 minutes at 4:45 - we are still waiting in front of our house with luggage and a 17 month old baby. No sign of any taxi. I call again, and politely remind the dispatcher of our scheduled time, that we are waiting in front of our house, and we are trying to catch a flight out of town. OH, By The Way . . . This Taxi Service Is Two Blocks From Our House!!! She lets me know that she is waiting on somebody to come "on-line" and that may be 15 or 20 minutes. UNACCEPTABLE! I cancelled immediately. God awful! We gave them multiple times to prove they were not absolutely terrible and they proved to be unprofessional and unrealizable each time. We called well in advance to set up a pick up they then confirmed we were good to go and then when it became close we would call to get an eta and they suddenly became busy or they couldn't get ahold of the driver. The dispatcher would change her story and actually blame us for being late or not showing up at all. So thanks to them, we were late or missed a flight, a concert and a show. Decatur's Worst Taxi Service: Okay this happened at Christmastime but immature me still needs some vindication. I am still pissed about this experience. Needed to get to Marta to catch a flight on Christmas Eve afternoon so called Decatur's Best, and informed them that I had a flight to catch. They said 15-20 minutes. After 45, called and they said "The driver is right around the corner". Called back 1 hour 15 min and they said the driver would be there in 5 minutes. I said should I call another taxi service they said you can if you want to but the driver would be right there. 2 1/2+ hours after the first and subsequent angry calls to the operator, who clearly did not give a crap AT ALL and kept lying to me, the driver finally showed up. Apparently he had been forwarned the I was quite the beyotch so he did not have a thing to say to me and did not even get out of the car to help with luggage, just popped the trunk. I was nice and talked to him since he did not do anything and he still completely ignored me, no apology from the company or anything. Missed the plane, grown woman crying in Delta Airlines express help line, was just so frustrated at that point. Concerned and sympathetic employees gave me free cocktail vouchers and got me on a flight 6 hours later. Finally got to my destination at 12:30am Christmas. Thanks, Decatur's Best! You rock! It's no wonder Uber and Lift are driving cab companies out of business when you experience Decatur's Best Taxi. Everytime I use them it is an abysmal experience. I decided to give one last try today but never again. 1) Over 5 min wait time to speak to a dispatch agent. 2) The dispatch agent refused to allow the cab to pick me up at my desired location. I gave her the name of the landmark church at cross street of Decatur's most major intersection. Commerce and Clairmont. That wasn't acceptable b/c I didn't have an exact address. 3) The cab driver ignored me when I walked up to the cab. I am 9 months pregnant and was carrying multiple grocery bags. He didn't roll down his window or open the door to the minivan. Then he accused me of taking a long time to get to him. And he wasn't being funny. He was serious. 4) The cab driver told me I should have had him pick me up across the street at the church and refused to believe me when I told him that the dispatch agent would not allow it. 5) The cab driver only made excuses for the dispatch agent. He never apologized for the poor service of himself or his company. He could tell I was not happy when he dropped me off and then offered to help me to the door with my bags. Under no circumstances will I ever use this company again. Checker Cab is a much, much better experience. I am a Decatur resident and I am embarrassed that this is the face of Decatur to visitors. read more

Every time I ride with Decatur's "Best" Taxi, I remember why I need to start saving up for a car.

I needed a ride to the Marta at 3:30 and needed to leave my car at home. I called way ahead (like 1:00 or 1:30). 3:30 rolls around, no cab. I give them 5 minutes leeway, then called. I was put on hold for several minutes, long enough to indicate that my cab wasn't coming and they were scheduling another one. I was told my cab would be there in five minutes, maybe sooner. I waited another 5+ minutes and finally just left in my car. I got a call at 3:50 wanting to know where I was and I was like "Uhm, I needed a cab at 3:30, I already left." TERRIBLE! Can I give this zero stars? Worst cab experience ever! Called the night before to schedule a pick up for the airport. They were 20min. late and did not call to tell us. In the cab now and hoping we make our flight in time! Cab smells like pee. I have the window down and I'm freezing but I don't want to throw up from the smell. We were told credit card was accepted on the phone but it turns out that type of transaction takes much longer so we just had the stop at a ATM to get cash; ANOTHER set back! Called the previous night for a 5:30 pickup and they never came. We called them and they obviously screwed it up, said they'd scramble one over and call us back in 2 mins. They never did. I had to use this service for the days when I didn't have a ride home from school. They even gave me coupons and I didn't need many trips so I would call and speak to Carol I think was her name and each month they would calculate how much I was going to have to pay them for one way trips home and they would give me coupons to help with a discount. All in all I would pay $15 for a ride home. The drivers were OK and they were never late picking me up. The times were set up ahead of time when the drivers needed to be there. The only time I did have a problem with the cab service was when I was needing a ride from the store or something. Only then was when I would have to wait hours for a cab. Of course I would call back and they'd say "It'll be there in 15 or so minutes". Never showed up and I would end up hitch hiking home. read more

This is the worst company. They should find another business to be in. I have used them on a couple of instances and had the same terrible experience. Here is my latest experience: I called at 6am and requested a van to carry 4 of us to the airport from Decatur to arrive at 7:30. That is an hour and a half notice. They were not here at 7:30 so at 7:35,I called and the woman who answered was rude and said "they will be there soon" and hung up. 7:45 came around and no cab. I called again. The same woman answered and said, they would be there in 15 minutes. I asked why the delay and she said I should have called 30 minutes prior if I wanted a van. I then told her I called an HOUR and a HALF before we needed it and she said "oh well" and hung up. At 8:00, there was still no cab. I called one more time. Got the same woman who said, "he is very close" and hung up on me again. By 8:15 when there was no cab, we decided to drive ourself to the airport and pay to park. Again, this is very similar to the last time I tried to use them. The problem is, there really isn't another option in Decatur. One one PLEASE start a reliable cab company!!! read more

Hard to give this company any stars. We don't usually use cabs for this but I couldn't get away this day. I called in advance to book a taxi for my mom to make a doctors appointment. I called well in advance but no one showed. 10 minutes after the scheduled pickup I contacted the dispatcher and was on hold for nearly 20 minute "only to learn what my mother was telling me in my other ear. They are noth there. They indicated the Taxi would be there in less than 5 minutes but this too was an underestimate and we ended up going out of out appointment windo (and the 15 minute buffer) and missing our appointment. We will likely be billed for the missed appointment I am just glad it wasn't my mom's Chemotherapy appointment?? Horrible experience. read more

Absolutely the worst experience of my life. We needed a ride to Turner Field for a braves game. When I called and asked the dispatcher, I was told $20-$25. When the cab got there, he said $40. I told him that was too much. He asked how much would I pay and I said $25. He said ok and turned off the meter. He drove like a maniac-he almost hit six cars. When my son went to pay, my son handed him $40 (expecting $15 in change). The driver didn't have any change so he said he would keep the $40. My son told him no and took one of the $20's back and gave him two $1's and a dollar in change. Well in all of the mess, my son dropped him phone in the cab. I called the cab company and they called me back and said the phone had been located and there was a $5 fee to return MY phone. Ok I tell them bring it back to me at Turner Field. Oh no the $5 fee is if we are in DeKalb County. After arguing for twenty minutes with someone in the office, the driver calls and tells me $50 to return the phone. I told him he was out of his mind. I told him and the office that I was reporting it stolen to the police, the driver and the office decided it would be returned for the $5. What a nightmare!! DO NOT USE THIS CAB SERVICE!!! Oh and the cab had over 350,000 miles. The cab stunk and was torn up. read more

This is a poorly run company that consistently is late upon arrival. I am a frequent traveler who takes a ride to the airport usually once a week and schedules my rides more than 12 hours in advance. I already planned for them to be 15 minutes late and they still consistently need to be called to check my status after they do not show up at the scheduled time. Have used them several times since my recent move to Decatur, because I travel out of Hartsfield regularly. My experiences with the dispatcher mirrors those above...long holds; telling me the cab is just around the corner, and arriving 45 minutes late for a reservation made in advance, after 4 followup calls. Had to take the cab to the airport when I had planned to go by MARTA, in order to make my flight. However, the drivers I've had were fine once they go there. This cab company's customer service is hooooorrrrible!!!!!!!!! I used them as a last resort when my car was in the shop and I had to get to work. Customer service is ghetto and very rude and short with you...one girl even hung up in my face when I asked her a simple request to let my driver know that he had passed me by and that he should turn around. I wanted to place a complaint with the BBB but of course they are not a rated business. The drivers however are courteous if they don't try to talk your ear off or cheat the meter. When I went inside to get my checkbook, the driver fled, taking my purse and my boyfriend's iphone with him. I wish I could give - 5 stars. This summer I wanted to take a taxi to marta to get to the airport. I called the afternoon before to book a taxi for 6am the next day. The person on the telephone was rude, but said it would be there. The next morning I am waiting for the taxi. Once it was10 min late I called them and asked what was going on. They said it would be there in a few min (rude again). After it was 25 min late, called again... Same answer. The taxi got there about 45 min late. The driver never apologized at all, and wasn't helpful with my bags. I ended up having to run to my gate to make it on my flight that I should have been easily on time to if the driver had been at all on time. Horribly unprofessional. Before you read this let me save you some time: if you are a Decatur resident, call a cab from downtown Atlanta or a neighboring county if you want a cab in under 20 minutes. It has taken 3 consecutive epic failures to motivate me to sign up on yelp and trash this company. They just flaked out on me again tonight and i miss a function that i was supposed to meet my girlfriend at. The cab driver was 40 minutes late before he called and hung up on me when I questioned him about his tardiness. I cant go into full details of each instance because it would take too long. This company has miserable dispatchers beyond what you would expect from an average cab company. They tell you that the cab will arrive in 20 minutes and I have waited up to, if not over, an hour 3 times in a row. I've had 2 of their cab drivers call me and bail out with a 3rd one on the way on one scheduled pick up before I called a deferent sevice. These instances spaned over a 1 year period and I spoke to someone at the company each time so it's very obvious that this will not improve because I guess people just put up with this and assume that's just how it goes with cab companies. It doesn't have to be like this. If you want to make some many, start a cab service in Decatur with very sumple and obvious business principles. You'll put Decaturs Best Taxi out of business and do a good service for Decatur. read more

I asked to speak to manager and she hung up . Manager could care less about fixing this issue for future clients, but she did get me a cab. I used these guys again after a long break and things seemed to have gotten somewhat better. The drivers, as always, are very nice and typically arrive on time - however, there are still some that don't know where they are going. The biggest issue I have is the old and outdated credit card process. It takes about 10 minutes to get it done, which consists of the driver having to run the old credit card swipe machine and then call in the numbers of the card over the radio. I would recommend Yellow Cab for service and credit card transactions. read more

Use only if you have absolutely no other choice: If an asteroid is about to hit your place and they're they only way out, user them, but be sure to allow for at least 1/2 hour in case they are late. I'll never forget taking DBTS to the Avondale Marta Station with my 6 months pregnant wife, the driver did not budge to help us with our baggage and proceeded to take his tip out of the change! Why is this the only taxi service in Decatur? Sure, the drivers are friendly, but the management seems clueless on how to run a taxi service. You cannot rely on this company to be on time. I've missed my flight because of them (when I reserved the taxi the day before!), I've been late to appointments because of them. Sometimes they are on time, sometimes they are not. A 20 minute wait turns into an hour wait and the only consolation is "we'll try to do better next time." If you find another taxi service, use them. Figuring that this Halloween Saturday was going to be taxi mayhem, we booked a van for six people with two different taxi services in Atlanta. Decatur's Best gave us the impression that it would be no problem and gave us the most confidence in showing up at our requested time. So thirty minutes before we were to be picked up, we cancelled the other cab company that had been very skeptical about providing a van cab on time. However. thirty minutes before the requested pick up time, the second cab company actually contacted me and said that they had dispatched a cab. Afraid they would actually show up too early, I cancelled the request, confident that Decatur's Best would arrive on time as requested. However, fifteen minutes before they were to arrive, Decatur's Best called to tell me that, at 8:15 on a Saturday mind you, all of their "van" cab drivers had gone home for the evening. He then recommended that I either have them send two cabs for us at double the cost for the trip or maybe call a different cab company, specifically mentioning the one I had cancelled with already! This was actually the third bad experience I have had with Decatur's Best, once before with a driver and once with a dispatcher. I told their cab dispatcher that it was completely unacceptable to lead people on like this, and that I would never be using their cab service again! Three strikes is too many to give anyway when there are so many other taxi services to choose from! read more
