I was told everywhere from 9 months to 1.5 years. Because we didn't have 7-9 months to plan for a baby coming, our options were limited. My daughter started going here when she was 7 weeks old and she went until she was 11 months when we moved to NYC. The teachers were really great and my daughter seemed to really like it and didn't seem adverse to going. We stayed in NY for a year and when we got back, we enrolled her again. She loves her teachers. She talks about them all the time. The people who work here seem to really care about the kids. I also like the fact that everyone who works there knows the kids names even if they aren't in that class (pre k teachers knowing 2 year olds). The place is really clean and that's also important. The price is also fairly economical (compared to a lot of other places I had talked to) which helps. They only seem to have waiting lists for Pre K, but for infants and toddlers, they have an extra room so if they need to open it up to fix the teacher/student ratio they do.

Initially, we weren't happy because we weren't getting the information we were looking for on his daily report which was supposed to detail how much he drank, when he napped and for how long and when his diaper was changed, etc. We were getting almost blank sheets that seemed to be haphazardly checked. When we asked if our son had a BM (constipation issues), they never knew...they would get on the phone and call someone else and then they wouldn't know. Sometimes they would say yes, he did...and I feel like they were literally making it up. Things progressively got worse from here. One night about two weeks in, my husband and I went to pick our son up. When we walked in, he was sitting in a swing getting no attention...covered in dried puke. When we picked him up, his diaper was FILLED with pee and poo and weighed no less than 2 lbs. So we changed his diaper, cleaned him off and changed his clothes and left. I was in shock in the car...thinking 'did that really just happen?' We're paying these people a lot of money to ensure our child is taken care of and this is what we get??? There is a laundry list of issues and I only have a limited amount of characters to get my point across. Hopefully what I've just explained is enough for you, as a parent, to seek care from another daycare and NOT the YWCA.

HTPP fosters a beautiful sense of community--not just among the children, but among families and teachers as well. It's a place where everyone knows your child's name, where communication is open and thoughtful, and where genuine relationships are built. One of the things we appreciated most was the emphasis on whole-child development. Our boys learned so much--not just academically, but emotionally and socially as well. The teachers are incredibly skilled at meeting children where they are, encouraging curiosity, and helping them grow into confident, kind, and capable little humans. We also absolutely loved the music and gardening programs. The joy and creativity our boys experienced in their music classes carried over into our home--there were so many days we were serenaded with songs they'd learned at school. And the gardening program is so special. Watching them develop a connection to nature, getting their hands in the soil, and learning about plants and the seasons was joyful. On top of that, the school's commitment to outdoor play is something we deeply value. Every day includes a minimum of one hour of outdoor time plus weekly garden exploration. This connection to the natural world is rare and so meaningful--it really makes HTPP special. We are endlessly grateful for our time at HTPP. It's more than a school--it's a magical beginning to a child's learning journey.

The facility is inviting, nurturing and thoughtfully run - a calm structured space that is safe and full of love. The teachers are nothing short of spectacular. They care very deeply for their students and you can feel it in every interaction they spend with the children. Our 3-year-old has grown so much emotionally, socially, and academically, and we credit so much of that to the amazing environment at Primrose School of Midtown. Special thanks to some of our absolute favorite teachers: Ms. Nikki (infants), Ms. J (toddlers), and Ms. Kamari (early preschool). That said, every teacher we encountered was exceptional, and we do not have a single negative thing to say about any of them.
