The shelf needed some custom trim work done to match the wood stain and overall design. I asked for a "built in" look for the bookshelf given its large size, so it feels like a main feature in the room. From start to finish, Eric exceeded my expectations for the project. He was a pleasure to work with, very responsive to my requests, and fairly priced for the work he did. The fact that he has a design background in addition to carpentry skills set him apart from other woodworkers and "handymen" in the area. (I hate to even throw that handyman term out in relation to Eric because he is truly an artist!!!) The bookshelf repair and custom trim project took a couple of weeks total to complete as he squeezed me into his schedule between larger jobs, but the work turned out perfectly and was totally worth the wait! Eric did some of the work on site at my home (measuring and cutting), but completed other aspects at his own workshop (staining and fine details), before returning to do the final install. The bunk bad is unique in that it only has 2 legs on front side and is screwed to studs on the wall on the opposite side. This design utilizes lesser space in this room. I gave him a photo from an online add. He sketched the bed frame, build it, and installed it a week later. I, then hired him to frame and install 2 heavy doors from HD. He had to frame an opening that was to wide for my barn door. I had a barn door install to isolate the living room from the rest of the house for a business space. Richard and his crew also installed a new exterior glass front door to allow more natural light to enter my living room. I loved the results! When using the contact form on the website for DIGN Homes about my need for roof repair after a storm, I never heard a peep from the company. No phone call, text or email. However, (and this may just be a coincidence), the next morning at 9:20am someone is ringing my doorbell as I am sleeping. I have signs at both my doors stating I am a night shift worker. Do not disturb. I live in a gated community so no strangers should be able to get in and ring the bell. I get up thinking a neighbor needs help. Instead I see a carpet cleaning van in front of my home. Did DIGN Homes send a carpet cleaner unannounced in response to a roofing job??? Either way there was no communication from this company after I submitted my inquiry online. Don't set up an online form if you're not going to use it.

I proceeded to build all kinds of things in school, from a stereo cabinet with speakers, to a regulation size solid oak pool table with automatic ball return. My instructor could see how passionate I was, and pretty much let me do my own thing in class, as long as I had completed my required work and passed the tests. I had no idea at the time that I would be building custom hardwood furniture as my career. I still enjoy it just as much today as I did back then. Maybe more!
