I was so impressed with John and his work that I had a hard time limiting this review. Although I have had lots of 'work' done in my home over the years it was generally limited to just one or two things at a time (i.e new wood flooring in one room, recessed lighting in another room, replacement windows, etc.) This was the first time I took on such a large project and totally renovated several rooms. I have hired enough people in the past that I know the difference between good work and lousy work, and we all know there are a lot of lousy companies or contractors out there. I usually try to get referrals from friends when I need anything done but nobody knew anyone that could do everything I wanted. It was simply fate that I found John, and I am so thankful that I did! I did all my homework and asked all my questions. I checked the BBB and Licensing Board and even asked for and spoke with references. One of my biggest concerns was "Are you going to be on site and who is 'we' when you talk about who is doing the work?" I have had too many experiences where someone comes out and gives you a quote and says we will do this and we will do that ... and then you never see that person again, they send out totally different people to do the work! John assured me that he would be on site most days, which he was, and that he had a few people that he used to help when he needed it. He explained that he only used certain workers that he has worked with in the past and basically have the same work ethics that he does. Sorry this is getting long already. Let me just say a couple of things that really impressed me. Number 1 was how many things John knew how to do. Electrical, plumbing, carpentry, texture and painting, tile work, you name it, he could do it, and do it well! He did not do the entire remodel on his own, he knows when to call in experts, like George who did most of the tile work and was truly amazing. Johns has so many connections in the industry so if he can't do it or needs some help, he generally knows exactly who to call. The thing that is different with John is that he doesn't just call them and then put it all on them, he makes sure they do it the way it needs to be done and again he always checked in with me if he wasn't there. The second thing I really appreciated was that John knew I was nervous, and he checked in with me often. How many times I hired someone to do job and they don't check in and when they are done it was not what I was expecting. John checked in BEFORE he did anything he had a question on, that way were no misunderstandings. John and his team are wonderful to work with!! They are professional, courteous, they show up every day and clean up every day! And he stayed within the budget!! I did not get hit with some unexpected charges at the end. I had a project that several others had quoted as being rather difficult, but John jumped right on it. The previous homeowners enclosed the car port to make it a garage, but it was enclosed too short for me to actually park my car in. The challenge was that bringing the garage face out requires re-routing of the walkway to the main door. John was fantastic in working with my budget and making sure that it looked like it had always been that way. John was communicative, on time, easy to work with, and had a quick turn-around on project completion from start to finish. Everything about working with John and his team was top notch. I have never had a Reno completed on time and John's team completed it exactly as they estimated. If he said they would arrive at 7:30 am, they were there at 7:29. They had impressive attention to detail and happily adjusted anything i thought was necessary without a single bit of attitude or pushback (also something i have never experienced before) The project was beautifully executed and his team was kind and respectful and tidy to have in our home. John was quick and efficient with coming out in person to see my old demolished shower and immediately diagnosing the source of the leak in my shower pan. By the next week, he already had George working on my new shower, which was completed in 3 days. He also had Gabe and Eric come and fix the drywall around the bathroom and affected leak areas. John replaced the siding on an old extension of our house that wasn't done correctly and warped over time. The work he did was exceptional!! He was very knowledgeable and his experience shows in the quality of his work. Our house is older and has many "quirks" that can be challenging too. John was able to give our old house a fresh modern look while still maintaining its charm. We are very happy with everything and hope to work with John again for future projects. He replaced our water heater with a hybrid heat pump water heater. He was on time, reliable, very knowledgeable about the system and efficient with his time. His installation was clean and precise.
