Dr. John is a gem. Truly…read more I had a minor emergency on a Saturday after de-boarding a cruise in Ft Lauderdale. I stubbed my toe on my luggage and the entire big toe came off and was sticking straight up and down but still attached at the base. It was horrendous, and gory and painful. I was panicked and unsure what to do - should I go to emergency room? Can I wait till Monday and go to podiatrist? I'm literally in an unfamiliar city, 4 hours from home, by myself and not knowing what to do. I ended up searching for Podiatrists near my home city of Clearwater and read through a few... well Dr John ended up being like 5 or 6 down on the list and something about his profile and info that just felt right. I called and even though they were closed there was a phone # for emergencies so I called and left a voicemail. Dr John called me back within 5 minutes!! I explained the situation, he put me at ease and told me I could wait until Monday and that he'd have the office call me first thing Monday morning to fit me into the schedule. Well sure enough, 9am rolled around and they called. My experience with the Doctor as well as his office was so great. Everyone was so kind and accommodating. Apparently I have a fairly extreme phobia/anxiety of foot/toenail issues and was basically having a downright "fight or flight" reaction. I was so afraid of the pain of having to have my big toenail taken off, and afraid of the sounds of the procedure, afraid the numbing wouldn't work, etc... I was a downright wreck!!! But the ladies in the office were sweet and brought me water and mints to help try and keep me calm, and reassured me the doctor is so sweet and gentle. Well they were so right. He came in with a big smile and so kind. He explained everything he was about to do before doing it, so that nothing was a surprise. He made small talk to try and divert my attention, and was just generally a very nice man. While the shots hurt like a b*tch, that was the worst part. I didn't feel anything after that. Afterwards, while we were talking he even mentioned that if I had needed to stay in Ft Lauderdale initially he had already been thinking of names of other doctors he knows and would've called them to get me in, and all I could think was - this man is amazing!! The thoughtfulness really won me over. While I hope I don't have to see Dr John very often in the future, I'm SO extremely grateful for he and his office!!! I'm so glad that for whatever reason I was drawn to his office over the other ones. He's the exact man I was supposed to see, to help fix me up. The universe lined me up with an exception man to help get me healed and calmed. LOL So would I recommend him? Absolutely, hands-down, without a doubt YES! Highly recommend his office.

They also provide free wifi so I can post a good Yelp review without having to chew up data (LOL)! Light music was playing in the background from one of the local radio stations (the "Dove"). That plus a nice receptionist (Sierra) certainly helped my anxiety. I came here because I smashed my right foot on a stair at my townhome. Fortunately I didn't break it but I did quite a number to the nail; partially torn from nail bed. Blech! Wound up seeing Dr Komarov this first go round. After introducing himself and looking at my issue, he had X-rays taken to be thorough. No broken bones; wee! He also trimmed my nails and clipped off the one part of my detached nail. He thought the rest was salvageable; he advised warm water and Epsom salts. He also advised to use a bandage for the rest of the week with triple antibiotic. Follow up in two weeks to see how it's coming along. He also looked at my other big nail; took a sample to send to the lab to check for infection. Meantime, back in two weeks for follow up. Kinda slow today; apparently he was the only doctor on duty this afternoon.

No apology or personal contact to say there was a medical emergency. I was shocked at this flagrant disregard for their patients. My face showed the offense felt so the receptionist felt the need to defend the sign by saying it wasn't her but her boss who told her to post the sign. I received a survey just before opening YELP six days ago. I said I would like to have someone call me. No one has. I used Dr. Levine years ago and everyone was kind and professional. No longer!

Dr. Aiken understands the mentality of runners, and is very conservative in his treatment. I had to have my first cortisone shot in over 20 years in my heel, and he was very calming and professional during the procedure, which can be painful. He was the ONLY podiatrist in 25 plus years that diagnosed me with a heel spur that had likely been present for decades. Great advice--again, he knows and understands athletes and he ALSO worked wonderfully well with my 89 year old Father In Law and his multiple issues with his feet/toenails. My follow-up visit I was given a Cortisone shot without any anesthesia, which was painful, plus he cut my toenails so short that I could not wear shoes for over a week, had to wear open toe sandals. I therefore transferred to another podiatrist closer to where I live, and experienced much better results. Dr. Aiken may help some of his patients, but he did not help me!

However, she never received the prescription. She has called six times and even used the patient portal to follow up, but they still have not sent it over--and it's now been more than two weeks. Needless to say, she will not be going back. This is incredibly frustrating, especially since it wasn't even a narcotic prescription. She was already nervous about seeing a foot doctor, but she pushed past that fear and trusted them to take care of her. Unfortunately, that trust was not honored.
