Overall, the place is uninspiring, the floor is very sticky and in general it fails to live up to the standards of other clubs and bars in the area. On a thursday, it has a speical offer on which is £15 for all you can drink, which, when comvbined by the steep flight of steps leading to the toilets, isn't always a great thing. The bar staff are very friendly. I wouldn't reccomend it as the place to be, but it is nice to start off in/go when you want a quieter night.

Which is a shame really because this place is central to Port Talbot situated a stones throw away from the Aberafan shopping centre and the Princess Royal Theatre which makes it an ideal watering hole conveniently placed. However once inside the premises, the interior is in a lot better condition. The staff & locals are quite friendly. I enjoyed a pint of the new Guinness Surge there on my visit. The interior boasts Sky TV & Telextext on large flast screens, jukebox, a pool table and in one corner one of those boxing arcade type machines (the ones that determines the strength or weight of your punch) you would normally see at a funfair. The walls are painted a dark green, with a few pictures on the wall, this coupled with the shamrock motif on the windows drive home the Irish theme yet further. I would heartily recommend a visit even if only for a swift cheeky pint.

Mine host, Mike, brought this pub back into the mainstream five years ago. It had been a house for…read morethe previous 18 years. Mike keeps Reverend James and London Pride on the pumps at all times and there is always a great guest ale too. Last night he started with Sharp's Doom Bar and then changed the barrel for Tribute two great beers that were well kept. The place was a hive of activity last night and the locals and visitors alike obviously enjoyed the beer and the good company. Mike has created a fantastic beer garden too, which overlooks the marsh and the beautiful church at Llanrhidian. He keeps ducks and chickens, which children enjoy watching, and these birds provide fresh eggs both for the kitchen and for the out sales customers. A large car park is available, and the pub is just down the hill from the bus stop. He has surpresssed any problems such as drugs and fighting and provided a good bar well priced. He is VERY popular and respected by the local people and has earned that respect. Be fair to say this is definately a gastro pub as meals are its main priority and punters are not allowed to go there for just a drink. They do however have a range of tempting meals on the lunchtime, carveries on the Sunday (approx. £7 plus pending on how many courses ordered) & range of steak/grill dishes (approx. £13 mark) plus other dishes. Drinks are a bit pricey (just as well it is not a drinking mans pub !). The place is ideal for family, groups/friends & couples. The interior is traditional with some modern touches here and there with a lounge/bar area, restaurant area plus the conservatory. The place is always very busy (they can have up to 500 booked in on a Sunday lunchtime !) so booking is definately advisable. Staff are very friendly & helpful on the whole although service can be a little slow (pendant on the amount of customers). One last thing is that this place is well worth visting for a special occassion and/or Christmas lunches if you wish to spoil/treat yourself. All around big thumbs up.

Ok, it's cheesy and…read morethe music is something you'd not normally admit to liking in public, but it's a great night out and a really fun way to party with friends, exercise your dancing muscles and sing your heart out to tunes from days gone by. Drinks prices are reasonable and, although often very full, everyone's having such a good time, that it's not a problem. Can't wait to go back.
