In addition it felt very much like an old authentic pub inside. We visited on a Monday during their 'steak supper night' which is a terrific deal. "A couple of prime rump steaks cooked just how you like them with a peppercorn sauce, hand cut chips and garnish and a bottle of our Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc or Merlot Rosé wine for just £25". The steaks were cooked perfectly and the servers were attentive, prompt and polite. I also recommend the bread and olive appetizer. Plus the Welshman always has good things to say about it... afterall, he is a bit of a snob when it comes to food! Whilst I have no problem with the LGB aspect of the movement, I have tried to explain the full meaning of the full LGBTQ alphabet and the detrimental impact on children to the managers Sion and Michelle, but despite this they have invited drag queens and ice creams vans to attract and entertain young kids during the day over the Ponty Pride weekend, they proudly display paintings on social media posts of pride paintings on the pub wall, many of these paintings were done at local primary schools without parents consent, that consent would not have been granted in these circumstances, they should take down the posts showing the kids paintings, and remove the paintings from their walls. Pubs are supposed to be a meeting place where people with different political opinions go to relax, the Pontardawe Inn is no longer politically impartial and I question whether it is a family friendly pub for all families, very disappointed and I won't be using it again.

Inside you have a very traditional drinking mans pub complete with ceramic pottery drink tankards hanging up, bar room mirrors and left over Xmas decorations from a few months ago ! The place does boast Sky Sports & has a separate longe and bar area. Drinks can be expensive i.e. a pint of Guinness costs £3.75. No meals are served but bar snacks are available. Staff are very friendly & helpful. Clintele are very sociable too, as underlined by the pub being very busy despite being a small pub in size. Proximity to main shopping centre & nearby to the Arts Centre make it worth a call in.
