Great location in downtown Louisa which is not that far off US 23. Parking lot on side and back of this corner location. Walk in and place your order at the counter while viewing the large menu behind the counter. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and ice cream all served here. Ordered the Dee Burger as recommended by the friendly server who took our order. It's a double cheeseburger with a middle bun, coleslaw on one part and tartar sauce on the other part. Fantastic flavors! Also ordered a side of onion rings. These are the best onion rings I've had in a long time! This restaurant appears to be the hub of activity for the locals. Why only four stars? Their restrooms are located downstairs by way of external stairs out back leading to two very small separate stalls. One of which has a sink but no soap or paper towels. We were informed they are in the process of updating these restrooms. Hope to find a better situation on my next visit. read more

Not the place it used to be. I used to make it a point to stop every time I was in Louisa, and even added an hour to trips through on I-64 to make the trip down US 23 just to stop here, but no more. It has gotten extremely expensive, and while the footlongs and home made onion rings are still terrific, the milk shakes are now basically just soft serve ice cream in a cup. You have to let it melt for a while to be able to get it through a straw. And sometimes they don't have regular straws and give you a thin straw that is only good for cola, like you'll ever get anything from a cup of ice cream through that straw. Dee's milk shakes used to be like the gold standard in milk shakes, so I don't understand why they'd go away from one of their best features. Just about a stones throw from the West Virginia border in Louisa, KY is this hidden little gem with all kinds of yummy goodness and friendly, helpful staff. My husband had Dee's Double Bacon Cheeseburger with a side of Onion Rings and Potato Salad. As I wasn't very hungry, I ordered a plain burger with tomato only and a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. If I'd ordered 2 burgers, I would have eaten them both. They as well as my mashed potatoes were flavorful and positively delicious. At one point I looked up and saw that my hubby's cheeseburger had vanished into thin air, yes indeed he was a very happy camper with his meal as well. We missed the opportunity to try their raved about milkshakes but fully intend to rectify that on our return trip! The front desk clerk at our hotel who had told us about Dee's said it has been around as long as he can remember, it was a popular hangout back when his Grandma was in high school. A Louisa staple and quite possibly the best chocolate milkshake I've ever had. Their burgers taste like one straight out of a family cookout and their cheesesticks are complete noms. Pass on the ranch, tastes like hidden valley and I was honestly hoping for something more homemade. They have a drive up where your food's delivered to you or you can go in and eat. This is a restaurant I remember from my childhood and the owner is a very nice respectful man but the lady the does the car hop is one of the most impolite judgemental person I believe I've ever encountered I watched her lie to a homeless lady saying the bathroom was out of order when if wasn't and the lady wasn't just stopping to use the bathroom she has ordered food was riding a bicycle had left once and came back her order still wasn't done she got up and started to go down the stairs where the bathroom was didn't make it two steps and the car hop lady runs out the door screaming the restrooms are out of service very loud and rude the girl had a look of embarrassment on her face she sat down on the bench a few moments before walking in I saw all this I was inside the resturant when it happened. When the girl walkes back in the carhop lady and two other employees were talking about her and laughing. There was several children present also. That was so heartbreaking to watch. read more

Best food around Louisa! They have anything and everything! Breakfast all day! Frozen cokes and milkshakes to Banana splits and Hot fudge sundaes! The service is always nice! They stay busy and you hardly ever see any of the employees get upset or aggravated that their busy! They are always friendly with smiles on their face! Very friendly staff and food was good. It is made in behind counter but you can watch your food being made. They have daily specials such as chicken and dumplings, country fried steak, and etc.. Also hamburgers and hot dogs with several choices of ice cream. read more

Dee's is as old-school and small-town as it gets. I was traveling for work, and while I'm not adverse to chain fast food in the least bit, there are just so many dubious McDonald's and Subways inside fuel stations that I can take before my stomach flip-flops in rebellion (I didn't even stop and eat at any of these places, but that is ALLLLL I saw as potential meals during the long commute). I decided to try Dee's (which I'd actually seen on someone's Instagram account), which is a local favorite, over 50 years old and still busily operating in its original location on Main St., and has the reputation as being NOT fast food, just food fast. I parked (parking is LIMITED, and the ingress/egress situation ain't great, but it's in a small downtown, so traffic isn't too bad), and decided to eat inside, where I ordered at the counter and they call your name when your order is ready. Again, old school: handwritten notes on numbered tickets; handwritten menu signs; all-female staff cook your order fresh (so it takes a little but longer than a typical fast food joint); country favorites like soup beans with raw chopped onion and cornbread, breakfast all day, hot dogs, burgers, shakes and pie. The food is quite cheap, so order up to avoid the $0.50 surcharge on all credit transactions less than $7. I had crinkle cut fries with a side of cheese dip, two hotdogs with their "famous" chili dog sauce + onions and mustard (hey, I was HUNGRY! And the portions aren't huge), and a caramel-chocolate milkshake. Overall, the food was very fresh and I thought downright yummy. I really liked the chili dog sauce, it is the kind I am used to eating growing up in small town KY: beanless, meaty, forkably thick, without a hint of sweetness - almost like a sloppy joe filling (sorry, Cincinnati - I love your Graeter's, Busken, and Saratoga chips, but I just can't dig your chili). I really liked my meal at Dee's, it was cheap and satisfyingly home-y. I would definitely recommend eating here instead of the other chain fast food joints littering the area in abundance. read more

Sigh.... All the best of small town America! We happened to be passing through, and had seen this place listed as one of the 'can't be missed' restaurants in Kentucky. We had a chili dog, catfish, soup beans, green beans, corn cake, and a PB & J shake. We live about 2 hours away in Lexington, but the charm of this place, the good food, great prices, and friendly locals tempt me to hop in the car right now to go back! read more

The milkshakes are fantastic. My favorite flavor is Resse's. It is made with vanilla soft serve, real peanut butter, and chocolate syrup. The French fries are really good as well. They have a drive in service as well as the in store, counter-top service. Always a treat! read more

We always stop here when we're in Louisa. They have a diner-like menu and it is cheap. My favorite are the soup beans and cornbread. My family had hamburgers, fries, coke slushies, ice cream, sour kraut, and coffee. Our bill came to $15! So cheap. You get a good bang for your buck here. Order your food at the counter and come get it when they call your number. No need to tip a waitress. read more

My husband and I visited this place.He ordered a reuben sandwich and I ordered a fish dinner.When the food came out his reuben sandwich was most definetly not a reuben,It was regular white bread with a small piece of ham that didnt even cover the bread and some sauerkraut. It was pathetic" and the fish dinner was as well.The fish was two squares that came from a box lol.The food was awful!!!! read more
