I love going to the salon to get my hair done. That's because of Azan's. I've experienced services…read morethat I didn't get at other black-owned salons I've been to, which may shock some. 1. My appointment starts on time. As soon as I enter and register, I'm taken around back to start my hair. I'm not sitting waiting for my stylist for 45 minutes nor am I waiting between services. I've once had my hair air dry while waiting for someone to be free to blow dry it. This DOESN'T happen at Azan's. 2. I don't spend all day at the salon. I can actually plan other appointments/events for my day. 3. They don't charge black market kidney prices. My wallet is not as badly affected and they have special pricing for students. 4. My hair has never been healthier. I relax my hair and using chemicals strips it of natural moisture, usually causing it to break and appear like it's not growing. However, my stylist, Karin, really takes care of my hair. I know I'm in good hands and it shows...right there on my head! For these reasons, I keep going back to Azan's.

All of the staff are highly trained as they rarely hire new people and even when they do they are interning for a long time before touching a head. They're all very lovely people and have awesome advice because they understand hair very well. Daniella their colorist is a wizard with developer and Jenny does an amazing up do! The only reason they're not receiving a full 5 stars from me is because they do charge a lot but I mean, some could say I'm a cheapass. But all in all their work is definitely worth the price tag!

I have had 2 so far with her throughout my process to hair recovery. Her memory is phenomenal and when you are in her chair you are her priority. She has provided me with so many hair tips for curly hair because although she may look like she has straight hair she apparently has curly hair so she can relate and fill me in on the things I need to know. My cut, & colour was $270 - I had to go back to get the colour fixed, and I still have a few white stripes in my brown hair/ - The cut is not what i asked for really, I had to give a lot of instructions in addition to the photo. Also have to mention how Yin managed to give me attitude despite not even being my stylist. She seems nice to clients she knows, but not sure about new clients! She complained in front of me to my stylist about the price he was charging for such an awful job, then checked me out. She took my money, took forever to fork out change, then just takes it back without confirming if it was a tip I was leaving first. Not a word at all to me during this entire time. Customer service? I think not! I was charged $185 in exchange for such an atrocious job and had originally scheduled a second appointment to touch up the roots; however, after seeing my own pictures, I simply cannot return. Have to go spend another $200 somewhere else to fix this btw! Yay!!
