I've been a patient at this office for the past 3 years, and unfortunately, my experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. Throughout my time here, I've been given conflicting diagnoses by different doctors, with little to no clear communication or coordination between them. Instead of feeling supported, I've felt like I've been sent in circles without real answers or a consistent treatment plan. I was also prescribed medications that I clearly expressed concerns about due to potential side effects, yet those concerns were not properly addressed. On top of that, I've been required to pay for multiple appointments just to obtain paperwork that should have been provided alongside my diagnosis. I've also paid for additional visits under the expectation of receiving treatment, medication, and documentation--none of which have been delivered. While the nurses have been kind and professional, it does not make up for the overall experience. The lack of follow-through, communication, and care has caused unnecessary mental, physical, and financial stress. I have been waiting for months for medication that was promised for a condition that significantly impacts my quality of life. My emails, portal messages, and calls have gone unanswered. At this point, I will not be returning. I cannot recommend this office to anyone seeking reliable or consistent care. read more

I've been coming here since 2019 the providers are great but just recently as of today which I just found out they don't accept or do Obgyn appointments anymore. I've gotten no notice no email no letter or a phone call about them changing services! So now all the patients have been sent over to Emory midtown. Which means they have to send over records and their doctors at midtown have to approve it before u can make any appointments it's just a HUGE inconvenience to everything that I have going on and I think it's just unprofessional how nobody notified me about anything that's taken place it's ridiculous read more

Last time i went here was years ago. I had an appointment with Dr. Albert Scott. At the end of my appointment he told me that i was over weight and to "lose some weight or else no man is gonna want you". He had some nerve to say such a thing and whole time he had what appeared to be a cold sore on his mouth. He is a misogynistic piece of work. No matter how many years ago that was I never did forget about that interaction. I was in such shock and disbelief that a medical "professional" would say such a thing to a patient. Very unprofessional. To top it off i called to make a formal complaint and the woman i spoke to laughed and gave a weak apology. She can keep it. Screw you all. You better be glad i have such a high self esteem and didn't go into depression over this horrible ordeal. They have a lawsuit just waiting to happen conducting their practice in this manner. if I could give a zero I would!! Dr. SCOTT is RUDE and cares more about telling you his years of service rather than actually go over your paper work. I went to have an mri read but Instead kept ask why I don't have periods( like sir did you even look at my chart) then he told me there is NO REAL WAY TO FIGURE OUT IF I HAVE ENDOMETRIOSIS!! like wtf then goes on to say how he treated other client. I will not accept being put in a box!! he had one job and that was to go over my mri WHICH he NEVER DID!!! he ended up raising his voice at me and one of his nurse!! I left mid conversation with no answer!! I had to ask him about a cyst that was in the paper work. and this man didn't even know about it!!! I don't recommend this practice and they don't take your health serious! In need of surgery and constantly lying about scheduling surgery. It's been 3 weeks and still haven't heard nothing. Omg so today was my first visit at this place and I am so happy/pleased the front staff was nice and professional and dr Sanchez was so nice knowledgeable and really good at what she does she didn't make me feel like just another but took time with me and I forgot her name but the lady who did my blood work was so nice and good at her job as well it was quick and no pain I have found my new home/doc only downside is the wait time is long but def worth it read more

I received prenatal care which was great. I am now 6 months postpartum and wanted to schedule a problem visit. I also have not heard back regarding my tubal procedure from my 6week post-labor follow up and will now have to start the entire process over again. I was told that they had to check to see if I exceeded 10 visits with my insurance (I called my insurance and they had no idea what I was talking about). This doesn't make sense because there is usually no limit to # of dr visits according to my insurance. Then I was told that the earliest appointment for a problem visit, after explaining that I was in excruciating pain is 2 weeks out. I got the feeling that the person who took my call didn't want to help me so I will be going to urgent care and finding a new gynecologist. read more

This location was very unorganized. When I arrived 10 mins before my appointment i checked in and they called to the back within 20-30 mins which was ridiculous and then i waited for the doctor to see for another 30 mins. I waited an whole hour to see the doctor and there were barely in patients. Their communication was horrible and i would not recommend this OBGYN!!! read more

First, I must say that I gave this practice too many chances to improve over the two years that I went. But, the final straw for me was...I had an ultrasound and blood work done in an effort to determine why we hadn't conceived after trying for over a year. I never received a call or letter providing my results. My doctor told me during my ultrasound visit that she wanted me to come back in for a follow-up to review those results. After not hearing from them for over 3 weeks, I called the office asking for my results and to schedule the follow-up appointment. The receptionist just kept forwarding me to the nurse voice mail. And after leaving 3 messages, no one ever called me back! Frustrated and livid, I gave up on this practice and found another one that cared. A little concern would have been nice! One week prior to my appointment with my new practice, I called them and left a message to request for my medical record to be sent to my new OB-GYN. They called me back 30 minutes later! Really?! But, you couldn't return my calls about my results! Ridiculous!! To make matters worse, when I saw my new doctor she informed me that the ultrasound that they performed revealed that I had a cyst that needed to be checked out! I was pissed to say the least! Not to mention that the new doctor said that they should have started testing me before an entire year had past without getting pregnant. They could have tried Clomid or other tests. Don't waste your time here! They obviously do not care about their patients. read more

I initially chose Dekalb Women's Specialist because as African American woman I was excited to be in the care of a practice who represented me. Boy , was I wrong , I would not recommend them to anyone. As a first time mom you don't know what to ask or what to expect and they did a very poor job of preparing me. The CNM always seemed exhausted and over her job. It really wasn't a welcoming environment over all. They do not care about the mom or the baby just money. I had issues towards the in of December 2022 and was dismissed as a patient because of it and wasn't able to be seen for about a month and half in my third trimester. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise because I found a new OB, and they are wonderful!!!! Please do not go here, especially if you are a first time mom, you are better off with google and urgent care compared to them. Horrible and stressful experience. 0 out of 10 would not recommend! read more

Here is the honest unbiased truth of my visit. I was able to get an appointment one day after calling even as a new patient. The office was clean. Staff what's very pleasant and strait forward. The wait was a reasonable 30 minutes. They brought me back asked my height and weight but never took my Bp. I'd gone in for a screening and requested a sono becaause Something felt off. During this visit I found out I was pregnant. I was also told I had some bacteria present. I was prescribed 1000 mg of antibiotic which is a lot for even a woman not carrying. In wanting to assure the babies safety I took them and felt quite under the weather for two days . 3 weeks later I began having pelvic discomfort. Something just didn't feel right I went to another dr who did blood and a sono turns out the 'baby' was only 5 w 2d when it should've been around 8, Upon calculating that measures out to the exact day I took the antibiotics. With falling HCG level I was miscarrying. I called the office to see what the levels of bacteria were and to check my hcg levels from that day and was told the panel did not specify the actually levels of bacteria(which after consulting a holistic practionioner, often goes away on its own) nor did they check my hcg level even tho theyd dated me at 6 weeks...Still wondering how this was calculated. Overall this was a very unthourough visit that has ultimately lead to some serious consequences. I am sharing this as a testimony for women to know and ask for exactly what they need from doctors and research the information & diagnoses given. Rude, ignorant, careless people! They don't care about the moms & babies they just want money. I've been here 3X for my prenatal care. On one occasion the doc didn't have a clue what to do she just asked me why I'm there, although I spoke with the nurse the day before. Today I come in & wait for an hour in the waiting room, the receptionist & the lady taking my vitals were extremely arrogant. The ultrasound tech wasn't present although I came for an ultrasound. It's no wonder why they go through staff just as fast as customers. Getting a refund & never coming back. read more

I have never been so unimpressed by a doctor in my life. I visited their office after finding out I was 5 weeks pregnant. At that time I met with Dr. Caryn Johnson. I immediately told her I was still undecided on whether or not I was going to continue my pregnancy but it was a strong possibility that I would be continuing. She immediately became very uninterested in continuing the appointment. I asked at what point of the pregnancy would I need to make that decision and she told me anytime before 20 weeks! Then proceeded to tell me that I didn't need to follow-up with any prenatal visits until made my decision (at which could be at 20 WEEKS!). She would not prescribe any prenatal vitamins at that time either. I'm glad I followed up with another doctor who strongly advised against ALL of that advice. Given that I was UNDECIDED, which meant I was still strongly considering carrying to full term, advising me against prenatal care and vitamins until 20 weeks seems like poor medical advice. I also had to push for an ultrasound which again she didn't want to order until 20 weeks (although all other patients get there's at the 2nd prenatal visit). Highly disappointed! And as a follow up, I called the office to report heavy bleeding and bloodclots (literally the size of plums...which I described to the nurse) and to ask if I could come in immediately to be looked at. The nurse who answered told me they had an appointment for next week SMH! I went to the emergency room and was rushed in due to what was later diagnosed as a serious medical situation. Update #2: Moved to Philly. Called and emailed to request that my records be faxed to my new gynecologist here in Philly. Went to my new gynecologist for an annual exam.... Do you think DWS faxed my records to my new doctor? OF COURSE NOT. Why should they, you know... do their job? How much time/effort does it take to send a fax? If you're willing to drive all the way to Philadelphia, my new gyn is awesome ;-) haha! Seriously - I was in and out of the building in under 40 minutes. Last time I went to DWS, I spent 65 minutes just in the waiting room alone before even being called back for my exam. read more

I returned to Dekalb Women's Specialists several years ago after having a negative experience with another Ob/Gyn practice. Surgical complications after the birth of my last child made me nervous about ever considering surgery again. However, Dr. Scott listened to my concerns and was very patient in helping me to overcome my fear. Although it took years before deciding to have surgery again, I'm so glad that I did. It's been almost a year and I have no regrets. I appreciated his prayers, surgical skills, and bedside manner as well as the staff's attentiveness to my needs as a patient. I started going to the Stonecrest office when i found i was pregnant in April. my first exam was a pap smear, literally 2 months later and 3 vists i was told i has an abnormal pap smear that was not cancerous....i should have been told this when the results cam in but unfortunately that was not a priority to them as it was to me, They give you the less conversation as possible doctors, nurses and front desk. the ONLY nice person is the ultra sound tech(middle aged white woman, forgot her name but she was uber sweet). This is the worst doctor I had ever seen in my 35 yrs of life. I waited a long time for my appointment although I was told to arrive early for paperwork. I had already done my paperwork online, but this didn't shorten my wait. Dr. Caryn Johnson's exam was rough, lacked compassion and bedside manner. She was never interested in getting to the bottom on the cause of my extended stomach. I had a total of 3 visits which was a waste of time and insurance money. I got frustrated and really needed some answers about my health as my issues got worse. My stomach was bigger and I was in a lot of pain and wasn't pregnant. A girlfriend of mine suggested a great Dr she knew and I called immediately. This Dr was thorough and was pleasant. She ordered an MRI immediately because of my condition and I was able to get a complete diagnosis. Now I'm scheduled for much needed surgery. Please do not play with your life. I have been a patient at the DeKalb Women's Specialist office for about 8 years and I am very pleased with the service I have received. Dr. Kathleen Johnson is my doctor and for many years was the only doctor I had. She was a "full service" doctor. When she thought my thyroid was enlarged she sent me for testing. She asked questions that were beyond the scope of her duties as my GYN. I appreciate the gentle reminders to do my breast exams on time, have my cholesterol checked and monitor my diet. Dr. Johnson gives me a level of comfort that I have rarely received in the medical community in the Stone Mountain/Lithonia area. I would strongly recommend this practice. read more

By far the WORST doctors appointment I have ever been to. I will never again to here or recommend going here. Had an appointment at 1:50 was not seen until 3pm and it was not crowded at all in fact I was only the third person in the waiting room . When I finally get called back to a room upon entering the nurse hurried and pulled the paper off the bed to discard it being the room was not cleaned up after the last patient had left very unsanitary , furthermore she did not wipe down the bed at all. Upon the Nurse Practitioner Dr. JENAE Miller she came in and was not thorough at all. As far as birth control options she only explained one and gave one sample but did not write a prescription as requested by me when the appointmented was made and upon request after she entered the room. I have been with Dekalb Womens Specialist 2 years and I must say hands down they are the best. The atmosphere is very family oriented. Last year we went through our first pregnancy with them and unfortunately due to circumstances out of our control we lost our baby girl. The staff was very supportive and held our hand through the lost and reminded us that God has everything under control which was more than they were required to do. We shortly found out we were pregnant again and they were just as excited for us as we were for ourselves. But on the medical end they took every precaution and monitored every twist and turn of this pregnancy as if they had experienced the lost themselves. Even the last few months when pregnancy is the most annoying they each took the stance of reminding me to hold it together you are almost through and you will have a beautiful bundle that will make it all worth it. These people are more than nurses and doctors they are a special part of our family. When I wanted to question if losing our daughter was my fault they wouldn't let me beat myself up. THEY DIDN'T HAVE TO DO THAT! I have never had the bad experience of waiting forever unless I was late and then ofcourse that is to be expected and even then it was never a ridiculous wait. In closing I must say I love these people because of their care and concern our little man is here and extremely healthy. He is beautiful and like they said every sacrafice and pain has been forgotten and was worth it. read more
