We stopped here on a Sunday, and the rec center was closed, but when I cruise by this area, I usually see people using the gazebo and charcoal bbq grills for parties and picnics. This location is where they hold the annual Clairemont Family Day http://clairemontfamilyday.com/index.htm. Upon closer inspection, this large rec center & park space also includes: - A softball field - A full-size basketball court - A tennis court - A playground Per the website, there are meeting rooms, a kitchen, and a kiln room inside the rec center http://www.sandiego.gov/park-and-recreation/centers/sclairemont.shtml. Nearby is the Clairemont Pool http://www.sandiego.gov/park-and-recreation/aquatics/clairemont.shtml and a Skate Park http://www.socalskateparks.com/park/Clairemont. With so many activities available nearby, there's no reason for kids of all ages to complain about having nothing to do. Just go outside and play!

Wow!!! I had the most amazing day this past Thursday down at the Del Mar Racetrack. I have a…read moresuggestion for them and if they are smart they will listen to me. I got to the track early and was helped by the kindest young man on the 1st floor of the clubhouse named Michael, who showed me how to bet on these new gambling machines. He suggested to me to bet exacta and trifecta bets so I would not have to bet big but I could win big payouts. He was right, he told me who he liked and I won 2 races! But I watched the guys on the tv before the races and I began to think, Michael should be on that broadcast. Total shining star! Show this to Del Mar Thoroughbred Club Public relations because Michael is so charming and people would go crazy for him. Tall Dark and handsome. Plus he is so good at choosing horses and would be such an asset to the racing telecast.

There are picnic tables all around. There's a public restroom as well. Their hours of operation is from 4am and closing at 10pm. There's fire rings for bonfires. Sandy beach area if you want to build a sandcastle!! Please be mindful that there is NO LIFEGUARD on duty. Watch your kids. Overall, a nice place to relax and enjoy the water. A great place for a lunch break!! The breeze was so nice that I wished I had a book to read after my walk!!!

On a sunny Saturday morning, the boat ramp was not busy. Vs Dana Landing which has boats coming in and out all day. 2. There is tons of parking, and multiple bathrooms along the paths. 3. Lots of grass, picnic tables, and sand for kiddos to play in. But you cannot swim here! The bathrooms were cleaner than the ones at Dana Landing, but I do have one gripe. OK, two. In the women's bathroom, the stall doors barely clear the toilet, so you have to stand between the toilet and toilet paper holder to open/close the door. And all women flush with their foot (at least all my friends do), and the handle is probably 4 feet off the ground. I could flush with my foot, but it was difficult. My vertically challenged friends would not. We walked around the whole island, and there are a few places you have to follow signs, because the path goes through an outdoor restaurant and through a hotel. But it was a nice stroll and I would highly recommend checking this park out.

I usually don't go towards the Chula Vista part and beyond because I mostly run by myself and it can get sketchy with trolls living under the bridge(I'm serious), there are isolated areas, and the path is not well lit at night. Used by bicyclists, runners, joggers, walkers, bladers, strollers, you name it, this path is very popular. When I lived by the bay and bikeway along 7th and 8th Street, we had the perfect view for Independence Day fireworks all along the bay from Coronado, to J St. Marina, to National City. This is one of my favorite scenic spots to run when I get tired of the gym. They have added dirt paths alongside the bikeway for dog walkers and explorers, and some benches along the way with more informational plaques about the area's history, and the many birds that flock here to the estuaries to seek refuge for the winter. Stop by Trident Coffee at 13th St. or visit Rad Bikes and test drive the e-bikes along the trail! You'll have a nice morning and afternoon here.

There are accessible nature preserves and Coronado has spots to rest and dine. Well utilized section with people exercising. On the other hand the northern section is quite the opposite. Not a dedicated trail and majority of it runs through industrial sections in Chula Vista. Garbage is strewn all over near the freeway. Be careful not to take the wrong fork to Sweetwater Trail, which is very isolated with some homeless camps. I can skip this section entirely, but a short detour through Bayside Park and J. Marina is recommended, where you easily reconnect with the trail by the Freeway entrance.

We arrived close to when the doors were opening and there wasn't much of a line. We walked in and went to the ADA section as that's where my friend needs to sit we were greeted courteously and chose our seats. It was a beautiful sunny day and there was a breeze. It was very pleasant in our seats. Before the show started, we split a burger and fries. It seems like the food choices here are very limited as opposed to Petco, but the burger was good and I am always a fan of wedge fries. The first band started and I was surprised at the clarity of the sound. So many concerts you go to you can't understand the words and sometimes even the music, but not that night. The crowd was happy and easy-going. There were quite a few security guards present I suppose in case anything got rowdy. It did not, it was a mellow crowd. The bathrooms weren't far and they were clean and well stocked, and the signs directing to them were clear. I would definitely return for more concerts here and I'm surprised I hadn't been yet, but I look forward to coming back.

The sound was solid, and there are a few nearby businesses where folks were also watching the concert. It is fully outside, and the weather in Southern California has been warm as of late, with San Diego seeming a bit more humid than LA (Where I currently live). However, there are enough concessions available and spread out enough to where you should be able to grab a cool/cold drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) as well as food (at stadium prices, mind you!). There are no seats that I saw, but there are grassy areas where one could sit down and still have great views of the stage, Be aware that the stardard stadium/arena rules are in place as to what you can bring in, but I did see that they provided some lockers. As far as outside food, this venue is right next to the Gas Lamp district, so there are PLENTY of options. Same goes for hotels. I stayed at one of the nearby Hiltons, and the walk was less than 1/2 mile. Events at the staidum itself or at the convention center will have a signifigcant impact on room rates though... If any future shows that I want to see come through here, I would be glad to make the trip down again as I enjoyed the venue overall, as well as the show. The singer from Thee Sacred Souls was actually able to come down and interact/move through the crowd, which was cool. The locals I met were friendly and great to talk with (just dont admit to being a Dodger fan! The beef is real!).
