MHHS focuses on the "flipped learning" concept where student and teachers work collaboratively in the classroom. Online learning is part of this process and it has caused much controversy. From my perspective, there is a benefit in learning from new technology. Information is distributed much more quickly and students receive the latest up-to-date information. I remember being in a private school growing up and learning from traditional textbooks published 10 years ago. I wondered as a student why I was learning out-of-date material. Fast forward to today, and I find myself appreciating this school's commitment in learning from Internet platforms. Students are issued chrome books which serve as their textbooks for the year. No textbooks are issued. Good or bad? IMO, good. I don't have to worry about my student carrying luggage to school. We just worry about two things. 1) don't lose your chrome book and 2) keep the chrome book functional The downside for some parents is simply my son or daughter is on their chrome book all day. But what is the difference if they are hovering over a textbook or chrome book? There is no negative difference! I know my child is studying. I hear parents complain about the large homework volume, but I don't get this argument. Homework is part of the deal in high school and prepares kids for college or the rigors of the military. After all, high school isn't supposed to be easy. It's supposed to prepare students for what is in front of them - post high school life! My child and MHHS students benefit from "flipped learning." I went to a prominent University in my undergrad years. Professors expect you to have the ability to function on your own -- no hand holding! Papers are submitted online. Assignments are given through class and reiterated through Internet modules. Students communicate with professors in person but largely, by email! Assignments and papers are submitted through -- guess what --- email or an online platform! This is college! MHHS prepares kids for college by forcing them to be independent learners! I love this. I know my child will go through ups and downs, but by the end of high school will be more ready for the everyday common practice of college life. I've heard complaints about teachers not doing much during class time. In the first year, some teachers would refer kids to websites when class questions came up. My child's experience is this happens minimal but I'm sure there may be a percentage of teachers who may not be engaged. My hope is all MHHS teachers are involved in the learning process and infuse enthusiasm in their class. Every class depends on the direction and enthusiasm of their teacher. As a parent, I'm able to track my kids progress through Aeries. Other schools also use Aeries (or equivalent), so MHHS is using an accepted module for parents to stay in tune with their kids grades. Mr. Rexelle's music program is top-notch! They have won awards in competitions the last two years! The sports programs are developing with girls basketball leading the way with its success in the school's first two years. The track and football field is a impressive! This school has gone through growing pains, but I strongly feel the staff in place continues to steer the school in a positive direction. I know many of the teachers and administrators. They are good, caring people. I see this school getting better and better each year. With all the people moving to Mountain House, this school will be the prominent focus of this town.

And to see that over 400 kids making A/4.0 better Honor Roll in any school was quite a successful achievement

Coach Tom is incredibly professional and has superb swimming skills. Both of my kids learn swimming…read moreunder his guidance. Thanks to his meticulous and patient teaching, my elder son quickly mastered all four swimming strokes and various underwater flip turns, and successfully joined the swim team. My younger daughter was originally afraid of water, yet Coach Tom guided her gently to get comfortable in the water at her own pace before teaching her swimming techniques. Whenever their strokes are not proper, Coach Tom offers targeted corrections and demonstrates standard movements personally. Even after they have finished full swimming courses, we still sign up for several lessons with him every summer to refine their techniques. We truly trust his professionalism and highly recommend him.

I initially decided to send my kids here because my friends sent their kids here and only had glowing things to say about it, and I'm so glad I followed them! The maestras/teachers are wonderful, experienced, and patient. The owner, Maestra Ana, is on top of everything, helpful, and communicative. The school is a Spanish immersion school which i was drawn to. My kids have learned a lot of Spanish since they started, and they've learned so much, and have fun doing it. They have circle time, a playground in back, and a great system in place. They also provide breakfast, lunch, and snacks. The environment is welcoming, and I feel confident that my kids are safe and in an environment where they will thrive. They also post regular photos and videos of your kids in a school app so that you can see how your kids are doing throughout the day. That's been great for me since I was a bit concerned about their transition from home to a preschool. Also, if you're planning for your kids to joint the dual immersion program at Von Renner, then having them start at Primeros Pasos is great idea to give them a head start. They may also be labeled as bilingual by the time they test for Von renner, and have a better chance of getting in. I heard the dual immersion program is very competitive. The TK program at school is only in English, so that's something else to consider. Lastly, the school accepts CAPP, which is a program by the county that helps with the cost of care, so be sure to ask Ana about it if cost is an issue - because there's help if it is.

I graduated with my official Associates in Arts Degree in: General Studies, Social & Behavioral Sciences domain. What a fascinating subject. I had been attending school for over 20 years I believe it is and was so excited when COVID-19 struck. I saw it as an awesome opportunity to further my collegiate studies and obtain by hard honest labor, an actual college degree. MJC was good to me. Great to me even. I was able to finish up several classes and in doing so I obtained my college degree from Modesto Junior College in Modesto, California. They keep the campus clean, clean and clean. I loved this. Since resources are precious to me and my bunch of rescued family members; cats and dogs, being able to stay home and learn and retain the knowledge from the Professors was a perfect fit. I obtained my degree in the middle of COVID-19 and although it was very stressful; it took me about one year to recuperate from the semesters accomplished & behind me. I haven't been able to use my degree yet but am in the midst of locating something fun and educational that I can sink my teeth into and hopefully earn some much-needed income while there. There is so much financial aid that halfway through me starting my college journey, I qualified for 100% no-cost financial aid. It relieved so much stress and anxiety and anguish for me. (I live with several mental health conditions, one of which is the Bipolar Type 1, and that makes for a challenging environment and some memory challenges but I persevered and passed ALL my classes. I am so grateful. I thought I earned an A/B from my college Professor for an advanced English course but alas, the letter "C" is what remains. Sorry about that, I digressed ;) Check out the DOR = Dept. of Rehabilitation out of Modesto. It's a State of California-funded "NO COST IF YOUR DISABLED" which I was at the time. They set me up with a refurbished laptop, school supplies, pens, and pencils paper, etc each semester. They even offer assistance, hands-on I'm told, for locating that career once graduated. It's an amazing COST-FREE way to obtain your college education. My school guidance counselor Kayla Locke IS THE MOST AMAZING helpful and supportive counselor I have EVER encountered. She was part-time when she worked with me to aid me in meticulously at that, be aware of what courses and when I needed to take them to obtain my degree. IT WORKED! She's wonderful and if you're seeking a guidance counselor she's a sure fit. Her knowledge saved me from taking a couple of courses we thought I needed. She surprised me one day via email that I didn't have to take the courses which allowed me to graduate ahead of my class by months.
