The extra large shelter can accommodate up to 100 people. I came to this location specifically for the walking trail and to scope out the 'play for all abilities' dinosaur area. The highlights of the dinosaur area are: Wheelchair-accessible ramps and platforms: Now, children in wheelchairs can smoothly roll onto platforms and access various play structures without hindrance. Sensory play equipment: These are especially beneficial for children with autism or sensory processing disorders. Elements like tactile panels, sound tubes, and visually stimulating components allow kids to engage multiple senses as they play. Low-impact ground materials: The rubberized surface ground materials have been chosen to cushion falls and facilitate easy movement for all kids. Shaded areas: Recognizing that some children might have medical conditions that make them sensitive to the sun, several sections of the playground offer ample shade. We went for a hike there right after a big storm and the grounds were so green and vibrant. We mostly stuck to the Onion Creek Trail as it is paved; however, the storm brought in mud to a few places on the trail, so be prepared to maneuver or wear proper footwear if you go during rainy season. Many families line up to take pictures in front of the upper falls (outside the Smith visitor center), so go early if you'd like a picture free of other guests. We then went to the lower falls area where there is an expanse of limestone (I believe) to get to the falls. There's a very small beach and swimming hole area that many families were enjoying. It's important to note that dogs can't enter any of the water at this park. The park also had multiple designated fishing areas as well. We drove around the campgrounds and they have well-maintained water + electric sites at every site. We would highly recommend a visit if you're in the Austin area.

For the 20 mins or so that we were there on a holiday Monday morning, we got 2 take offs and 2 landings. This was plenty for our two year old, but probably not enough for a 3 or 4+ kid who loves planes. Either way, it's a great option to take kids (and adults).

I came for a group trail run through the 250-acre Onion Creek Greenbelt. The park was clean and in great shape. There is a gravel loop around the park that is about 800 m. However, the draw for me was the nature trails in the park that are not too technical but offer a safe introduction to trail running. The trail was about 4 miles long and is fairly flat with a few steep areas. It was a great place to explore the trails whether hiking or running and connect with nature.

So that's how I initially knew they existed, and more recently Austin influencer Jenna Palek posted that her friends actually own this so that's super cool! Not sure if I came on a bad day or at a low-peak time but it was kind of "dead". I wasn't personally looking for a more busy environment at the time, but just an observation for a Thursday around 5-6pm. I borrowed their restroom to do an outfit change, then ordered a drink because I felt bad taking up space while waiting for another nearby business to open where my event was being hosted. It was fun to watch the staff and patrons laugh together and see "neighborhood camaraderie". One of the staff was celebrating a birthday so I joined in on the singing to him! Also, just to note that there's only a combo "human and dog" entrance, I was trying to locate a solo "human" entrance but I don't think there is one. The bar patio area is leashed, but the yard isn't! They also have food trucks on site but I didn't try them.
