My cousins are well known, so I was quickly accepted. The bar staff were great (they even let me pick some of the tunes later in the night!) The lounge staff were super friendly, the music was good, the beer was fresh and delicious. They had a musician in from around 8, he sang and played guitar first then moved on to singing and playing the sax. Awesome! They have a little enclosed smoking area out the back, which is great for when it's raining. I actually really enjoyed myself here, I think my cousins will be seeing more of me now :)

Slides, swings, water swings, bridges, pirate ships, cabins, BBQ huts, etc etc. This was a day out for every kid big or small and I think half of Dublin's kids made the hour journey south to join in on the day we were there - but it still didn't feel that busy because the site was so big. Superb facility and lots of fun. Space to spend the day, have a meal and still only spend the entrance fee because you can bring all your own food.

The location is in corpus christi church grounds just off griffith Avenue and homefarm road in Drumcondra. There used to be a division between boy scouts and girl guides but now the scouts take boys and girls here and a lot of my nieces and nephews as well as my own two kids go there They go camping regularly around larch hill and other various scouting events. Reminds me of when I was in girl guides.

I'll tell you little secret. There's this private road off Thormanby Rd. You may be clamped or gates might be locked, so be warned and I don't advise to drive there, but I did };p~ (location: http://goo.gl/cJ3tJG). You must come here and go down to that little beach full of polished sea stones. Seals are common fellows there. Sadly, scumbags don't appreciate nature and you'll find too much of trash. Destroys all pleasure of this little stony paradise. It is very slippery on a wet day, be extra careful then on them steep stone stairs. Over on another side you can reach the lighthouse. It has helipad. There opens up a gorgeous Dublin bay / Bull island view and The Poolbeg Chimneys. Be prepared to climb a bit on the way back to the car park. There are several routes and you may extend your journey further on by hiking around the rest of the Howth by trail, which will eventually lead to the Howth village.

What a pleasant surprise we had when we finally managed to do the whole circuit the second time round. There was so much more to see, we had no idea how great it was going to be, to be honest. There are a few inlets and small beaches too, so you can cool your feet off too! That's what we did anyway and it was wonderful. I recommend you get some pre-walk tapas in Octopussy on the pier first, then walk it off around the head, with a post-walk drink in the Bloody Stream. On a summers day it's a wonderful way to pass the time and burn some calories.

The primary advantages of the gym at DIT Kevin St for me were it's proximity and it;s cost…read more Although I was based at Aungier St, Kevin St is just over the road, so it was no bother to pop over there once classes had finished for an hour or so. And as to the cost - Kevin St was just under a hundred a year, whereas Westwood in Clontarf is around €700 per annum (and that's the student; God knows what everyone else has to pay). It's true that Kevin St doesn't have as much in the way of facilities as other gyms (I mean, they have a bench and no barbell. What's the point in that?), but they have a decent range of machines and it's extremely rare that there's a queue for the treadmills. Plus, Kevin St has a pool; quite a small pool, true, but one which is often fairly empty. The only bad thing about the Fit2Go gym is that the powers that be at DIT have cut back the hours of the trainers, so the opening hours of the gym have been cut back as well. By far the cheapest gym around, if you're in the position to avail of it.

We actually found these by accident as we were looking for the waterfall that is in the area. We went into these gardens with no prior knowledge or expectations. After we purchased the tickets and went through the door and were instantly greeted with a view worth millions. Fantastic stone work, statues, manicured grounds and flowers are all around. The trails were beautiful and did I mention the VIEW!!!!!! It is one of those rare places where the pictures don't do any justice. I loved all of the bee and butterfly friendly flowers. I also was seeing some of these types of flowers for the first time which was really brilliant. This place is so beautiful. Take a look at some of my pictures. I really hope that people consider coming here especially if you enjoy nature and gardens. Highly recommended.

Superb country estate and gardens within a thirty minute driving distance from our B&B in Dun…read moreLaoghaire. Arriving on a bright sunny morning, we were enjoying a tour of the manor, but then realized the real treasure lay outdoors - in the gardens. These are breathtaking and words don't do them justice, so I'm posting a few pictures. In addition to the ornate English and Italian gardens which are near the manor, we also visited the extensive (and hilly) Japanese gardens which are much further away, and made sure we stopped by the quaint pet cemetery. Truth be told, we could easily have spent 2-3 more hours at Powerscourt, because there was so much more to see. But it started raining (not unusual in Ireland!), so we reluctantly tore ourselves away and made our way to Enniskerry (with the famous scene from the movie Leap Year) and then to Glendalough via the Wicklow Mountains. Parking was easy, and there is an excellent (but expensive) restaurant and cafe on the premises, so we could renew ourselves with coffee and sugary snacks. Will be back for sure!

The gardens dated back to 1795 when they were founded by the Dublin Society (later the Royal Dublin Society) and are a massive collection of some 20,000 living plants. And like the cemetery, it's free! Glass houses and gardens and walkways and benches and just beautiful flowers and blossoming trees and so much green. Even in early September as we're moving from Summer to Fall. I love that this is free and I think Dublin could do more to let people know that! I have grown up around the corner from this park, so I know it better than most people. Apart from…read moreseeming slightly smaller each year as I grow older, not much has changed. There is still a little wooden hut that entertained myself, sisters and friends for hours on end. It could be used for a variety of activities such as; make believe tea partys, indians and hiding in it when it was time to go! There are also the usual swings and slide and brightly coloured climbing frames. All that is in the playground, but there is also a large open space in which you can play football, tag rugby or just sunbathe. A walk around the park shows beautiful flowers and a rock pool. This is the perfect place to spend a Sunday with the family, or an afternoon with friends. Bring your dog also. They are supposed to be kept on leashes, but if yours likes to be free, the park keeper turns a blind eye if it is well behaved.
