I ordered a custom cake, I ordered a chocolate cake with custard filling, and a buttercream frosting with royal icing decorations. The chocolate cake was the consistency and quality of any package cake that you buy from a box. I was expecting gooey delicious moist incredible chocolate cake. The frosting was not like the butter cream. I am used to it. It was a lighter frosting and perhaps it was butter cream but I can't be sure. The filling was not custard. It was the same frosting is on the outside of the cake. The royal icing decorations were not edible. And there was no merry Christmas written across the cake. When I questioned her about the filling she went in the back of the store and I guess she pretended to look at something and came out, so Yep vanilla just like the picture. I remember the conversation verbatim plus I wrote down my own notes. And when I got home, sure enough, it was supposed to be buttercream frosting And custard filling. Overall it was not what I ordered, the quality was not of something I would expect for a $90 cake from a bakery. read more

I would give this women 0 stars if I could. Rude, dirty and doesn't know what she is doing. First of all she was so rude to me and my sister and treated us like we both didn't know what we were doing when we went there to order the cake. I am a planner and if I had my party in the city I would know where to go. I picked the cake from her own book for my engagement party, my sister picked it up and send me a picture of it. The cake looked nothing like the cake I picked out. I asked her not to use anything fake and make it look pretty but she didn't, she use fake pearls and gift ribbon. When I called her out on it she called me liar. I have spend so much time and money on my party and everything was perfect except the nasty cake she made. We cut and tasted cake and I swear we threw it in the garbage because it was. I was so happy and excited and when I saw the cake I almost cried. I was concerned about making the 40 min drive based on some of the less than stellar reviews. I now know that the bad reviews are based on people that mist likely can not be satisfied. The shop is outdated but who cares, youre not going for the ambiance...youre going for baking supplies. It is not dirty, like some other person mentioned but it is cluttered (its a small space with A TON of stuff). The owner was nothing but pleasant, helpful and gracious and she was busy with other customers. If she was going to be short or rude it probably would have showed when working alone and busy. She helped me find EXACTLY what I needed after having been to 3 other places. I can only assume, because she is a very mild, softspoken woman, that if she truly was rude to someone, they were probably demanding, upitty asshats who got on her last nerve... Anywho, she's a delight and the place has virtually everything for great prices! I will make that drive everytime that I need to restock. read more

I was pretty dissapointed, as this cake was moist and too just delicious to freeze! But to my surprise my anniversary cake tasted absolutely delicious after the one year!!! My 7 year old wants to be a pastry chef, so we were super excited to see there was a bakery supply store in the area! It's a small little store so the selection is limited, however you can find some cool stuff in here that you can't find in the baking aisle at craft stores. It's nice to get the immediate gratification instead of ordering it online. I would love to go here more often, but they have a sign on the door basically telling you kids are not allowed. That makes it a little difficult because I have to leave my younger 2 at home to be able to come here with my aspiring little pastry chef. We especially love the large selection of sprinkles and cookie cutters. I also love their takeout boxes. We do so much baking that it's nice to get the little plastic and paper containers that bakeries use so that we can give her delicious creations away to family, teachers and friends. I believe they have cake decorating and chocolate making classes as well which is pretty awesome, I will have to sign her up for one of those in the future! read more

Delicious Creations did a fabulous job on my wedding cake for August 2015. I wanted something simple and elegant and they delivered. The cake was so moist and delicious that even my husband loved it and he's not a cake guy. I myself am not a cake person either. My brother & sister-in-law recommended Delicious Creations to me for my wedding cake as this is where they got theirs. I didn't taste the cake at their wedding because I'm typically not a dessert person but I remember hearing good feedback and theirs was beautiful. I decided to test them out by ordering a cake for my engagement party from them. I went into their store to place the order and worked with the owner, Sue. She was so nice and helpful throughout the process. They are also so much more affordable than the other bakeries that I had been researching. Our cake turned out awesome. Like I said, I'm not a big dessert person but this cake is so delicious. My fiance and our guests loved it so we decided to order our cake through Delicious Creations. While I was there, I was looking around the store and noticed they have tons of stuff for candy making. Sue started explaining to me how the candy is made and that tons of brides actually make their own chocolate favors for the wedding. This peaked my interest as we are on a budget and don't want to waste money on a trinket that our guests won't even take home. I found a sample candy that I really loved and she walked me through the process step by step of how it's made. I purchased some of the items to test it out on my own and oh my god it turned out so cute. This was my first time ever making candy, so the first couple came out kind of messy but I got it down to a science. Very poor customer service. They lost a customer over the return of a $1.89 cookie cutter which I had purchased the day before and still had the price tag on it. Was treated very rude by the owner. I guess the customer is not always right in this store. Absolutely NO exceptions to the rule. I should have read the return policy that the clerk was not aware of where it was posted. First off don't come here. I over looked all the negative reviews and that was a big mistake! There are a lot of better and nicer bakeries out there! I had a 2 tier Care Bear cake made for my daughters birthday at this so called place. I went there in person and spoke to them told them what I wanted and also sent them an email of the exact cake I was looking for. Since it was my daughters 1st Birthday party cake I was not happy when I first saw it whatsoever! I specifically told them the rainbow is on top of the cake I want stars put on and I want it to say Happy Birthday. You know what they did? I called 2 days before telling them if everything was going ok and if they had any questions and was answered like if I was imposing when im giving business! Nice way to talk to clientele? Moral of the story they didn't put Happy Birthday on her cake, didn't bother to tell me any hidden details untill after the cake was brought to me, put the rainbow in the middle of the 2 tier and didn't even put stars on. We used Delicious Creations for our wedding cake last week and they did an amazing job! I sent a couple pictures of what I wanted, and they made the cake perfectly. We had a red velvet naked cake with cream cheese icing, and it tasted incredible! We got so many compliments on the cake. Sue was great to work with. She was always quick to respond to emails. They delivered to our venue in downtown Chicago with no complaints. We compared prices (and tastes) with another bakery, and Delicious Creations was by far the best option for price and taste. Have dealt with rude employees on more than one occasion. Was told I absolutely could not use colored chocolate melts in a chocolate fountain, that it would clog. I explained I'd used them in the past without issue and was basically called a liar. I bought the colored melts anyway, they worked fine AGAIN. Store needs a good cleaning, overall... inside and out. There are baking supplies and other items that look like they haven't been moved in years. My advice? Drive less than 5 miles to Michaels' Chicago Ridge Mall. I usually give mom and pop shops the benefit of the doubt but this bakery by far has the rudest owner of all time. Her cashier is just as rude as she is. Her cakes are dry and have no flavor. She uses way too much oil in her cake batter. So gross! Her frosting is too sweet. All sugar and no flavor. I am hoping that people read this post and take this review serious and go elsewhere. A family member of mine went there to get a picture screen for my daughter's 3rd bday. It was $6 and some change. We where going to put it on her cake. When my family member got to the car and opened it up she realized it was broken. She she went right back in to see if the would give her another on on and they wouldn't. The lady said "It wasn't broken when we sold it to you". That also told her no refunds. Finally the lady said she'd give her her money back but she couldn't get another one because it was the last one. My family member said that was a lie because she saw the girl take it out and there were more of them. She said the worker was extremely rude. It was $6 give me a break. Recently just had Delicious Creations make my wedding cake in October. Sue did an amazing job and the cake was a hit! Unfortunately, people loved it so much that there was none left for me to take home at the end of the night. It was so moist and fresh. I can't wait to try the top layer next year on our anniversary! As a terminal chocoholic, I was rather hesitant tasting one of their yellow cake cupcakes for a friends birthday celebration, but I'm so glad I did. Seriously, one of the best cakes and the most yummy frosting. So moist, so light, not too sweet, just smooth, flavorful bite after bite of decadent deliciousness. NICE STORE...then we tried the CAKE I've been to Delicious Creations a few times for specialty items that are hard to find. Sue, has always been patient and has given me help in finding the perfect things I need...like creative ways to wrap homemade banana nut breads! She is a full of experience, knowledge and has awesome suggestions. Recently our church had cupcakes from Delicious Creations for one of the events and they were amazing! My favorite was the lemon. We decided to try a cake for my husband's birthday. He is a serious about his birthday cake, and if it wasn't good, I'd have to hear about it until his next birthday. I ordered a three layer cake, two layers of yellow cake and one layer of chocolate cake with Bavarian Cream and Chocolate Bavarian Cream filling. The cake was perfect! The cake layers were moist and full of flavor. The fillings were delicious and the frosting was everything we hoped for. However, I ordered a baby shower cake with them last week, and the girl who took my order and I spoke in detail about what I wanted, going over a photo they had of the cake, and she even repeated to me my requests. She said she would explain it all to the cake maker. I showed up to pick up the cake, and the following items were incorrect: I ordered a 2 tier cake, I got a 1 tiered; fringe icing was supposed to be multicolred, it was only white; the icing in the picture was deep blue, it was so light blue that it almost looked white; I asked for a topper of a sleeping baby in a gown on top, I got a naked baby instead! So far, I can live with this--it rates maybe 3 stars, at worst. However, today I emailed the bakery to let them know of these errors (I didn't tell them at the time because I had to leave work to pick up the cake due to their hours of business and didn't have time to explain.). I received a voicemail from the owner as a response--it was rude and accusatory. I did not ask for any refund, but I thought maybe some apology would be nice--all I got was accused. The owner told me that I got everything I ordered and that I am wrong about what I think I ordered. Additionally, I was berated for accidentally using the word "layer", as in "2 layered cake", instead of "tier"; also for not realizing that the price I paid was too cheap to have been a 2 tiered cake. I am not a cake expert! I am a teacher! This was a horrible experience--even though the cake was yummy, it wasn't worth the rudeness and errors. read more

This was my first time here. Wow, so much fun stuff tucked into every corner. Good prices, plenty of inventory, extremely helpful staff. I even met the owner Sue, delightful woman. The smell of cakes baking filled the shop. It is a bit on the small side, but plenty of space for all that they stock. We used Delicious Creations for our wedding cake in May and it was amazing. We were a little late finding a cake but they were very nice and accommodated us on short notice. We had a video game themed wedding and wanted a cake with a lot of different old school games, we weren't sure how it would turn out but the result was awesome. We received so many comments and compliments about our cake, it was one of the most photographed things all night. The next day Facebook was just full of pictures of our cake and people saying how cool it was. On top of that, it tasted great. They have a lot of choices of fillings and even did a separate sheet cake for us with a different flavors. I ordered my wedding cake from here for my 20th wedding anniversary celebration. I feel that for me paying close $300, I did not get a good cake, it was not what I ask for, it was three tiers, the middle was supposed to be strawberry, the top pineapple, and the bottom base just plain yellow, I saw no strawberries, just a very, very very thin layer of strawberry, and a very thin layer of pineapple I could barely taste it or see it, (many of my guest didn't know filling was even in the cake) I wanted a striped and dot cake which she did do, but it was done with melting chocolate frosting, and chocolate was not what I wanted on my cake at all!!! I thought she was going to use fondue, or candy or even plastics to accomplish the look. The service itself was ok, she seems a little rude starting out, but warms up a bit. We ordered my daughters graduation cake from here. I am very picky person and couldn't be happier with the taste and everything else about the cake. It was two tiered with the top being chocolate with banana filing and the bottom was yellow with strawberry filing. It was decorated just like the picture I showed them. Yummy!
