Delilah is located in beautiful former banking halls right in the city centre in Nottingham. The place has proper artisan feel, with the front selling craft foods and drinks, and restaurant in the back and top area. The menu has a few good options - so choosing only a few was quite hard! My cousin suggested my mum and I head down to Delilah for a birthday lunch out in Nottingham - and I'm so glad we did. It reminded me a little of Bills (or how Bills used to be when it sold more fresh produce...) as it's juggling lots of different angles - deli/ farm shop/ grocer/ bakery/ café etc... and with all these different things going on, it could be accused of being a little confused, however I really enjoyed the vibe here - it was buzzing. There is a larger eating area upstairs away from the bustle and hustle of the deli and produce sections, but for me, we were in the best place right in the centre of the action - right next to the fresh baked bread section (freebies and the aromas cooked bread; perfect!). The menu is well thought out and all gives the impression of a fresh creative chef behind it. I went for the chicory, blue cheese, smoked venison salad - because I just cannot deny 3 things I love to eat all in one dish! It was delicious - admittedly not massive; it would probably classify as a large starter but for lunch it was actually a good size (my eyes are too big for my tummy!). Mum was delighted with her omelette meal which was a bit more hearty (and I had a mouthful and if I hadn't been so taken with my meal I would have had full blown food envy!). It's not really cheap (about £10 for a lunch main) however it's worth the money and I was more than happy to pay it for such a well thought out and delicious meal. I thought we'd died and gone to heaven when my partner and I stumbled upon this amazing deli/restaurant one Saturday evening! We'd just exhausted Nottingham's shops and were pretty exhausted ourselves. We wanted a bite to eat but nothing too heavy, nothing too pricy, nothing too greasy As if it read our minds, the Delilah sign seemed to draw us in. This little shop of delights reminded me of stores depicted in Victorian novels - or perhaps Diagon Alley, with its quaint frontage and shelves containing jars and curiosities. But the incredible selection is nothing short of a modern day miracle! Foods from all over the world, each more intriguing and enticing than the next! Our vegetarian plate of dips, antipasti goodies (those amazing mushrooms! The artichokes! Goats cheese! OMG!) and breads totally hit the spot - but what really sold this place to us were the lovely, friendly, relaxed staff. We've got so used to bad, impersonal, even rude service that it was so refreshing to go somewhere where we were so warmly welcomed! It was all very relaxed, no hard selling going on here. And the approach definitely works, judging by Delilah's popularity! One of Nottingham's best kept secrets no more! We left the shop very satisfied, purchasing a small bottle of raspberry balsamic vinegar and some spicey sausage for my partner. My only advise - don't go on a Saturday! Otherwise it's fantastic. Staff are informed, friendly and helpful and allow you to wander and gaze, (and dream as prices are high!) It's no wonder they've won National awards. xx read more

Just bought some olives in here for a treat, they were lovely. I liked the fact that you were encouraged to try before you buy, will definitely visit again. The only thing that stops me going crazy is the price, but i wouldn't mind picking up bits occasionally. read more

If you like gourmet sandwiches (and boy, do I!) then there is no doubting that Delilah offers the finest in town out of all the top-end delicatessens in Nottingham. Considerably more expensive than my all-time fave, French Living, Delilah nevertheless offers a truly scrumptious menu, I can still remember my lentil pate and pesto sandwich with very fond and vivid memories, definitely the nicest and most unusual vegetarian sandwhich I've ever had. It's a lovely little place with a great selection of specialist foods on display, but there are a couple of drawbacks. Firstly, and most importantly, because of the size, seating is restricted to just a few high stools around the counter (there is a small courtyard too outside for the 'warm' weather we occasionally get!) but this means that you will be very, very lucky to get a seat at lunch time, and are more likely to be reduced to hovering behind people who are still eating- horrible to do, and even worse when it's done to you! Secondly- and this is one of my major bug bears as I'm very sensitive to atmospheres- it is a bit pretentious in there with people showing off their Prada and not being particularly friendly- annoying and a bit sad! I also wish it was a tiny bit more central as it's a bit of a hike if you're shopping in Victoria Centre, but all of that aside, I do recommend and really enjoy this place- the food is just so damn good! read more

A small little deli, just near the broadmarsh centre and down from the lace market tram stop. This is great place to get hard to find ingredients, and special treats. Although it is not cheap you have to remember that it is an independent business, promoting fresh and good quality produce. You can sample olives and chutneys and they have a nice range of cold meats and chesses. There is a small section inside the shop where you can get freshly made sandwiches and antipasti, as well as a small outdoor seating area when the weather is a bit nicer!! read more

Lovely place, nice people and a cheese counter to die for. Have eaten there once or twice, it would have been more but there is so little room and too few stools to guarantee you can always get in. But when you do the food is good and so is the wine - maybe a bit on the pricey side but hey, life's too short to save money on treating yourself. read more

Great little place. Lots of hard to find essentials all under one roof. When eating in the food is excellent. It can seem a little expensive, but you get what you pay for. Expect to get quite friendly with shoppers and other diners when eating in as the small, main thoroughfare also doubles up as seating for the deli-bar. read more
