Popped in here for a beer tasting post bike tour and super easy vibes. The staff had our reservation all sorted perfectly. We did a series of flights - got to try many varieties that we otherwise don't have back in the states. Very good. This little place was convenient to the hotel Movenpick and the waterfront. If you can't find a beer here, it doesn't exist. They have a colossal menu. From the tap, the Scheider Weiss and delirium red were our choices. Both were fantastic. We started with the cheese and sausage appetizer that was wonderful. In addition, the chef came around a few times with a delightful smoked sausage and mustard to taste. We also tried the hamburger. This was not what we were expecting or use to. It was more meatloaf/hamburger helper than just an angus beef patty. It was dry and not good. But we would go back for more beer, sausage and cheese. read more

Good rough little pub in an alley off the tourist dining street (don't eat there). Check out Jennekin Pis at the back of the alley on the right. A few outdoor tables host the smokers, or sit inside - plenty of room on several floors. Lots of beers on tap but the menu is minimally informative; ask bartender for recommendations. I love Trappiste ales and was disappointed with the beers - styles were more like what we can get in the U.S., not uniquely Belgian. The cherry brews are sickly sweet like soda - not recommended. All in all, decent little stop for a brew but not the religious experience that I expected. read more

So I was excited to try out the delirium café for a while now. Since I moved really close and decided tonight was the night. I read the reviews before going there. A lot of poor reviews were from a few months ago when they were just opening. From what I read we certainly had the opposite experience. The service was really wonderful and helpful. One of servers in particular was always smiling and helped us with suggestions. It seems they must have ironed out the initial kinks of opening a new bar. As for the food, we tried the goat cheese croquettes with honey dip and they were great. The beer, well you know from other reviews. Around 20 on tap and possibly 500 in bottles. Either way a great selection. I think the bar has finally come into its own and there was a good group of people around to prove it. read more

The key here is to come in a chatty interesting group, because you will have to wait, a lot, to get any kind of service. Or you could do what I saw some (assumedly) regulars do - order 20 glasses of beer so that you don't need to order again! There were a lot of good times had, lots of Dutch snacks and mixed nuts (oh I love those so much!), and of course, diverse beers. To top it, they seemed to have a live band playing some groovy tunes right next to us. All in all, an experience not to be missed. Just come prepared with low expectations for service. The best thing is to just run to the bar and grab hold of a server, because once you do, your order will be brought out fairly quickly. Seating is on the comfortable side; the views are terrific when the weather outside is nice, and there are plenty of dinner options, inside and out, when those beers get to you. Oh about the beers - there's a HUGE selection on the menu. They also have a special deal for 5 beers and associated snacks for a measly price. Can't go wrong with dark beer and chocolate! Prices were decent. Definitely something to be revisited. read more

Loved this place, super cozy space with a cool view! It was a bit tricky to get to with the construction that was going on. Tons of beer and all served in the correct glass. Bartenders were fun but overworked. Even with the small number of people in the bar, 2 bartenders were not enough. Another tip would be to call before you arrive. We got to the bar at 8 pm only to find out that they were closing an hour early even though the website and yelp didn't have that information. Beers were not cheap but you get what you pay for. They have some outstanding beers both made by Delirium and brought in from around the world. This is a must do for any beer fan! Can't wait to come back. read more

The location is amazing but hard to find. It's under the bridge across from the Bimhuis. Near the water. With a lovely terrace. The indoors is very cozy. I can't comment on the table service since we all ordered beers by the bars. The guys on the bar were more than helpful recommending beers (and ciders, YES!!! they have a wide range of ciders! Very disappointed but the place has a lot of potential. When we got there it took us no less than 15 minutes to have a waiter come over and take our order. The place was not even crowded but they just kept passing up all of the tables running back and forth. Finally when our order was taken, it ended up that a lot of beers were not available. Sure there are 500 beers on the menu but that does not mean that actually have 500 beers. More times than not we were told that the beer we wanted was not available. We were there for a total for 3 hours hoping to try a bunch of beers but in the end we only got to try 3 beers (some people in the group less). It was a chore to flag down the waiter each time and even after ordering and him being gone for 5-10 minutes he would come back telling us that the beers we wanted were not there. Then we would repeat and repeat the same process until a beer was finally available. When I went to pay at the end of the night (I walked to the bar because I though this would be faster) even the people at the bar were visibly upset, they also were being ignored by the staff when they tried to order drinks. Again, the place was not crowded at all. I'm thinking that the place simply was not ready to open, they are a new business in Amsterdam and I think (and I hope) that they just opened too soon. Here is why it has potential. The place was really cool inside, nicely decorated and quite large. There was a ton a great outside seating right on the river, and the snacks that we ordered were also pretty good and came in a reasonable amount of time. Try the goat cheese croquets! Also, if all the beers do become available, it would be fun to try a bunch of them. I really was not expecting to give this place such a low rating, but what other choice do I have? I hope to go back sometime in a few weeks/months and be able to change this review after the place has matured a bit. :-( read more

If lots and lots of beers on tap is what you're looking for this is the place. It's an extension of the Delirium Bar in Brussels. The staff is very well informed on the beers enough to be able to recommend one or more to you since there's so many to choose from. As you may have guessed their beer menu is a large binder listing all their beers. It's rather daunting if you don't know your beers. However, if you're an aficionado on beers this is your place. And as I mentioned previously you can always ask the server or bartender what they'd recommend. They have a nice selection of food if you're in the mood for snacks, dinner or a burger. They even have a nice steak you can order. They also have a couple of desserts but I didn't see any apple pie. The bar is relatively new and the location is interesting in that it's on the waterfront under the highway bridge. If you don't know where it is it's easy to get lost. However, if you walk up the highway bridge you'll see a sign by some stairs leading down to the cafe. It looks to be a great location especially during warmer weather. It's spacious inside and there is plenty of outside seating. read more

Terrible. I used to love the original Delirium pub in Brussels, back when it was all about the beer, but something changed in the last few years. That pub took over the entire block expanding to be a monstrous chaotic hang out for people who don't really care about the beer at all and just want to get wasted. Unfortunately the good folks at Delirium have exported their new ideals north. The bar is in a really cool spot and the space itself is great, but this is not all about the beer at all. As others have mentioned they don't have a lot of beers on the menu. The beers they do have are pretty subpar or just kind of boring for the area. The good local favorites are very overpriced. Very overpriced. I saw a lot of Dutch microbrews priced at over 7 euros. Keep in mind that these are brewed in Amsterdam and available anywhere in the city for 4 euros or less. The staff does not know beer and does not know customer service at all. There were plenty of staff on and walking around, but we were constantly waiting, constantly empty looking for someone to take our order. It was not busy. If you did happen to find a server good luck getting them to answer any questions with any sort of knowledge whatsoever....and then after you do decide on something, they probably don't actually have it. Their menu is also a mess. I saw plenty of beers that were miscategorized. To whomever put together the menu- If you see a beer that is 16% its probably not an IPA. Bonus- The "clean" glasses are all sticky with whatever beer was served in them before you got yours poured into it. Do yourself a favor and stop trying to find this place (its not easy). Don't fall for the gimmick that is Delirium Amsterdam. Instead go back to the golden triangle of real beer near Dam square. Beer Temple, Golum and In de Wildemann are all within walking distance of each other, have better beer, more selection of actual beers that you can order, clean glasses and knowledgable staff to help you. There is a huge selection of beer in the main café and that should be your reason to come here because there isn't much else to recommend the place. The decor is not up to much, there is no atmosphere to speak of, the staff are not particularly informative or engaging, it is out of the way and it is far from being the cheapest place to drink. Whatever you do, avoid the bitterballen; order them instead in a café that serves quality bitterballen such as Oma Bobs or Holtkamp. Beside the main café there is a smaller café generally used for private dinners/parties. It can have a bit more atmosphere due to being smaller but the selection of beer is extremely limited thus defeating the whole point of going to a Delirium Café. read more

This place boasts that it has more than 600 variants of beer, so we went in to investigate. True enough, they don't lie - they would bring you a thick folder with a very long bottle list that is probably over 600 (We didn't exactly count it). The place is spacious, the waiters were friendly, but we didn't quite feel like the vibe was nice when we were there, we didn't know why. Maybe because it felt more like a party place than a bar, and maybe there were too many young people hanging out - the kind who drinks Heineken (okay, I'm judging now), but I guess it's kind of alright. If you have higher expectation and appreciation for (craft) beers, head to the more obvious choices like Beer Temple or Craft Beer bar, or Arendsnest. read more

I finally found time to check out the Amsterdam outpost of the famous Belgian Delerium cafe. First of all, the location is nice but in a weird spot. There's only one way to get here (two if you row up on a boat). In winter at night it's kind of creepy to come but I can imagine in the summer it would actually be a really nice outdoor patio to chill on. They're going to be opening a smaller outpost in Amsterdam Centraal soon and that's going to be much more convenient to get to. Secondly, the eternal problem with Delerium is that they CLAIM they have so many beers available, but chances are they probably DON'T have the beer you want. You get this giant menu and you spend time going through it and finding a beer you want, and then when you order it you have a 50% chance of the server returning to tell you that "actually, we're out of that one". It seems like this frustration could be solved by some technology - the servers already take your order on an electronic device so why not just have a tablet or something on/in the table that has an updated and current selection of what they actually have on hand. Then you won't waste hours choosing beers that they don't even have in stock! Other than that, it is fun to come here and try out all sorts of different beers, and I might have to come back in the summer and check out the patio. read more

The beer gets 5 stars, they have some wonderful belgians on draft. The service is great too. The issue is the location, and the design of this place. It's kind of junky in general. If it were a true dive bar the prices would be lower, but it's sort of confused. It works in Brussels since it's older and more established, but not sure about in Amsterdam. read more

Over 700 beers? I didn't believe it until I sat pilfering through the thick binder of options, with extensive descriptions about every one. My boyfriend is a beer connoisseur, so we always gravitate towards bars and restaurants with a worthy selection. Unfortunately I have a wheat allergy preventing me from having it, so I'll take his enthusiasm towards the ones he tried as support for my five star rating. I can say, this place actually had a really good selection of ciders! Which, I have found rarely can be found here the Netherlands. It's actually the first pub we've been to with even one, let alone 10. So, it won my vote! read more

Perhaps it was because we got there right when they opened, but this place was radically different from our experience at their Brussels location. Wide open, spacious, empty, chill. I loved everything about this place. The man assisting us was very accommodating and knew exactly what to suggest. Unfortunately, they didn't have much of a merch selection, but I did get a delicious $17 12 oz. beer to take back to our hotel. Texas Pecan Ice Cream, I believe? It was spectacular. The view from their patio/smoking area was beautiful as well. I would come back here in a heartbeat. read more

One of my favorite places and a MUST go to place. 750+ beers (20ish on tap that I saw) and all incredible. over whelming? yes. Super helpful and friendly beertenders? yes!. First off, everyone in Amsterdam was incredibly nice. Delirium Cafe was the same. Everyone there was so friendly and helpful, it was unreal. It seems like a typical bartender will give you a minute then help someone else, that's understandable. But these guys/gals go over the top to help you. Such badasses. Stefan knows his stuff. There was another gentleman working behind the bar that was super helpful as well. This is a MUST go to place in Amsterdam. Fun atmosphere, best beer selection I have ever seen, great food, badass staff, snd the view is amazing. It is located under the bridge which makes for an excellent place to hang out. Get off of the train, go east, head down the stairs and this hidden gem is right there. I want to fly from the states, back to Amsterdam just to go back to this bar. incredible. 5+ read more

I am so sure I will love it here but I have to wait two hours for it to open after Yelp said it was open at noon. Disappointed already. Could have stayed in the warmth and comfort of the Movenpick. Okay stuck it out on the patio in the cold and rain. That's how sure I was. Did not disappoint at all. I love it here. Tip to all of you who thought the service lacked, I suggest getting here early. This restaurant has over 650 beers available and almost 20 or 30 on tap. The menu is limited but good. We had a delirium hamburger and the beef stew. Both were large and very good. I will be back. read more

You have to work to find this place. It is located under a roadway and next to a canal. Our hotel was across the way and we still could not see it. Once we found it the atmosphere was great. Lots of beers to choose from, but service is terrible. Usually the service is just slow but we can live with that. Today, however, things where different. A group of about eight friends from work, all polite, quiet, well-behaved, went for a couple of beers (read two, no more), and as we were going to pay, the bartender said he would only accept payment if we split the bill equally. One of my friends didn't accept this and argued assertively (but politely) with the bartender that he should only pay for what he drank for, and that the bartender could not say things such as "I decide how you guys pay". Eventually, after a couple of minutes, one of us decides "Never mind, I'll pay for all of it". As he was paying I politely asked to speak to the bartender to let him know that I really like the place and it was a shame he was having such a posture. That we understand he was busy, but that he cannot force people to pay the way he wants it. So another customer pokes me in the arm and starts calling us "bitches, entitled bitches" and kept at it. I asked the bartender if I was being rude or bothering him, and he said no. The other customer continues insulting us. Before I leave, I finally tell the other customer that if he wants to keep insulting us, he should come outside. Another bartender then decides to grab me and push me outside shouting that I shouldn't threaten his customers and to never set foot there again. Apparently, we can be called bitches over and over again, and if we try to reply, we're the bad guys. Indeed, I'm not going there ever again. read more
