We were a group of eight friends gathering for a show at the Delray Beach Playhouse. The show started at 4 PM. We went to see Queen Lives; it was fantastic, and we all loved it. There is not a bad seat in the house. The Playhouse is located in a residential neighborhood on Lake Ida. Prior to the Show we sat outside and enjoyed the cool breeze overlooking the lake and the speedboats riding by. It was a delightful experience all around. During the year they offer subscriptions for each season, including shows, plays, musicals, for all ages. This particular show was a sellout. The group had been there before and they were asked to return because the reviews were so excellent. I agree and so did everyone in my party. The chairs are comfortable and it is handicapped accessible for people with wheelchairs, scooters or walkers. It's a very relaxed atmosphere with free parking. read more

I recently attended the Playwrights' Horizon event and was so pleasantly surprised by the experience. I was already familiar with two of the playwrights, which made it even more enjoyable. The evening featured several short plays, each about 15 minutes long, with a 20-minute intermission in between. After the performances, the playwrights came on stage for a Q&A session, which gave the audience a chance to hear about their creative process and ask questions. It was a wonderful addition to the evening. I'm usually away this time of year, so this was my first opportunity to attend, and I'm so glad I did. The tickets were also very reasonably priced, making it an excellent value for a night of live theater. I hope to make this an annual tradition and will definitely be back next year! read more

I've seen several shows here over the years. The venue is in a park on a lake in the middle of a posh residential neighborhood. There are two theaters and not a bad seat in the house. Most of the shows are good, but feel like community theater. On Sunday, we saw Something Rotten. The costumes were wonderful, every actor had a great voice and the tap dancing was first rate. It was hard to believe that most of the cast, as per the playbill, have not been in any major productions. If you can, go see this show. There is a parking lot, but it's not big enough and you may have to park on the grass. read more

Very cute venue that you should check out if you like community theatre. Tons of parking and decently comfortable seats. The only odd thing was that the small bottle of Sutter Home was what we received for $10 and they did not give us a glass so we had to sip it out of this little plastic bottle. Coke see the play and support the local people that are amazingly talented but maybe skip the wine. read more

The theater is relatively small, in a lovely area of Delray Beach, looking out onto Lake Ida.. The seating was comfortable. The crowd was mainly seniors, aged 70+. The performer was Tony Danza, and the stage easily accommodated his musicians, and their equipment. The men's toilet was clean. One major complaint was the auditorium was not cool enough. It was stuffy, with little to no air circulation. Tony Danza was sweating profusely, you could see it dripping down his face. Perhaps management keeps it warmer because some attendees complain about environments which bare too cool, but a compromise should be struck. Or these attendees can bring sweaters or light jackets, and the rest who are not cold will enjoy well circulated, cool air. read more

Great little stage area. Limited seating but that means every seat is good. We sat in the last row M1 and 2 and could see and hear great. This was Hollywood Yates doing a Toby Keith tribute. Nice 4 piece band called the Dirty Peso's. 1 Keyboard 2 on guitars and one on drums. He performance was great. Place is nice and clean. Fair amount of parking. read more

Visited Delray play house to see Chorus line. The theater is great. I was dotted in the (4)th raw. The lights were blinding against the mirror background. I did not enjoy this production much. read more

What a cool little venue! I'm gonna be honest, it's a long and winding road through a neighborhood to get here and you'll probably think you're lost but trust the process. There's not a bad seat in the house, and they've even got a little concession stand. The audiences here do tend toward the older crowd but they've got a great variety of shows. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE. It heaven has an annex than Delray Beach Playhouse is the upper tier. The performances are wonderful and the acting and directing is superb. It is a class act from start to finish. The playhouse also has history and a pedigree that defies age and patronage. Some of the greatest talent and greatest philanthropy have graced the front door. Theater We were given tickets to a show at the Delray Beach Playhouse and headed over to see Italian Bred on a Friday evening. The theater is located on Lake Ida which in and of itself, is tucked back off the beaten path in Delray - this is a whole other part of Delray that the touristas just do not see. The theater is small and well maintained. Manned by super-helpful people who are happy to see you and cheerfully greet you when you arrive. We got there a little early and walked the grounds for a few minutes then headed in. The well lit lobby area has some seats scattered around and a small snack bar set up where you can get little bottles of wine and some candies. I did not see anything more elaborate to eat, nor did I ask if they had anything else. Off to the left of the lobby, there is a large patio area where most everyone waits prior to the curtain. While waiting we met some very nice folks who were, for the most part, from NY and we had a nice time chatting with them until it was time to get seated. The theater is small and on one level - with this kind of set up, all seats are good seats. The stage is, like the theater itself, on the small side and I believe you will get some very intimate performances here. Sound system was very good with no distortion. The seats were in very god shape and comfortable enough that we did not feel cramped for the two hours we were seated. All in all, a very good experience and we got on the mailing list os we can attend more performances in the future. Parking lot is much larger than needed for the theater which was a nice touch. Prices are average for a playhouse experience. Give it a shot! Pro-tip Eat before or after the show - there is nothing nearby in the way of restaurants. read more

Theater was empty and it was a shame A Dolls House Part 2 was amazing the four actors we're fabulous the playwright was excellent and you would really enjoy it if you know a little about A Dolls House this play takes place 15 years latter premise was very interesting read more

Went to see Drew Anthony in The Dean Lives Show at Delray Beach Playhouse last night. REMARKABLE. He sounds exactly like Dean and looks just like Dean handsome and sauve. UNBELIEVABLE You don't have to close your eyes to think it's Dean singing. Keep them open and just look at him. it will take you right back to the Dean Martin years. Can't believe I thought I was back in time. The cast he had with him were terrific. There was Marilyn Monroe, Peggy Lee, Johnny Carson, Jerry Lewis and the wonderful gentleman that told the story about Dean as he was sweeping the stage. Really an ensemble put together with such talent. Dean Lives you can tell was put together with a lot of brilliance and a lot of love. very well done. Drew you are Dean Martin and I'm sure if Dean was alive he would say everyone has a double and you are his. BRAVO!!!!! ITALY!! read more

What's not to like here. It's a small theatre in a very quaint neighbourhood. I found the venue to be very organized with everyone wearing masks when asked...none of that Miami attitude going on at all. Went to see a comedian last night that was great (Joe Devito). Restroom areas were super clean and the box office was no issue getting tickets or will call. It's a small theatre with just enough seating to keep that hometown feel to it. Small concession area but will do the trick. Nice lobby with comfortable seating areas. Plenty of free parking and handicap parking. read more

This venue has been in existence for 50 years now, so why hadn't I heard of it until this year? It's a beautiful, cozy little theater right on Lake Ida. Very easy to park and walk inside. This year I saw a few tribute shows, the latest of which was a John Denver tribute with Rick Schuller. Fantastic! They have a very nice lineup for the coming year. Can't wait to get some tickets. I live in West Palm Beach and always have to use Google Maps to find the theater. It's in a very cute residential area. Try it next season and you'll definitely want to go back! Saw The Sensuous Senator at this hidden gem theater tucked into a park by Lake Ida. True, their ticketing is still 19th century analog ticketing and the crowd is largely snow vultures BUT if you let all that deter you from seeing this or other shows you are foolish, because this is a wonderful, intimate theater and the show was as good as any off Broadway production that I've seen. Far better than a lot of the community theaters in the area too. Which is probably why their performances regularly sell out. GO and check it out. The current show was a great laugh! read more
