I recently visited DeLuke Dermatology for the first time; this was my first-ever visit to *any* dermatologist so I wasn't sure what to expect and was somewhat nervous about my visit until I walked into the building. The waiting area is very bright and welcoming, and everything is so clean - a wonderful first impression that says 'details matter here' and made me feel like my care will be stellar. The receptionist was very friendly and welcoming. Shortly after arriving (hardly any wait time), I met Dr. Ashley Knavel. She performed a small procedure on me. Now, the procedure itself is not a pleasant one but Dr. Knavel made it bearable and worked quickly and carefully to complete it. It certainly wasn't my favorite part of my day but she did a superb job and was very gentle. I hope to never need this procedure again, but if I do: I'd go back to see Dr. Knavel. I did read the reviews here on Yelp - you should probably disregard *all* reviews prior to 2022. When I was in the office, I learned that this location (353 Kenmore Ave, in Tonawanda) used to belong to *another* dermatologist and that DeLuke Dermatology acquired the space a few years ago when that dermatologist retired, and even expanded the space. It is my understanding that this location has a completely new staff from the staff that was here prior to 2022. Which makes sense because everyone I spoke with or was helped by was very pleasant. Dr. Paolini is absolutely amazing! Her care and compassion are above and beyond my expectation. I have had a skin "rash" for years that no doctor could figure out until I met Dr. Paolini. She took a biopsy and when it came back with no conclusive results, she told them to take a deeper dive and found out exactly what was going on. I was "treated" here for three years for a suspicious red spot above my eyebrow the size of a pencil eraser. Each treatment; 3 freezings, cream etc made the spot bigger. At no point was it biopsied until I asked for one. It was cancer and they referred me to a surgeon. Yesterday my surgical procedure involved excision of a quarter coin size area of cancer that had not(thank God) reached the bone. I needed a skin graft and over 20 stitches I'm left with a wicked scar and no eyebrow. Most importantly, Deluke threatened my health. They must not know about "First do no harm". ONE ISSUE PER APPOINTMENT POLICY If you have multiple concerns such as moles, dry skin, sun damage, and / or acne, this is NOT the practice for you. The office policy is that you can only be seen for ONE CONCERN PER VISIT. I called to schedule an appointment for a mole check and dry scalp, and the receptionist told me I could only schedule 1 thing per appointment. This means that I would have to schedule his mole check this time (he has 2 moles on his entire body) and then schedule a separate appointment for his dry scalp. To put this ridiculous policy to the test, during my annual visit (mole check), I was asked if I had any concerns. I said, "Yes, I have developed a little acne on my jaw line, and I would like some information on lightening up the sun damage on my face." The doctor completely ignored me as if I had never said anything. This is not an exaggeration. She looked me straight in the eyes, then turned around and said nothing. I don't blame her for avoiding answering because this is a ridiculous policy, and she's just an employee. The policy of not asking about other family members is absolutely understandable, but i am a mom of multiple toddlers, and my insurance policy is $80 per appointment per person. I don't have time or money for this practice. I loved the staff, but I've already scheduled a new patient appointment for my entire family at a different dermatologist. Hopefully the new one won't try to milk the insurance companies and their co-paying patients for every nickel and dime. I now know what it is like to be wrung out like a wet cloth until not a drop is left. read more

My husband called to make an appointment for a ganglion cyst on his right wrist. They asked him specifically why he was making the appointment and asked for his health insurance information. They verified his insurance and scheduled the appointment. He went in at 9:30am and left at 9:40 am. He was charged a copay and was told by Dr. "JP" that they didn't treat that problem. As he was leaving the office it dawned on me that he had told them what the problem was when he originally made the appt. When my husband checked in, the front desk asked him if it was his right wrist that he was there for. They charged him for something that they knew they didn't treat!!!! I called my Insurance Co. and told them what had happened, and they informed me that this Dr. was out of network. So they verified our insurance, didn't tell me that we were out of network and didn't treat him. read more

Amazing experience from start to finish. When I walked in I was greeted right away and my insurance situation was explained to me and how the whole process will work. They were patient with my questions and my concerns about the cost. I was called back so quickly that I didn't have time to finish my paperwork (I expected to be sitting there for an hour with the 4:15 appointment as I know that other places have the domino effect). Luckily they let me finish my paperwork afterwards. The PA was so knowledgeable she answered my questions without hesitation and went into details to explain. Very rude front desk workers. I was exactly 15 min late due to two accidents on my way over, one on the 290, and another on detour that i had to take in an effort to get there on time. I had an unpleasant experience at this location today. I had a 10.30am appointment; I showed up on time, paid my co-pay ($15), and started to wait. I waited, waited, and waited. There have been other patients who came after me, saw the doctor, and left; all while I was waiting. I reminded the front desk staff two times that my appointment was at 10.30 and they said I'll be seen shortly in both times. Then finally, at 11.10, a staff member showed up, called my name, and said that I'll have to wait even more. I again mentioned that my appointment was at 10.30, and have been waiting for 40 minutes already. And then she said "You can either reschedule or leave". Surprised with her rudeness, and trying to give her another chance, I asked her if she would continue waiting after 40 mins or even care to reschedule. She again said "You can reschedule or leave". Then I said "Ok, I'm leaving". So, today DeLuke Dermatology charged me for a visit that did NOT happen, made me wait 40 mins, and told me to leave in a super-rude way. I'm sure NYS Department of Health would like to hear more about this incident. read more

I was referred here by my immunologist. I have a challenging case of CSU. My immunologist couldn't get it under control for me. I met with Lauren 12/23. I showed her pictures of what I have been dealing with since June 2021. It was like a breath of fresh air for me. She listens to me, isn't afraid to try different treatments to give me my life back. She's the only one who also decided to look at my biopsy results, study them and help me understand what I am currently dealing with. So the person at the desk is the face of your buisness- the arrogant ,self indulgent ignorant twit at this desk - at the office told me and two other clients passing through the doors , exchanging pleasantries and compliments regarding our gear - informed us "we could not talk politics in the office " wait - what ????? We weren't. Totally disrespectful of their patients' time. Showed up 10 minutes early to an appointment and was told the wait would be at least an hour. Had to be 5 minutes down the road 45 minutes after my appointment and they told me that wasn't possible. They were at least 4-5 patients behind. Ran my errand, came back to the office 30 minutes later to find everyone on a lunch break!!!!! Seriously!!! If I am running behind or have an emergency situation at work I work through my lunch until the issue is resolved! Very unprofessional!! I'm so disappointed. I waited 3 months to get an appointment as a new patient. I had a few issues I wanted to talk about and was told I "needed to schedule another appointment or could talk about the other issues at my three month follow up". I was with the doctor for no more than 7 minutes. She didn't bother to look at any of my issues other than a 4 second "peak" of a small patch of achne on my face. I told her about issues on the back of my legs and she literally did not ask to even check it out. I have never been in a doctors office for such a short time with zero answers. I have not seen a derm for over 10 years. I finally decided to talk to a provider about my skin concerns. I am also a provider myself. The provider I saw diminished my concerns for my skin complaints telling me that there is nothing wrong with my skin...all people suffer from black heads and large pores. I was told "glass skin" is not realistic...I had never mentioned anything about " glass skin"...or Korean beauty standards. Felt the provider was saying this specifically as I am Asian (not korean). The information she provided me was not impressive by any means. I was told K would be prescribed a topical for a rash on my hand....no scripts sent to my pharmacy even after a week. Front staff desk were not polite when I called about the miss script saying "I don't know what you're talking about...are you sure you were prescribed something". Staff never called back. read more

Horrible customer service. I had to ask to speak to a doctor when I got my test results, doctor didn't even plan to speak to me. Then I called multiple times a week later for my test results and they want to call me at 4pm with unclear results, then discharge me as a patient. Well I'm sorry that you gave a diagnoses so far in advance and had me go to testing and had me frantic about something that can be life-threatening. So rude too. I can't believe it. I reached out to this office, in search of having a chemical peel after researching its benefits. I contacted their office and scheduled a consultation. Once there, I did NOT meet with one of the licensed Dermatologist but met with an Aesthetician (a person who is knowledgeable about the nature and appreciation of beauty, especially in art). I didn't feel that I should be concerned but now given my complaint; I should have requested that consultation with one of the two licensed professionals. I told the Aesthetician that I wanted to achieve a peel of the skin, and she suggested a Jessner's Peel (due to it being more effective for those with darker complexions) and was advised of the reactions. I agreed and scheduled the procedure. A week later I went into the office where I was given an ambiguous waiver to sign seconds prior to the procedure. As I was skimming over what I was about to sign, the Aesthetician briefly explained what I was signing. She then applied the Jessner's Chemical Peel to my face, and had given me a fan to aid with the effects of a stinging sensation that I did not experience. The whole procedure was quicker than I viewed any procedure online; which mine lasted only five minutes. To make this long story short, I did NOT have any of the described reactions that I was advised of during my consultation. After reaching out to their office, I was only encouraged to keep returning for more visits to see results. I expressed my concerns days following the procedure and was encouraged by the owner of this clinic, to call back if I had not seen any results. Once I called back four days later, I was then told something different from my consultation with the Aesthetician; which was that "the chemical peels work internally." The individual that I spoke too advised me that I should've had a Laser Peel instead of a chemical peel. I was totally disheartened when I learned this. If I had met with one of the licensed Dermatologist, all of my expectations would've been adequately addressed. Deluke Dermatology's only resolution to my concerns was to keep returning, and fork out $125.00 or more for ineffective procedures, and encourage the "wait & see" effect. ("I Shall NOT!) If you look up videos of Chemical Peels, the majority of the individuals show that their skin is peeling/ shedding dead skin. "Deluke, You Need To Do Better!" read more

This office has terrible communication. The first thing that bothered me is that I had to go out of my way to get in touch with someone to get my test results. When I finally spoke to a human (not a million answering machines), the lady was very unclear of what I tested positive for. Additionally, I've been trying to get a refill on my prescription for two days now and have yet to hear anything from the doctor or nursing staff. I think there are many other places in the Buffalo area that could provide better service. read more

This office is terrible. Very difficult to reach anyone over the phone. I had paperwork sent in so that I could purchase an at home phototherapy machine and they sat on the paperwork for almost a month and let it sit in my file since they "didn't know what it was for" despite there being a detailed description and a follow up message giving clear instructions. Then I wasn't even informed that I would need to be seen again in order for the paper work to be filled out, I had to find that out after having another healthcare professional call in and inquire about my paperwork (the person who sent it over in the first place). I have other complaints but it's too much to type here, this one is just the latest. Overall I have been less than happy with this office and that is quite the understatement. There seems to be only one staff person (a lovely receptionist who has been very sweet and helpful) there who actually does their job. read more

Terrible service from the staff and the doctor Dr. DeLuke. First of all you are never able to get through, you always have to leave multiple messages before receiving a return phone call. The staff is rude and short with you. Then I received Botox Injections, which is covered through my insurance however the doctor made me pay upfront for them then ran the claim through my insurance to get paid again, which is considered balance billing, which is considered illegal per her contract with the insurance company. So I called for my money back. Then they called me to cancel my next appointment and said per their "new" policy they are not doing buy and bill anymore. Well guess they don't know what that means because that is not what we did (I work for an insurance company). Will never go back there or refer anyone to the office! read more

The second the woman answered the phone she was short with me and had an attitude. All she asked was what insurance I had and she put me on hold for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes I gave up.
