Meh.
This looked like it was a beautiful hotel back in the '60s and '70s. The rooms have not been significantly updated since then (except the bathrooms) and the vintage nature of the technology is very evident. There is one outlet in the bedroom, under the main desk. I had to crawl on the floor with my cell phone flashlight to use it, and it started giving off an electrical smell when I plugged in an adaptor. This is one of those places that makes a CPAP user cringe because you have to start moving furniture and crawling around the floor to find a damned outlet. Add to this awful beds and a musty, cigarette smoke smell mixed with flowery chemical deodorizer, and it made for a night of fitful sleep. Plus, the shower configuration leaks water in puddles all over the floor. And no soap!
All in all, the worst hotel we stayed at in Europe so far. Old, dingy, and outdated. The people were fairly friendly, and the service wasn't bad, but they need to switch from electronics that aren't older than I am. The bar in the lobby looks clean and brand new though--maybe they figure that if you drink enough, you won't care how bad your room is. read more
