Management (Atlas) is unprofessional, useless, and horrible. They are controlling the tenants in the ways of charging us for every single thing, not asking for our opinions before making decisions and changes that affect us, the people who inhabit the building. For instance, recently, management decided to switch over the amenity system to mindbody app (amenity members are paying extra $125/mo), in which they are charging us $1.00 to make the switch. Mind you, with 1000 units in the building, they are making money off of us to change systems. No prior warning or notice was given that they were switching. It is a forced change and charge and if you don't switch over, you don't get your amenity access. Another example, while the game room and kitchen used to be accessible at general hours, now is locked. Now, you have to reserve, only 1 hour at a time, to be able to access these spaces. For all the events that they promised amenity-paying members, they now charge $10-20 per event! hahaha. All the events used to be free with the prior management as a perk for being an amenity member. Another unprofessional example, they sent out about 5 reminders to tip the building staff over the holidays, to a point it was a bit excessive. Only one reminder is enough. Prior to the Atlas management switch, I paid a one-time bike storage fee ($50), where I was told it would cover me for my whole lease and upon lease renewal, it was a selling point. Nope, once Atlas took over, I am charged $10/month for bike storage. Washer/Dryer rental is $75/month. A dull, droning noise started vibrating through my walls last night, enough that I needed to wear earplugs and that didn't block out the noise. I had heard work being done during the day, and no notice was given about construction being done on the building. I spoke with management, and they are trying to gaslight me saying that they don't know of any work being done. I literally spoke to the workers who directed me to talk to the management to find out what type of work is being done. Don't sign a lease here, don't live here. It's only going to get worse. read more

The parking is a mess which is managed by Laz. They are disorganized. Give you different prices and are very shady in how they manage the operations. They give you only 1 month of reasonable pricing, then they make sure you pay 350 even if you do not use vale services. Check the prices and then ask them how the proceed after the second money. Really disappointing and just this service brings down the whole experience at this building. I hope they get better service to manage the garage , The employees try to help but the disorganization and predatory charges are just part of the business model. read more

Don't move here! If I could give them 0 stars, I would do it! Sure the building looks great and the amenities are lovely but the management staff is the absolute worse and those amenities come with a lot of scams! I will start by saying the onsite staff is amazing! They're all kind, attentive, and professional. Aside from them, our leasing agent was great and is the reason we moved here instead of The Rheingold just down the street. We've been here for about 9 months and when we first moved in, we had several issues. Our dishwasher water wasn't draining properly and our Bluetooth speaker wasn't installed properly so we couldn't connect to it (this was a major selling factor for us as we love playing music and having it through the apartment speakers is lovely). Mind you the apartment was brand new! During the pandemic, tenants throughout the building were charged for amenities that were all closed. Instead of turning off the fees as most luxury buildings did, they chose to charge everyone and promised refunds which many people still haven't received. They also laid off most of the staff so I'm not sure where this money is going. Aside from that, the management team is very unprofessional. Miri, whom I assume is one of the executives is extremely rude and unresponsive. We'll be seeking legal action! read more

I recently just moved from the is apartment complex so my experience living here for two and half years was good the first six months after that it went from good and exciting, to somewhat of a nightmare. Last summer a man was killed on the property. Then tenant that lived next door to me was a gay guy who had orgy parties late night. Most of the time people let their dogs use the bathroom in the smoke area leavingit to smell like pee. The amenities you pay for don't ever really work in the building. If you have a car don't use their garage neither you'll be paying for you that someone else can go park in. Plus the homeless always be over there in the back in the between the buildings or in the smoke area digging in the trash on the ashtray. read more

Do not move in here. The building has severe roach issues. I have been dealing with exterminators for months and it is not getting better. we are actually releasing an article about this so the public is aware as we are paying top dollar to live in Bushwick which is out of line. It is absolutely wild and the management will not compensate us just keeps looking for excuses. The Building has been bankrupt and amenities are also neglected...The building simply is hurting and has no funds. They even asked tenants to pay $1 fee for the new system Mind Body we have to switch to for amenity service requests. This real-estate project was a massive failure from the founders and new ownership just can't keep up with it. It's a constant battle. The staff here hates their life as well and are very much underpaid and underworked. Most of the tenants move out after a year because they do not like the management's poor service and attention to detail. On a side note...we are paying amenity fees and the outdoor jacuzzis still haven't been activated since they opened. I've lived here now for 11 months and, contrary to a few of the negative reviews below, have had an awesome experience. (I think it's definitely the small minority of unhappy people who feel compelled to write those kind of reviews.) There are many terrific things about this building, including especially the views. I have an amazing panorama from my exterior-facing window of the NYC skyline. Yet, even if you have an interior courtyard view, the enormous walk-around roof offers a panoramic 365 degree views of Manhattan and Brooklyn. It's always a huge "Wow!" moment whenever I have even the most jaded New Yorkers over to visit. The amenities are extraordinary--and this is coming from someone who left a very fancy, luxury building on the UWS. For example, the gym is incredible, complete with rock climbing wall and boxing ring (both of which are not my thing but appreciate having them there.) It is true that the pool looks astonishingly great but isn't opened yet despite a vague "soon we hope" promises when I moved in. That's disappointing since I am a swimmer but I get that it's about the basic fact that construction in NYC always takes about twice as long as people think. On the other hand, the fitness classes that do exist--and I regularly take five a week, from yoga to HIIT to spin-- are all quite excellent. Even my old UWS building did not offer that. This is also by far the most dog-friendly building I've ever lived in. I have a chocolate lab and in my previous UWS building although she was loved by all the staff, it was a challenge getting her approved by the board because she wasn't a tiny thing. The Denizen is perfect for her with a roof walk that allows us to do an easy lap or two, shielded a bit from the wind (at her level), and with a small dog run if she's feeling social. If you have a dog, this is the perfect environment. Re: other complaints in reviews below.... There has been some turnaround with staff, especially when I first moved in, but there's a solid core of EXCELLENT front desk people who are reliable and friendly and have been around for most of the time I've been here. Having someone running package room has been invaluable for me. Also, I'm very noise sensitive and that has not been a problem at all. It's possible I've really lucked out and gotten very quiet neighbors but I never hear anything that would disturb me. (Same with smells etc....not sure how you "smell-proof" a building, anyway.) Re: the management... It's true that when I moved in the washer / dryer wasn't installed but that arrived within two days. The other handful of problems I've had (two smoke detectors suddenly becoming defective on two different occasions and beeping non-stop, an electrical outlet not working properly) were all fixed very quickly. I'm lucky enough (meaning I pay more $$$) to have one of the few dozen apartments with a terrace but it is absolutely worth it. If that's something that appeals to you and it's in your budget, this is an enormous opportunity at a fraction of NYC costs. Having coming from a relatively parallel situation with a terrace on the UWS, I can say that I actually prefer this building in terms of look and feel. As a design-obsessed person, I couldn't be happier. Also, the public spaces are spectacular and unique. See the photo below of one of the lobby areas. Finally, there's Bushwick itself which is right at your feet. I love that there are still interesting edges here, real graffiti and grit on the street, yet also cool coffee shops and hangouts, amazing restaurants and bars, and chic vintage stores everywhere. DO NOT MOVE HERE! Wish I read these reviews ahead of time. They are spot on. The place is a scam. They will lure you in with the rooftop and the amenities, but since I've lived here only HALF of the amenities are actually available, and they still charge the full $100. Management is nearly impossible to get ahold of. Parking for $300 ON TOP of the amenities fee is insane. There is some fishy stuff with the electric bill. We never used the heat or A/C yet our bill fluctuated from $70 to $280 with no change in what we were using. A neighbor said his bill was over $700! The management was rude when we brought up that concern. They tried to sell us on our unit being a 2BR apartment, but it's really a tiny 1BR with a flex room that just has a crummy sliding door. The walls are paper thin, dogs barking all day, and you can see very easily into other people's apartments so there's. a lack of privacy. I love dogs, but they let the dogs shit all over the roof and right in front of the building. Nothing is done about it. The gym is definitely nice, no complaints there, but for all the lying they did the cost is truly not worth it here. read more

Really beautiful apartments if you get a city view. We have a one bedroom looking at the city. New apartments with no mice or cockroaches. Amenities are great but $100 per person and not all working. On site staff is generally very nice and helpful. The issue is management. There is a cigarette smoking issue in the building. On an internal building messaging system there are daily messages asking neighbors to stop smoking inside. These messages have been going on for over a year with little to zero action from management. The vents feed into each other and if your neighbor four doors down or upstairs/downstairs smokes, you're smelling it when you sleep, get ready for work, eat your lunch. read more

I would never rent here again. The smartmanagement team is a mess. They messed up our bill many times and are continually charging us for amenities we cannot use when we are 1. IN A PANDEMIC and 2. IN A FINANCIAL CRISIS Oh by the way, only half the amenities are actually available and that was prepandemic. After emailing the smartmanagement team several times. They have now opened up the amenities and are now charging us again for the amenities. If I am not going to use the amenities because of COVID why should I have to pay for them? This building and the people that live here are absolutely beautiful and the building staff is so kind and do an amazing job. That said, the building management is an absolute nightmare to deal with. I should have known what I was getting into when they didn't even contact me the day my lease started I had to reach out to them a few days later, that's just unacceptable. Then when I took a tour of the building, the leasing agent couldn't even answer basic questions about the building. Atlas Capital has turned what could have been a beautiful community into a multi-tier subscription model and they've tried multiple times to cut back amenities only to be reinstated after tenant backlash. Every single thing in the building is locked to a fob that you have to pay for pretty much everything extra on top of the extremely high rent and they took rooms that used to be open for all residents and locked them without our knowledge and the residents here are not happy about it. Trying to reason with management is a lost cause, they only see us as dollar signs and treat us like children. I would give one star, but the building really is amazing. Atlas Capital needs to return this building to the residents. read more

I swear to you, do not apply here, as per the 1star reviews below. They will approve you regardless of your salary because they're desperately trying to fill empty units. They'll make you sign an option agreement to take a unit off the market but after approval, which will happen, you won't have a choice but to sign the lease or lose the money you put down for a down payment because after you're approved, you can't change your mind about signing. I'm not a resident here but I almost was. I didn't do my job to research as a potential resident until after I put my money down to take a unit off the market. After touring the building and viewing almost 10 units (one was a model, the rest were empty/under construction to convert the unit into 2 bedrooms- THEY'RE ALL CONVERTED), I was eager to put a down payment down so I did. No lie, the place looks amazing. It's filled with nice shared spaces such as the rooftop and the basement with their breweries, and etc. But then out of curiosity, I looked up reviews to this place and found myself horrified by some terrible reviews. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt but I couldn't after one of the reviews wrote to "message them for evidence or more information". I got in contact with them and basically I refused to sign the lease, which in turn forfeited my down payment. I really wanted to live here because I believed I could be happy living there with all of the shared spaces so it's sad to see that this couldn't pan out but couldn't bring myself to live in a unsafe place. Also, after you're approved, your email is automatically signed up to their current bulletin board. I've already seen multiple emails by residents asking other residents to keep the noise down past 11pm. I've seen a resident complain about blasting music at ungodly hours -6am. If you don't believe me, believe that you won't be able to sleep here if you're sensitive to noise and thin walls. Apply to apartments that are true proper two bedrooms. This place isn't worth it. On month ten now. I've had to purchase a noise machine and crank it up every night in order to sleep. Despite that, at 4:00 AM recently, I awoke in an absolutely terrifying way - over my blaring noise machine - to the sounds of my awful neighbor literally breaking down his door by body-slamming it multiple times until it broke open. Awful neighbor also trashed my doormat and doorstep a few weeks back with some gross red substance. Management promised me months ago that they would evict him. Instead, they now refuse to answer any of my emails... including reports of the above! I've emailed five times over the past two months and have received exactly zero responses. I've never in my life lived in such a horrible environment. Spare yourself the nightmare and live somewhere - anywhere - else. Also, building management keeps posting fake positive reviews. Google/Yelp take them down when I report them, but building management just posts more under different aliases. On month 6 of a 12 month lease and I just wanted to say that I love living here. Contrary to the posts below, I don't have any problems with noise or management. It's a huge improvement from my old Murray Hill apartment, and my dog has never been happier! The application process is about as tricky as any other real estate deal in NYC. Read the terms and conditions carefully, ask for second opinions, and above all don't feel pressured to rush your way through or you'll be out a couple thousand in holding fees if you decide to walk. Be sure you understand any sign on bonus they offer and calculate a budget accordingly. Most of management is handled via an app, so it's "hassle free" although you may have to wait a bit more than you're used to for an answer. The electronic billing process is easy and paperless and it looks like they are improving functionality on the portal. Maintenance requests are super simple and Placido, the super, is the BEST. Building events hosted frequently are mostly free to residents. John, the man in charge of the events is always cordial and welcoming. You can be as involved in the community as you want! Be warned, it's a pretty young building. Social events abound. And why not? It's such a gorgeous building that it makes sense to show it off and use the space. I host most of my friend gatherings now. And with Bluetooth speakers in unit, counter space upgrade, and plenty of common space to choose from, entertaining has never been easier. I'm a small gathering kind of gal so I've never had to rent out the spaces (required for over 5 people) which can be pretty pricy. Dogs are so welcome in building and I've had such a good time socializing my old gal slowly with the other puppers in the building. That said, if you're expecting peace, quiet, and relaxation every night starting at 10pm, find another building. (Maybe in upstate LIC, Queens, or the upper east side) I live on the 7th floor, and loudness does happen, but not nearly enough that I feel the need to post about it. (Except that one time the noise coming from the roof was so loud I had to investigate. It was a fire. It was taken care of lightning fast by management.) The sleep schedule required by my 9-5 has gone unchallenged for 6 months. If anything, maybe avoid the 4th floor since most posts seem to come from there. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is kind of my problem. Amenities are everywhere, but a lot of them, roof top garden, cafe, pet spa, no doubt the lounge are higher end add ons. Aka if you're income is not in the 120k range or up, you won't be able to take full advantage of all the stuff all the time. But with the right budget, like cafe breakfast once a month instead of every day, it's totally worth it to be able to feel like I'm coming home every day. Kerri called my boyfriend today to try the SAME scam to attempt to collect a fake debt. She said the same thing (we saved the voicemail and contacted the city about the fraud) that he owed $2835 on a unit we do not live in. When he told her that we don't owe that, we don't live there and they returned our deposit to us in august and so what is this about? She couldn't say what the charge was for, she couldn't offer an itemization of the charge and when he pressed her she said the same thing she told me "oops! I see the balance is zero!" We were super excited about this place. It seemed very cool from the outside. Once we moved in, we had loud music blasting through our walls almost every night. Cigarette smoke coming in through our heater vents that we sometimes chose to wear coats indoors so that we don't inhale the smoke during the pandemic. The music blasted by our neighbor is so loud that we can hear the lyrics to her songs throughout the evenings as we try to sleep. We were paying overpriced rent to live in a dorm-house like building. The amenities are an additional fee on top of rent ($150 for both buildings) and definitely not worth it. It's NOT a building for families or for people who are seeking peace, quiet and rest. Getting out of here ASAP. read more

The Apartments: - Very thin walls: odors and sounds from neighboring apartments are a constant way of life. - Cheap appliances: dishwashers that don't fully dry dishes, sinks that don't drain fully, toilets that don't flush well and speakers in walls that sound static-y to name a few. - Fly problem: Flies are a common problem in the building. - Loud Neighbors: the crowd the building attracts leads to neighbors who are constantly partying and dogs barking. This in conjunction with thin walls make sleeping or enjoying a quiet evening in problematic at times. I had to purchase industrial strength ear plugs (Seriously). - Hall Odors: garbage room smells permeate into the halls and into apartment sometimes. Also I hope you like the smell of marijuana because you are going to smell it everywhere. Amenities: - Fluctuating pricing: price of amenities have gone up $50 a month since moving in. - Outdoor furniture falling apartment: most of the outdoor future is falling apartment after only a year.Chairs are rusting, hammocks are ripping, ping pong tables are rusting over. - Indoor Parking is a joke: Cars get blocked in, paint splattered and scratched and dinged and you get the privilege of paying $300 a month for it. - Mini-golf is mostly decorative: Mini-golf is rusting over and poorly designed. The way the lighting is installed make playing the game next to impossible. - Grills are broken: The grills on the rooftop were a major feature when seeing the building originally but after a year of use they are all broken in various ways. The size of the building also leads to situations where 20 people are competing for one of the two working grills. - Ever shrinking guest policy: When moving in each apartment was able to have 5 guests using the amenities. After a year the new policy is 2 guests and certain amenities require a guest pass of $25 a day. This is on top of the $100 a month amenity fee each tenant must pay. - Incomplete: Some amenities said to be finished in January 2019 are no where near completion now (September 2019). A shame when these amenities were used as a selling point on marketing material for the building. Management: - Unresponsive: Management is unresponsive to emails, taking days or even weeks responding to messages relayed to them through their contact email which is the only way that tenants are given to contact management. - Cheapskates: The building is understaffed and stretched very thin. The front desk staff is often forced to run around the buildings and leaving long wait times for packages and drop offs. - Unhelpful: Management has a very antagonistic relationship with tenants from my own interactions and the interactions with other tenants I've spoken with around the building. They aren't there to help you or address your concerns, they only work to 'manage' you until you stop bothering them. - Required 60 days notice before move out: Management requires everyone give 60 days notice before the end of their lease that they will not renew otherwise they are forced to pay for a full extra month or rent. This is the only building I've ever heard doing this and I know multiple tenants that have gotten hit with this clause when trying to escape. Tl;dr: The Denizen is a nightmare. Don't rent here. Don't let the pretty buildings and artsy fixtures fool you. Please. Learn from many of my neighbors and my mistakes and find a better apartment. read more

DO NOT LIVE HERE! I do not know where to begin. I will start with the pros because that list is much shorter than the cons. Also, beware of fake reviews. The fake (5 stars) reviews are short and vague while the real (1 star) reviews are long and specific to the Denizen Bshwk. Pros: - The buildings are beautiful and designed very well (but don't judge a book by its cover!) - Karie from Smart Management is extremely helpful! -The people at the front desk are helpful (at times) -The building is cleaned daily Cons: - On the tour, they will tell you the amenities will be done shortly but so far that is a lie. The gym, yoga studio, bowling alley, spin room, arcade, and others were promised to be finished in January but were not available until last month (July). The indoor pool and grocery store was promised to be finished in April, yet it is August and this still isn't completed. There are plenty of empty units, the promises may be an incentive to encourage people to move in. My lease is ending very soon and I cannot even enjoy the amenities which I used to make the decision to live here in the first place! - Management lacks in communication. Can be very unresponsive. -Poorly made units, paper-thin walls, and leaks in bathroom ceilings. -Restricted access to expensive amenities, mostly all of them close at 10 pm. -There has been on-going construction in the building since I moved in. The construction is so loud it is extremely difficult to sleep or have any phone calls in my own apartment! - They require you to have a membership to enjoy the amenities. The membership is $100 a month. If you are a member any guest you bring will have to pay an addition $25 each time (which is extremely high). Given the gym is nice, if you shop around you can find a lot better for the price. - The owners have a MAJOR staring issue! I am constantly being watched and talked (whispered) about. In fact, one of them told the trainer in the gym to kick me out because I wasn't a member (which I am). This incident made me feel very uncomfortable and I wouldn't be surprised if it has happened to others. So even though you are known as a resident, if you are caught using any amenities that you didn't pay for (additional $100 a month per person) you will be policed. - Unprofessional staff. I once overheard the gray-haired man, who often gives tours, talk poorly about a resident as they passed by. He didn't know I heard him, but it was very unprofessional. - Most of their policies have changed dramatically (in favor of the building). There are new rules quite often. If you want to live in a place filled with broken promises and be hassled for the amenities you pay for, this is the place for you. read more

They didn't even bother letting tenants know about the sale. Forget about being able to correspond with management, whenever you call or email them you get an answer saying that "upper management" is not available but they can relay a message. Just found out after ten months, that they have been adding charges to my account that I knew nothing of and when I try to contact the broker who showed me the apartment, she is not responding. I have been living in bushwick for over 15 years now... I have been fortunate to have only had good landlords at pretty decent apartments... and then I moved to the bushwick Denizen... and just wow! Not only is the building amazing! Let's stop and talk about the building management!! Let's be real, Covid has been a real piece of work for all of us! During Covid my roommate up and left me high and dry at my super nice apt at 54 Noll... I outreached management and they were able to switch me to a smaller and more affordable unit and i even ended up on the 123 Melrose side. The building is amazing and the management is even better! Special shout-out to Yaakov and the owner of this luxurious building for making my inconvenient Covid experience a blessing in disguise! Yaakov showed me many units until I found my perfect fit and never complained once during all my viewings (I even have my own personal washer and dryer... in brooklyn!!) I am happier now at my new home all thanks to him and I can honestly say that bc of Covid, my living situation got better! Worst management ever. We left this hell hole after repeatedly having horrible interactions with smart management. Early in to the pandemic, they were refusing to acknowledge Covid was real, even as NYC was averaging 700 deaths a day. As the pandemic rolled on they refused to enact a mask policy for their employees and hadn't even posted social distance or mask signs anywhere in the building. After weeks of fighting with them, we were "asked" to leave and allowed to break our lease (12 months in to a 24 month lease). We were refunded our deposit in full and moved out in July. Since then smart management has been actively trying to scam my girlfriend and I. They called her (who was on the lease as a co-occupant, but not a tenant) and told her she owed $2500 in back rent. That's funny because I paid the rent, and she wasn't on the lease in that capacity. After calling them and saying "no the hell we don't" they went "oh yes sorry I see here your balance is 0." Fast forward a few weeks and I just got a message from Kerri saying I owe $3850. They are actively, intentionally trying to scam money out of people. This my fourth Brooklyn apartment, and it is by far the worst one I've ever lived in. - The noise level is out of control. There are a ton of noisy neighbors and the walls are paper thin. - The amount they charge is ridiculous for the amenities and service you get. It is not at all what they advertise. - The garbage/recycling areas are always completely full and are poorly maintained. There is often trash thrown all over the rooms. - The laundry machines are constantly broken and will eat your money. - If you want to pick up a package, be prepared to wait as they won't hire more than one person to deal with packages for 400 units. - Management said the adjacent apartment complex, which is the building that has all of the amenities, would be done in February. It's now June and they still aren't finished. read more

This is a fake luxury building. They will lure you in with fantasies of lush amenities and a luxury lifestyle. I have been here almost a year and the amenities promised just keep getting pushed further and further back. I'll be lucky to see them by the time my lease is up. Clearly there is some shady stuff going on with management given the deceitfulness and negligence of tenants that I have witnessed in my time living here. Everything in the building is cheaply made, floors were warped & corners were all crooked when we moved in. You can hear absolutely everything that goes on with your neighbors next to you and above you. Since day 1 things have just gone downhill, they clearly are giving these apartments to just anyone now and are doing such a horrible job at managing the building to the point where I am now concerned for my safety walking around the building given the multiple instances of police walking the hallways. There is no enforcement of a no smoking or noise policy, and the "lifestyle" events are an even bigger joke than what my freshman year RA put together in college. HORRIBLE abusive management. They lie, charge you for every little thing. The amenities may seem nice but half either aren't open or they don't work properly. They play favorites, the building is LOUD you can't sleep here and management does nothing about it. Smallest apartment I've ever had in NYC yet somehow my electric bill is always over $200, without even using heat or AC. They raise your rent A LOT! People smoke all over. Much better options in Brooklyn. Don't let the pretty artwork fool you. They are cheats and liars. read more

Nice from the outside. Music can be heard from other apartments, literally word for word. Amenities are insanely expensive and management team (Smart Management) increased prices, even though more than half of the amenities were not finished (still are not finished!) and promised to be finished by June 2019!!!! I've lived here for a few months and I love it ! Anytime I need something fixed I go on the app request it and the super does his job ! My view is amazing , staff is amazing and I honestly have no complaints ! The apartments are nice and the pictures are exactly what you get. But what the pictures don't show is the disorganized management, expensive amenity fees, slow package retrievals, jammed packed trash rooms, loud noises, and weed smells. The building will tax you for everything. For example: you pay 100$ extra per month to use amenities (not bad considering what you get), but if you want a guest to join you then they will have to pay 25$ per day. If you would like to workout, bowl, sit on rooftop, whatever, then the guest will have to pay for a 25$ day pass, similar to all inclusive resorts. Also, management and staff is terrible. I once had a visitor show up early while i was away and came back to them just relaxing in my apartment. THE STAFF GAVE HIM A KEY TO ENETER MY APARTMENT WITHOUT MY APPROVAL OR NOTICE! Like what? I can go on and on about complaints on this building but that will take too much time. Overall it is a nice apartment complex for a group of young teens who all plan on living here and not bringing guest. I am only on my 3rd month here and i swear to you that this was the worst decision I've ever. The building is very nice and luxurious. About 30 cameras on each floor and maybe 10x that in the lobby. I feel like i am being watched all the time ive had the worst experience my first week with my guest visiting, which i was called out my name by one of the workers. They show you the builsing and fill you up with lies! Amenities are not done . Construction everyday. No smoking allow even when they have ash tray on each corner. I have been yelled at for smoking on a none smoking area when there is ashtrays in every corner . White privilege is high in this building no offense , these are things i have experienced. Management is the worst! They lie and tell you they will get it fix yet i had to call them everyday for this problem for them to fix it. I was basically doing their job. I have a neighbor that consistently fights with her boyfriend, while a new born baby is in the house, yet she argued with me because my kitten was in the hallway while i cleaned my apartment and said i sent my kitten to attack her, my kitten is 6 months . No one reached out to me about this only to her to find out she actually has acs case open(manager said her business outloud to me in the lobby( and she is in sectionA or affordable housing . Which is why they took her side. Which is messed up but w.e . Manager had a dispute with me regarding this the incident a week later after i asked why my parking spot was changed with out anyone letting me know anything. P.s i see people smoking out in the court yard all the time. I hate going out through the front because i feel like i am being talked about everytime. Management is always looking at you up and down trying to find something to talk about. I work from home but this place makes me want to get a on the feild job. You have no access to the back door even with a key. I have so much more but i hope this helps. You can only pick up packages after 2pm and before 11pm lol. Is like being a freshman in college all over again. Most people ive meet have been very nice but also have a few things to aay about the place so i stick to my self. This review is as far as i go. Also The apartments are so small. Jail ceils are alot bigger. Not to mention the owners/ managers speak like the show (the hands maid tail) "Under his eye" Anyways i really hope i dont get shit for this review since they are always watching me now. I have lived in Denizen for a little over a year now. When I first moved in, it appeared amazing. This building is designed to "aw" you at first site, and it largely does not disappoint from a visual design perspective. The apartments are decently sized and the location is great for those not interested in living in Manhattan. That is about where the amazing ends. It is worth noting the flaws, before you commit. So here goes. The finishes in sink and tub are not your usual hard surfaces, they scratch extremely easily, so be careful. The windows are not well sealed and there is a ton of draft on cold days. In addition, if you face the street, this allows a TON of noise in. (Now I know it's the city) But the sound is so bad it sounds no different if you have the window open or not. If noise is a problem for you, I would skip this building. The walls are not quite as thin as other places I have lived, but they definitely did not insulate between units quite well enough, so you do hear some noise from neighbors. The water pressure is great (good thing). The toilets they installed are dual flush (nice), and since the building is new, some of them settled and need to be reset, but the management is fixing it with wooden shims- not in anyway a good long term fix. This speaks to the next big issue. Management. They only respond when you make a big enough fuss, and when it is convenient for them. The amenities in this site are one of the biggest draws to living here, BUT you PAY for them. Not only for access to all the rooms, but for all of these ridiculous parties that they through. So if you want access to the gym they rave about you have to pay a huge fee that covers the cost of instructors and beer and wine for those parties (whether you attend them or not). The management team is definitely trying to ensure this building stays occupied by young residents who move in and out. This benefits them since the units are rent regulated and if you stay, they are not allowed to increase the rent by more than the agreed percentage by the city. So it appears management is on a mission to ensure they have regular turn over. This is a fake-luxury building. They want it to look that way to attract those residents, but do not deliver on any of it when you start to look closely. They try to provide all these services but charge you for any use type, and regulate how and when you use the common spaces. You pay to park, general amenity fee, fee for using rooms with more than 4 people, fee for certain instructed classes, fee for bike parking, and a fee to pay your rent online. Be sure to factor all of that in, if you pay your base rent, you get access to your apartment. Over all the building is loud, as many others have said, looks nice, but damages, operates, and wears poorly. I am scared to see what this place looks like in 5 years... read more
